Late to the party, I only discovered Marillion in about 2010 or so, but the Fish era lineup quickly became one of my favourite progressive bands. This solo outclasses the entire song, a great choice to cover!
What a great video, Rothery is such a melodic player. Thank you for analysing this solo, it is one if his finest IMHO. Can we have some more Marillion please.
This period of Marillion is fantastic and VERY underrated. Fish was (and still is) perhaps one of the finest lyric writers ever - go check out Forgotten Sons and tell me you aren't moved. But Rothery's guitar and Kelly's synth are perfect examples of melodic stuff without needing to be over-flowery or clever. It's sheer beauty - there's not a single wasted or extra note in there.
YES! 🍺Thanks John, absolute belter of a lesson. I’m making it my mission to practice this until perfected......I’m a patient chap! I love the early Marillion (Fish era), although Steve Rothery never disappoints on any Album since🥇🥇🥇
I remember buying Marillion's Real to Reel in early 1986, featuring Incubus live. I wasn't too sure about them. But after a few plays I was completely hooked. I'd say from 1984 to '87 they were at their zenith.
Hello John, thank you very much sharing this awesome class, and please keep sharing more Steve Rothery solos. One question, how would you approach his solo tone using the DS-1? Cheers
AMAZING! Thanks a lot for this. I really love the releases of the "Fish-Area" and this solo is really great! Maybe the Chelsea Monday-Solo in the future!? So - no time left, I´m straight on my way to the Patreon-content to load down the GuitarPro-File! Last month it was the Wuthering Heights-Solo, this month it is the Incubus-Solo! Just for one of such pieces a month I love to pay my Patreon fee for you! Greetings from Germany!
One of my fave Steve Rothery solos so gorgeous but he us a master at that. The one at the start if Cheksea Minday and throughout The Web are highlights too
Steve Rothery is such an underrated guitarist, his solo’s are always so melodic.
That Fugazi album kept me mesmerized for hours as a young teenager... thanks to my uncle Henri for the introduction.
"Jigsaw" solo is incredible too, goosebumps guaranteed!

Thanks for posting this - my favourite band and one of my favourite solos :)
Unique band. Amazing quality music. Watched them in Caracas and did it again in Orlando
Ah, this takes back, wonderful solo, well done John.

Bloody hell. I was just thinking about suggesting a Marillion solo the other day, but I would have gone with Sugar Mice, or Easter. Keep em coming!
Johns done Easter, great lesson it is too.
@@__Anton__ has he? Ok, need to look for that one.
