If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

I felt that. When the people you called friends no longer appeal to you but the people who would really understand you don't know you exist because you haven't fully bloomed yet. It's lonely but it's only for a season at most.
for some, that season may take multiple years maybe even a decade. It's a lonely difficult path for sure.

Its hard for people to believe in others when there aren't any results to show for it yet and there won't be / might not be for awhile / long time, or at all. It's unfortunate but understandable - cuz it's hard enough for people to believe in themselves in those situations - so being able to believe in others is rare and above and beyond.

I've seen your videos before, and I think they were the more SEO/popular ones. Well, I took some time today to watch your videos, and I can wholeheartedly say that there is a true combination of honesty and wisdom in these.
Personal highlights for me are: · The connections to personal experiences · The usage of proof/supporting details when needed · The respect towards your wife, esp. in an appropriate way and at an appropriate level · The focus on the non-cliché points that are truly relevant in sales, self-improvement, relationships, etc.

When I first listened to I thought he was full of crap and I avoided his channel. HOWEVER, he started growing on me and now I 100% believe that Alex is truthful, intelligent and a hell of man. I bought his books and watch his channel. My journey has started and it's uphill and very hard. I know where my due north is.

I feel this right now. I havent started pursuing real success yet but the journey from where I was to where I am has been a lonesome one. Everyone is massively under estimating me. Whenever I mention where I am heading, they ask me where the results are, completely judging my routine spreadsheet as utter bullshit. No one is rooting for me but me and I wont be having it when I prove them wrong because they werent there when I actually needed them.

Everything Alex wears is highly deliberately functional and well reasoned. His outfit is his "Darwininain outfit" that he has many videos explaining and same with his nose strips. He breathes better with those. He's had two surgeries to help open a badly closed nose he was born with. He's such a fan of those strips that he either or invested in a nose strip company or owns one - something like that.
But it's because he's a big fan / user of them. Why he doesn't always wear them, don't know. I think he always does when working at his computer and sleeping.
