Jet boats battling the Payette River in Idaho

- Jet boats running Stair Case Rapids on the South Fork of the Payette River. This section is filled with extreme whitewater and tight narrow canyons. Only experianced operators run this section of river. Watch as three boats work there way up the small river of wild whitewater. The two small boats are running super charged V-8's while the bigger boat is running twin 350 chevy's
That is really the best much respect for the guys and there respect for the river can not stop watching

Love the Payette River Valley... I just plain love Idaho.
Ever since I started whitewater kayaking I had always thought it would be cool to install an aluminum hull on a jet ski and hit something like this with it.
The volume of water is hard to imagine unless you're actually standing there. Incredibly loud. The headwaters of the Middle Fork is even moreso.
In 1998 I ran a 21 ft. Spectra day cruiser up the Grand Canyon. People told us we were crazy. Almost made it to Lava Falls. Park service was helpful, but put a sign up at Separation Canyon that said no boats past this point

When the railroad put those tracks in so much rock fell into the river,plus hwy 55 donated alot as well. Try that today, it would take an act of congress,I don't think it hurts anything but sure generates revenue for Idaho.
We would MUCH rather being riding down Staircase vs. up... WEEEEE HAAAAA we love our backyard rivers!!

whenevr i drive past staircase i always stop to see the action and find myself daydreaming about running my standup thru it. i think it will always remain a dream tho. its cool just to pull up to banks tho and see the looks on peoples faces when i show up on my 750sx. haha

No. Just very few do any only in high water

Only dangerous if they have engine trouble....
They look like HCM boats.
They are. The bright orange one is now owned by a local fishing guide up here on the Fraser River. It doesn't have that motor in it anymore though as the gas bill was killing him.
