Honestly only Yoko Shimomura could surpass herself her own work, I didn't miss any classic piece cause the modern soundtrack was so loyal to the original
I mostly agree. Barrel Volcano and Smithy Who Enjoys Transforming I ended up leaning towards Classic. That bass is too good.
The only classic I like better is Midas River the new one did too much other than that all moderns hit it out of the park especially Bowser Battle with the epic violin
I like beware of the forest mushroom’s original better honestly. The instruments are too iconic on that one for me
@@TeknanamBarrel Volcano I prefer Modern, felt more like I was in a volcano and was more immersed than the classic. The classic is great to listen to outside of the game though.
@@elijahbruno2814
Eh. Neither of them really gave me a volcanic feeling. The sound choice mainly reminds me of Donkey Kong Country with a more groovy beat. I still love both of them regardless, but I just love the SNES beat and especially the bass.
I really like the format of switching between your reactions to both songs. It's a really cool editing idea and does wonders for pacing. And then the very detailed but brief analysis at the end keeps everything flowing super well. I haven't seen your other reaction videos so maybe you've always been doing this haha but I just wanted to say it does not go unnoticed. Hope we get a part 2!
Thank you so much!! I'm glad it helped with the pacing, this is my first video in this editing style as my usual reaction videos are straightforward one song at a time reactions.
Ayo it's Mayro, glad you enjoy the game and StringPlayerGamer's content
1:33 That violin made me tear up the first time I heard it.
27 years of melancholy, waiting for this game's return. And here we are... 🥲
Worth it.
Forest Maze theme is so majestic
*_AND HERE WE ARE_*
The new version of Battling Strongish Monsters" really blew me away when I first heard it in the trailer, and hearing the modern arrangement of "Where to?" nearly brought tears to my eyes, complete chills. Amazing.
Yeah, the map music really goes hard on the feel of Yoko's heavily melodic and cinematic Kingdom Hearts tracks.
Beware of Forest Mushrooms is easily my favorite song from Mario RPG. After first hearing the remaster's version, I couldn't hold back the tears. It's such a beautiful remaster, and they've really brought out the best in all the other songs I've heard so far, too. I feel by sharing the classic and modern versions is a fantastic way of displaying what people who enjoyed the original Mario RPG experienced playing this remake. Thank you so much!!
Also... super looking forward to part two. I have faith.
The old soundtrack will always have a special place in my heart, but man did the new one blow me away. Elegy brought tears to my eyes!
Smithy's theme didn't hit as hard percussion-wise as I had hoped, but Booster's theme ALONE cements the remake as being superior.
Listen to that STANK. That SAX. The fact that it has a second loop, too! Truly wonderful.
There were definitely a handful of tracks where I preferred the original. But overall, I prefer the new ones!
Booster's theme and welcome to booster tower are SO GOOD in the remake, they were already pretty good, but, man
Two of my favorite tracks in the remake
If you get a 5 chain then your percussion complaint gets sledged
Try listening to Smithy's theme with a chain combo, it goes SO hard
I always thought kingdom hearts sounded like Mario rpg but the modern version of mario rpg just emphasizes that even more for me. I love it
Same composer! She is phenomenal.
The remixes were done by the original composer - Yoko Shimomura. So the way I see it, the new music is how she always envisioned it ☺
The SNES soundchip had limitations.
I can't remember where I read this, but apparently she has said before that if she could have a second chance with any game, it would be Super Mario RPG. So you may be right!
Sometimes limitations make for unforgettable creations though.
I feel like some of the simpler NES tracks sound much better than their remakes
@utes5532 Indeed, often MIDI music has a charm that isn't available with classical instruments -at least for folks who can't tell the difference between a Stradivarius and a Marc Paquin-
Yoko Shimomura did an amazing job in the original version and in the Nintendo Switch remake.
It was about a 50/50 split for me. Some of the updates tracks I liked better, like when you first enter booster tower, and “still the road is full of monsters”. However, I thought they missed the mark big time on a few of them, in particular, “my name is booster”. Why they decided to get rid of the flat wound bass guitar, I have no idea.
The soundtrack for the original on it's hardware was impressive enough already
But with modern hardware it is a symphony
Also the best glowup (in my opinion) would be the culex theme
I agree pretty much with all your observations regarding the music. The Battle Theme was indeed a glow-up I didn't expect (and the whole experience was magical, to be real honest), but there are some of them which were somehow better in their original version. Maybe less "percussiony" in their modern version?
I'm no musician, but that's how it felt for me.
The little victory dances matching the in game ones was very cute haha
I'm so glad that ultimately, Yoko Shimomura was still in charge of the remake's arrangements. If you haven't heard the original soundtrack (or haven't played the game for that matter and decided to play the remake), you're really not missing out anything (except maybe for a few tracks) because the remake is just as beautiful and magical if not better. It has the same feel. At least for me. And also the awesome job she did Live A Live Remake's OSTs.
How I wished that the Front Mission Remake OST was handled by Yoko Shimomura as well, It could've been the saving grace for that bad remake.
In my opinion, it feels more friendly and magical than the original, matching way more the super mario vibe
So many of these remixes nearly make me sob with how amazing they are. Such a powerful piece of my childhood, so beautifully remade.
Same tbh
I have no nostalgia for this game (I didn’t grow up with it, although I did play it once as a teenager) and, absolutely same. Both the original and the remake have amazing music and instrumentation all throughout.
I wish this was longer!! I could certainly hear you talk about Mario RPG music more!
Sounds like an awesome remake! The use of woodwinds, brass and strings is very effective at playing to the different moods.
Thank you RG! I highly agree, the updated music sounds more alive and cinematic!
Your reaction was the same as mine to every song. Its soooooooooooo good. I love battling strongish monsters. It sounds so good
I played this video in the background and just started dancing when the modern victory theme played, then i rewinded a bit to actually watch the video, and laughed out loud when i realized we were doing the exact same little dance moves 😂
Such a good video, the pacing on those edit cuts is really good!
Thank you so much! Glad we got to dance along together.
Hearing the classic:Nostalgia
Hearing the modern:Nostalgia
Opening the map in the game and hearing the modern song, I got so many chills
This why I was so disappointed that Yoko Shimomura did not arrange the soundtrack for the Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga 3DS remake. There's a huge contrast in terms of quality when comparing the music arrangements of the original game (which was handled by someone else) and the new tracks composed specifically for the remake (composed and arranged by Shimomura herself)
actually i'm pretty sure she did ? it's bowser's inside story 3ds that has an additional music credit, but for superstar saga, it's even noticeable that for, say, the title theme, i'm pretty sure she uses an identical drum loop to one she uses for the axem rangers theme here, and the approach to the battle themes is similar across both (replacing the original samples trying to sound like brass with a more synthy approach and adding an additional section where it briefly changes key) and also beyond that a lot of the samples sound similar to ones she's known to use in general and there's little additions and changes here and there all over the soundtrack - in bowser's inside story 3ds on the other hand it seems like a good chunk of the tracks just sound like very safe midi instrument changes of the original tracks which i speculate may be someone else who didn't want to mess too much with the original tracks, with a few exceptions, and i'm pretty sure shimomura was still at least limitedly involved in that one as well since there's a couple new tracks (like the dark star and fawful battle themes) which i'm pretty sure are her work, and i'm not sure if there's any way to actually find out definitively which tracks there she did and didn't work on - idk
She literally did though??????
She really shined with the remake... especially the soundtrack called "Slope" that music is wonderful!!👌
I would've loved your thoughts on the updated version of Slope. I really feel they went freakin' NUTS on it, and I love it to pieces.
That they did. If this video does well I will make a part 2.
Oh yeah, Slope goes wild! Love it.
It's extremely rare that I get to say that I prefer a remade soundtrack to the original, but Yoko Shimomura knocked it out of the park!
The remake has a lot of good new things that distinguishes it from the original. A ui overhaul, New battle mechanics, the ability to swap party members mid battle, a way to track hidden chests, and a post game that focuses on harder boss refights alongside an overhauled secret boss for round 2. It also gives you the option to switch between the music of the original and the remake. The remixed songs are really faithful to the original as well. The only problems of note are the battles being easier with ultimate attacks being a thing (boss refights kind of counter that) and some minor changes to certain dialogue to match the current times. It may in fact be better than the original because of how much more accessible and playable the game is to newcomers while keeping everything from the original mostly intact.
Whenever I got to the forest and heard Beware of the forest mushrooms in the remake for the first time it gave me goosebumps, and i just had to sit there listening to the music for a bit. I had such a big smile on my face the entire time. I just couldn't believe what i was seeing and hearing. Really hit me super hard with nostalgia. The music was one of the things i was excited for the most with the remake.
That was a great video! Any chance you'll do another one on the remake's OST? I would like to hear what you think of the Culex music and both of the Booster themes.
If this video does well, I can definitely do a part 2.
Also bowser's battle theme
All improvements were really nice. I just wish they kept the bassline 100% intact (even using the synthetic sound) with the original for "battling a weapon boss" song, because that bassline is so iconic.
The newer soundtrack did great with being faithful to the original while adding more instrumentation, live sounds, and like you said, sharing the melodic responsibility between different instruments. I will say that on some of the tracks, like the Tragedy and Weapon Boss themes, the original holds a bit of a goofier/less serious tone to my ear, which fits some in-game scenes more, so even if overall the new tracks are better, the original still has merit to me in that regard.
A bit surprised that you didn't cover the power of post game content that track is so great
I like to think the new inflections in the remake's soundtrack is Shimomura coming back to this soundtrack after finding her style. Listening to songs like gloomy woods from mario and luigi paper jam, its got that similar dual violin playing their own melodies before coming together to play the main motif idea she uses all the time in the Mario RPG remake. She continues to be my favorite video game composer of all time.
And your inputs were great! If you ever make a part two to this video, youve gotta talk about booster's songs, all of them! The beautiful rendition of This is Booster Tower, the absolute JAM that is And That Makes Me Booster, and Slope too! I don't think I've ever heard a happier orchestra than during Slope's climax, I can just imagine that trombone player moving up and down playing that tune!
YES!!!! Please do a part 2! I bought this remake EXCLUSIVELY for the soundtrack. Shimomura-san is one of my favorite composers ever and your analyses are just wonderful and insightful and I really just want to hear more!
2 things:
1-is that MatPat's Game Theory jacket??
2-the battle themes have a musical bonus: at 5+ timed-hits chained, more instruments are added, and when a missed timed hit happens it reverts to 'normal'.
I was so sad to see the video end. Wish you could do this comparison for every track in the game.
My partner got me this game on the Switch after I mentioned I have the SNES cart. Listening along to this was an absolute blast.
I love the OG soundtrack, they're all still boppers for sure.
But hearing the versions compared like this really makes me appreciate the effort put into both - and I feel I'll be loving the entirety of the modern OST when I play.
It always seems like game soundtrack remasters want to include a lot of real acoustic instruments (or at least very close imitations). Sometimes it's the synthetic sound that made us like the original, though, and I kinda miss that sometimes.
The example I can think of on this soundtrack is the final final boss theme ("Battling Smithy's Many Forms"). Yeah it's cool to have an electric guitar, but the sound in the original that it's replacing is this otherworldly thing that doesn't really evoke any traditional instrument. There's also something you can only do with synthetic music and that's mixing up timbre and play style--For example, the rapid staccato bowed strings are something that seems hard to impossible to do in real life. They did it pretty convincingly here but it definitely sounds like they're bowing back and forth instead of repeatedly bowing the same direction (which would be even more difficult)
I can understand from the composer's POV though. For a long time VG composers were "trapped" using synth sounds because it's all they could do, and it probably feels liberating to throw in a real violin or real drums.
THIS GUY GETS IT! I've been waiting for this comment. The timbre of the original synths, even though low in quality evoke such a personality that the newer instruments completely lose. Also in all of the battle themes the drums hit WAY harder in the original, you can barely hear the kick drums now. I'm in the minority but aside from a handful I almost completely prefer the original version to the remake.
Finally a few people that understand. One major part is the feeling of the music itself. The remasters don't evoke the same feeling as the original and fall flat most of the time for me.
I’m a modern soundtrack guy all the way.
Forest Maze original is slightly more catchy than modern, but almost everything else I prefer Modern like Moleville, Booster Tower.
One track form this game in particular that blew me away was the Booster’s Tower theme.
The original was one of my favorites and did kind of make me think of Pulp Fiction even if it was a bit repetitious.
The new one … wow I had to take a minute and just let that play. It’s so energetic, lively, and FUN! There was this swing dancing vibe to it. That was the biggest improvement to me.
You should do another video going over some other tracks from the game!
I'd love to see your reaction to Booster Tower! By far my favorite glow up, it's just so swanky!
I think my favorite song on the whole soundtrack is the Mushroom Kingdom one, called "Hello Happy Kingdom" or something like that - absolutely incredible song, I can listen to that and the Forest Maze track over and over again.
The fact that it’s Yoko Shimomura returning with a vengeance and pouring her heart, soul, and mind to a soundtrack she did a while ago and surpassing herself.
Haven’t finished the game yet, but many of the new versions are so well done (I was particularly impressed by Here’s some monsters and Rose Town so far) Forest Maze will always have a special place in my heart and I can’t pick a favorite version of that. I dunno, I like many of the songs, and, I can only explain it like this: the soundtrack is like a childhood friend that was really fun, then moved out, lost contact, we both grew older, and found ourselves later in life, and they’re still as fun as I remember them, even if we’re both adults, and you realize it’s so heartwarming that the friendship is still there.
As someone who didn't have SMRPG growing up, I think I generally prefer the classic soundtrack's sense of whimsy. That's not to say the modern soundtrack is without its charms, I just like the classic one a little better.
I find that I have that opinion about most remakes/remasters that feature new audio. I prefer a more faithful to the original approach because remasters/remakes of audio usually like to soften the original chiptune riffs and push them to the background and add a bunch of new sounds on top. I'm sure the new sounds are good and all, but I fell in love with the original chiptune, the same chiptune that they pushed into the background of the song. Some songs' original chiptune sound are barely even audible whatsoever and so that causes the entire song to feel like a completely new song and I find myself missing the original. Dynamite from the Star Ocean 2 remake did this, I didn't even recognize it when it first started playing the first time I fought a boss, and I'm like "eugh, I wish I could pick and choose which songs I want the new and which ones I want the old" ...
i swear, Yoko Shimomura is a musical genius. the fact that she also made the soundtrack for SF2 is just astonishing.
“Fight Against Smithy” is one of those that has yet to be surpassed from the original imo. No modern version has the bass of the original. Just has more ‘oomph’ imo
the best parts of the modern soundtrack are the additional percussion tracks that come in for all the battle songs when you reach a 5 chain in-game. the Culex battle, Smithy battle, boss battle songs etc all have absolutely banger percussion tracks that add a lot of intensity and heat. check out the difference in feel for each of the battle tracks with the additional percussion layers (labeled as “5 chain version”)! so sick. the OG soundtrack will always be the best, but god damn did Yoko Shimomura do a good job on this. knocked it out of the park.
this is a tough choice as a person who grew up with this game I love the original music so much, it is the epitome of nostalgic to me playing any song from this game always brings a smile to my face even if the song is sad but I can't help but appreciate all the new tracks and how they made them better with live instruments, one of my greatest pleasures in life is seeing people perform instruments live whether it is in a stadium or just a small bar or lounge so to hear some of my favorite songs being played by a full orchestra with such bombast, well I just can't help but think the new is better, I still haven't gotten around to playing to playing the new game this only gives me more motivation to do so and purchase the new soundtrack if available, props to SPG for going over the music with such expertise!
8:40 I like to think they decided to make all the characters dance during the level up scene after this updated version.
All of the new tracks sound great, but the biggest surprise glow up for me was 'And That Makes Me Booster!'
I enjoy 16-bit instruments most of the time, but that track never worked for me. The new one just sounds so much better.
I love that the first SPG video I watch in years is also the most wholesome, I mean, Diwa’s reactions are so damn pure🥹🥹🥹
We need a part two!! There are so many more songs that I’d love to see you react to.
I think itt would also be worth looking at the "5-Chain" versions of the battle tracks, since those really up the percussion once you enter a chain of 5 or higher.
You look so joyful listening to all the new parts of each song, makes my heart happy :]
I personally prefer the original overall, but the Super Nintendo has my favorite soundchip of any console.
Yes thank you I react the same way to music like you except you know all the terms and words! Nice video :D
I really love how she did "the road is full of dangers", the background ambiance with the violin is just amazing. The melodies on top give it this adventurous vibe while the violin gives off this suspense of unknown mystery. I freaking love it lol its genius
This video made me subscribe to you!! Classic vs modern . Happy I found ya dude! Also super Mario rpg is a 10/10 I’m so happy they remade it. Never got to really play the original one!!
Welcome aboard!
Man, I was really hoping to hear his opinion on 'And That Makes Me Booster!' since that was my favorite in both versons.
We'll see in a week or two if this video does well, then a part 2 can happen.
@@LionmightOfficialThat's the best anybody could ask for I think! Y'all only got so many hours in a day.
Regardless, thanks so much for sharing your perspective on the music!
I'll be real. To me the remake's soundtrack sounds more mischievous like the musicians are having a little cheeky fun with the music and the original sounds like a subtle but serious and genuine attempt to make this work and both sound like they were made with love
While the classic will always be a wonderful game that I played many times back on the SNES and afterward via emulators over the years... getting a full blown remake of it was nothing short of fantastic. And the way the music was enhanced just made me enjoy it all the more.
I was a little torn. Some songs I agree had this huge glowup (the biggest one to me being Moleville, wow!). There were some others that had a real "crunch" to them in the original that I feel was softened too much in the remake, like Weapons Factory, the Sunken Ship, and "Let's Do the Fooka-Fooka."
i love the way he pogs whenever he hears something new added to the songs
I also love how the battle themes change a little if you get to and maintain a 5+ chain, a wonderful touch.
Just finished this game last week before thanksgiving very much enjoyed it. Wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel
While its not as topical, it would be neat for you to do similar comparisons for the two Mario and Luigi remakes, especially since they have the same composer as Mario RPG
What I love from Yoko is her use of the violin in her music; I don't know songs form Kingdom hearts but I do from the Mario n Luigi RPG series where the boss battles go hard with the violin like Antasma battle and Grand FInal (Bowser's inside story 3ds).
I should really check out the KH soundtrack now I think of it xD
What makes the battle themes in the remake less monotonous, is the fact that once you hit a chain of 5, it adds instruments, especially in battle against an armed boss, hoo boy those added drums slap
The world map theme now basically makes you feel like playing a Kingdom Hearts game.
ComparisonPlayerGamer lesgooooo!! Never played Super Mario RPG but I love this music!!
My favorites from this list in alphabetical order:
Battling a Weapon Boss - Classic (While I appreciate the live saxophones in the modern, I like the classic's bass and synth more)
Beware of the Forest Mushrooms - Modern (SO MUCH OBOE HYPE!!)
Let's Try - Classic (The modern version definitely sounds brighter, however I prefer the simpler classic version)
Victory! - Modern (Modern version definitely sounds like a live band and for a victory I like that more)
Where To? - Modern (OBOE!!)
The remake is a masterpiece. I can't remember a better, more classic game getting a better glowup than this, ever.
Even my son could notice the Yoko Shimomura OOZING out of the World Map. We both were like, "This is a Kingdom Hearts World Map" 😂. I liked a majority of the updates, but one that I REALLY felt was a let down was Let's Do the Fooka Fooka. The slower tempo, replacement of piccolo with strings (and horns at points). The classic version makes you cry. The modern not so much.
Smithy’s theme first form was probably the only one I was kinda let down since the original had more bass, which made it more memorable. Otherwise the new ones weee great!
yeah if these were synths and not live, I can't tell. I'd bet it was live. but also, the fact you can hot swap between osts in-game with the classic, like with Resident Evil 2 remake (if you buy the dlc) makes it ultra duper deluxe.
The soundtrack has some live songs and some digital ones, but it can be really hard to tell which is which
Please do a second part I just want to see your reaction to Culex's amazing post-game rematch music. It really brings out the Final Fantasy.
Oh my god how could you not include the booster tower glow up, it was amazing
So that people like you would respectfully request a part 2.
I was rly young and only playing DKC and Yoshi's Island when this came out, so the Switch version was the first I played/heard. Glad to hear it's comparable if not better than the original! I'll switch to Classic sometimes to check it out.
Imo i prefer the classic "Battling a weapon boss" just like it more
Battling monsters on Modern and Classical is chefs kiss. At the final boss and I don’t want it to end even though I know post battles are a thing.
yoooooooo u gotta do "...And that makes me Booster!", "Let's Take the Midas River" and "Rose Town"
I really, really loved the new one, it is perfectly loyal to the original and also a incredible ost by itself, but sometimes ill still put on the old one cause of it being such a timeless masterpiece. Seriously, Super Mario Rpg was the first rpg Ive ever played and its still to this day one of my all time favorites games.
Man the music goes hard in this game. Usually Mario doesn’t come to mind in discussions of videogame music beyond just how iconic some of its tracks have become, but this just blows me away.
That said, might I suggest checking out the OSTs of some Kirby games? I’d say Return to Dreamland and Forgotten Land both have overall incredible music, but then again so do Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot and Amazing Mirror and Rainbow Curse and Epic Yarn and 64: the Crystal Shards and Dreamland 3 and Mass Attack and Star Allies and Canvas Curse and Squeak Squad and Air Ride and and etc etc etc ok so I may be a little bit biased. Honestly there’s pretty much no Kirby game with an OST that doesn’t slap to some degree, so video topic or not I’d just hugely recommend checking out the franchise’s music in general. Best starting point would be the final boss themes, like C-R-O-W-N-E-D, Dirty and Beauty, Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit, Vs 02, Mind in the Program, etc, but even a lot of normal stages have absolutely incredible music… Factory Inspection, Mountains in an Angry Sky, The Wild Red Yonder, Lava Landing, L86, Sandy Wilds, Tube Town, Infiltrate the Junk Factory, Reflected Laughter, Great Cave Escape, Sky-High and Smitten, and The Birthplace of Steel(to name a small few) irreversibly altered my brain chemistry.
Who needs to be normal when you can be a fan of the funny orb game concealing the horrors instead?
It's really great... as an orchestra! It's these kind of soundtracks you buy on the internet like OCRemix and that you play in the background while working or something...
But as the main soundtrack of a game, it tends to be a little too ambitious, most of the time you won't even pay attention to the instruments and concentrate on the sfx...
I really enjoyed these remixes in this video but during the game they actually piss me off more than ever.
The Elegy and Boss fight musics are awesome though.
Now you make me wonder how would Booster Tower, Nimbus Land or FIGHTING AGAINST CULEX sounds in the new version! Gotta check this out asap
And this is why Yoko Shimomura is the GOAT!!
My most treasured soundtrack being brought back to life by Yoko Shimomura herself has been such an indescribable delight for me. I’ve spent the last 20+ years being obsessed with this music and now I will spend the next 20+ years obsessing over the new arrangements. 🥰🥹
surprised you missed at 17 seconds into the Boss battle theme that they added a WHOLE NEW line into the intro, where there is a small pause of the melody to let a few toots from the horn, instead they added some melody to it
the exact thing was they Exchanged is the BASS to the Melody for about 7 seconds
I missed nothing. Some songs are trimmed in editing for pacing purposes.
Hey, I really loved this video, do you plan on making a part 2?
I love this video comparison it does this game's soundtrack justice, I would love for yoko shimomura to compose for New Mario & Luigi games in the future.
I can agree with you the modern music was awesome especially the forest maze
Damn... can't wait to do a playthrough and uncontrollably tear up.
the culex 3d battle theme is impresive
They're both good in their own rights. So many beautiful pieces were created for the SNES, and then were expanded upon for the Switch. It's hard to go wrong with either version. But I do have to say that Culex 3D is just so banging!!!
Honestly, I love the soundtrack, but Strongish Monsters was missing the the drums that felt like they were straight from a battlefield.
Overall, for most of the soundtrack, what I was really hoping for, was more of a "high quality re-record" of what the original, and less of a "let's add a new spin to everything"
I think the remake did a phenomenal job with the soundtrack.
I love the old versions, but it was for a time, place, and limitations.
What I love about the newer versions I heard here is how each one honors the tracks they were built upon, and then ramp everything up with modern capabilities!
I listen to different remixes and covers of the video games from pretty much NES through the Wii (especially those through 64) on TH-cam, and this feels like what TH-camrs (like yourself) do!
You take classic tracks and through your style and instrumentation, light them up and make them yours!
The really jazzy track reminded me of 8-Bit Jazz Band, who do amazing work!
Something I think would be funny is if Nintendo reached out to some of the best cover artists or groups on TH-cam and there were audio options to use each for certain games.
“String Player Gamer” option on “Super Mario 3: Revived?” Why not?
To me, it’s all the same concept, except it was in-house at Nintendo.
The classics will always be the classics, but they did the modern stuff right!
I feel like in all instances modern get the W. But the classic and for it's time and hardware *chef's kiss*.
I never played the original , but I do like the music in the modern take of Super Mario Rpg
Listening through this the fact the some of the classic and modern versions felt seemless in the switch shows how good of a remake the music is, it has the same feel as the old days with some newer touches that truly don't feel out of place.
