    Arigato, Katsunori san! =) This really shows that the Monologue really is not a monophonic version of the Minilogue but an entirely different beast. The Monologue REALLY has the analog FATNESS the Minilogue is missing. And i really consider buying a Monologue too because i love the Minilogue a lot and the similar interface.

    The two problems I have with the Korg Monologue are (1), Nobody is talking about it. I've been around synths for a very long time and while granted it's not out everywhere just yet, there is very little buzz about it. Even on the Korg forums it's quiet. (2) It's unclear with all the so so demos out there just how this will fit into todays music. Unless you're itching for that Korg Analog sound ( It's different than Roland ) then, some of the newer soft synths are more than adequate. The price is amazing though with this, so I imagine a lot of people will take advantage of that. I'm on the fence a little bit. Hmmm.

      I think that many people were waiting for Polysix, while suddenly they came up with a two octave mono synth. There are Arturia's excellent monosynths and excellent small Minilogue, so there is no.... need for another mono synth? It looks like another Minibrute. BUT IT IS NOT :) and here starts the fun - one thing - the reason why I am considering to buy it - an excellent, easy and flexible sequencer.

    Not sure about the sound. It seems the OSCs seems sounding weak, and to compensate it they compressed the sound. Sounds fatique to my ears. I was considering this are the bass station 2. i think i made my decision.

      please do remember TH-cam compresses every audio track by default. Please google "TH-cam loudness normalisation" for more info.

      Given the choice of the monologue or a Bass Station II I'd pick the Novation machine. I think the sounds in the Bass station II are more musically usable. The thing of real interest in the Korg is the programmable scale facility; that's really different from most other synths, a true innovation in the current market.

    • @spintonik
      @spintonik 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maby this is a matter of discussion supposed to be done elsewhere, but I am interested on hearing Your views on BassStation 2. I tried it when it was just released, I loved the sound but I was severly put off by interface. It felt illogical and/or buggy, very obvious knobs on front panel did not seem to have correct kind of impact on the sound. As I no longer have a chance to try it before I buy, I'd like to hear Your views on programmability and versatility of it.

    • @brianeibisch6025
      @brianeibisch6025 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nikko, (self correct will not allow me to put your name in properly it keeps changing it). First of all with the BS II I'd look at the Sonic State review of this product on You Tube. In fact there are at least two of these reviews, one with Nick Batt only and another with a rep from Novation. This will give you a pretty good understanding of the BSII. Secondly in reference to programming the BSII has a suite of some 70 presets covering basically all "genre" of synth sounds so if you need a certain kind of sound you will probably find it is already there. If it is not quite right for what you want you can "tweek" it with the knobs and dials. The amazing thing with synths is that there is really no standard control interface; some have knobs, some have electronic menus, some have a combo of both and maybe with sliders as well, some have knobs with push button facility too. So one of the good things about this is mastering the control of each different synth. The BSII is no different, it has its own unique way of "doing stuff" relative to the facilities the machine offers so you have to learn it. In terms of hearing the synth before you buy it there are plenty of You Tube vids on this synth to listen to. Being an analogue synth with digital control interface you get the best of both worlds; you can save your designed patches AND being analogue you get the most beautiful creamy smooth sweeps of all, no digital stepping in the sound. I voted with my cash and bought one because it sounds just sooooo good. At the end of the day one synth won't do everything but the BSII for its price does a lot!! Novation has also done a great job of supplying their customers with musically usable patches and similar sounds are next to each other for performance ease of use. Not all synth companies and I'm talking big companies here, give you all musically usable timbres of such quality as Novation does.

    • @thimkthimk
      @thimkthimk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You might be referring to the "latching" or "jumping" aspect of the knobs (which is normal for most synths). From memory there are lights in the display of the BSII that tell you if the knob is above or below the patch's stored value. As demonstrated in the video, the Monologue can revert the sound to the current position of the knobs.
      But as suggested by Brian, the BSII is no slouch. I've tried a friend's and It's perfectly capable of some wicked sounds. One thing I really like are the 2 LFOs, each with Random waveforms, which allow for experimental textures. Personally, I've settled for the Monologue because it's slightly cheaper and the programming seems lightning fast. The sequencer has alot of features (which makes up for the single LFO imo). Soundwise, the high end of the frequencies seems a bit more exciting to me too, so there's that.

    Granted it's way more flexible and it has a lot more controls, sonic-wise the Monologue can't hold a candle to an Arturia Minibrute.

    • @ogasi1798
      @ogasi1798 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      atk326 love the microbrute and use it a lot but it loses by a mile to this. Quality of sound and features is nowhere similar.

    • @Andrew-K
      @Andrew-K 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jamie munro huh it seemed from videos that you can program production-ready sounds more easily on the microbrute. Monologue seems to have more of an experimental quality to it.

    • @thimkthimk
      @thimkthimk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'd say it's the other way around. The Microbrute has no memory for storing sounds though it has a mini patchbay and with the knobs is "what you see is what you get".

    • @marike1100
      @marike1100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Microbrute has a proper ADSR section, not the dumbed down AD of the Monologue, it has a really distinct sounding multimode filter (LP/HP/BP), wave mixers and waveshapers, syncable LFO, CV gate for integrating with vintage and modular gear, and it sounds better.

    • @ogasi1798
      @ogasi1798 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Markus Arike the multi function 'dumbed down' envelopes in the ml are not so dumb, take a moment to read about them and their abilities and maybe you will acknowledge that, maybe not. Anyway on features and sound the ml wipes the floor with the brute. Faster more functioning lfo, better osc section x2, way better sequencer, something that responds properly to midi clock lol that this is even mentioned but hey there we go, better sounding filter, analogue drive, proper midi implementation, there's a massive list of benefits really, i own and love my microbrute, it's a great little synth for adding functionality and sound not on my other gear but it loses this battle.

      Jan Martin Ulvåg exactly. I couldn't justify spending the cash on the ms20 mini, and then I spotted a great deal on this. Had to buy it. It will be in my live rig sync'd to a volca sample. The bass is monsterous. May add a minituar for that Moog flavor but this is amazing for the money.

    how can I make an infinite sustain?

    • @CakeHunter333
      @CakeHunter333 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gandalf Indianópolis Not a user of this synth, but if it is at all like my Volca Bass, the sustain option replaces the decay with release. Likely, you would reach it VIA a function + button or something like that. this will also give you a release knob in the place of the Decay knob! Hope this helps, happy playing!

    • @KungFuBlitzKrieg
      @KungFuBlitzKrieg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Press play, then record while in note mode on the sequencer, then press and hold the note you want until the sequencer has recorded thru an entire cycle, then press record again to stop recording while still holding the note, then let go of the note. This will create a continuous note that will loop infinitely without breaks whenever you start the sequencer. To change the note looped, press and hold the key trigger/hold button to enter hold mode, then press a key. It will then hold the note chosen indefinitely until you press another key, and then will hold that note. This method will give you infinite sustain on any note you want, then you can tweak knobs and add motion record to shape the waveform. Hope this helps.

    Sounds bad when you open the filter too much, but that is the result off building such a cheap synth regarding its usage of cheaper circuits and such which is why i dont think cheap and analog goes together too well. dont get me wrong the price is great, so i almost want one.
