We sing this every year for a Veterans Day concert with our choir. Seeing the veterans crying because they have lost someone over the years or from the wars they have served in is the most moving thing. This song has power. It can move you and get into your soul. Beautiful. Just plain beautiful.
I had never heard this song before my director introduced it to us in our high school choir this year, and it has by far been my favorite of all our literature. I remember living in Virginia on September 11, and our neighbor (whose husband was in the secret service) told us that her husband had called her, telling her to pack up. Though I was young, I can still remember the fright and confusion of that day, but this piece helps me to remember that those who died are with God now. Thank you Rene.
Simply glorious. Sensitive and supplicating performance. We sing it this Sunday and for Maundy Thursday services this year. I pray we do it as a great a justice as the GCC. Beautifully rendered. Many thanks for sharing it with us.
Dr. Kesling is so amazing. He is able to get huge groups of people to create such sensitive and emotional music. I am so glad I got to sing with him for four years! I have yet to see a conductor who can bring the music out of singers like he can.
Your version just gave me goosebumps. My choir is currently learning this piece and I have been searching for a tenor part version and stumbled across this. Magnificent voices that capture the color, clarity, and tone of the piece. Thank you for singing this, and I hope my Chorale (Advanced Choir) can be as great all of you. :)
I had the pleasure of performing this work with the same choir in 2011 with Kesling. He also conducts UF's University Choir in which I sing....he certainly has passion.
We're singing this in my choir right now, and it always makes me want to cry cause it's so beautiful.

When I sang this song, my heart broke a little when I sang, "Lord, have mercy." It just touched me and made me want to tear up a little as I sang.

We sang this at our SD All-State Chorus and Orchestra concert! I melted when I heard the orchestra!
I was in SD All-State that year too! This song was so moving and beautiful
I was lucky enough to play trumpet in the orchestra for this piece with the LHS choir. Excellent orchestration and harmonies!

This sounds so amazing. I'm hoping our choir will sound this amazing when we perform!
I think this is the best recording of "Kyrie" out there! Great job posting this Andy!
Great recording. I attended the ACDA convention when the entire MEMORIAL premiered. Very moving.
+John Kling Me as well. It was riverside church right? I was sobbing.
I have the video from Riverside, but I heard the actual performance at Lincoln Center. Could hear a pin drop when it was finished.
Dr. Kesling conducted for my honor choir!
I was there!
a beatuiful song but done so well by the Gainesville civic Chorus and conducted by Dr. K
