Thanks for the informative vid. It helped make my striker retainer roll pin replacement easier.

I feel so much better now that I know you are wearing safety goggles

I also considered replacing my pin as a preventative measure. It doesn't look like there is ANY damage to yours, much less damage that could result in a broken pin.
I tend to think that these rumors are largely overblown.

since the pin was cheap and you have to remove the pin to replace the striker spring i think it's worth replacing but i agree that with all my dry firing that roll pin wasn't bent much.

He is a lefty, klutzes. Good analytic thinkers. I was born lefty forced to be right. Explains everything .

i am a lefty but taught to shoot an air rifle as a kid the normal way and i don't know if that made me right eye dominant. i shoot handguns right handed but can still shoot with my left though not as good singlehand, shoot left handed with both hands ok.
my kindergarten teacher smacked my left hand while learning to write till my mother learned of it and she charged into the school and berated the teacher.
klutz? maybe due to spring tension yes. i inserted ivs in neonates in scalp veins with my left hand during my pediatrics rotation years ago handled surgical instruments with my left hand during surgical rotations and used to tie flies as a lefty down to size 22 hooks. i do have horrible handwriting though.

can't remember the vendor but just googled xdm 9 mm parts and brought me to one vendor midwest gun works that sells these parts other vendors are available.
if you do it there's another $3 spring in front of the firing pin that i should have changed after going through all the trouble. the firing pin dampening spring. as it is, the gun still has that original spring.

one thing that i didn't do but should have done since i was doing tbis was to also change out the rebound spring( in front of the firing pin). it also was very cheap. next time i replace the striker spring i will change it out too.

Weak primer strike, usually means the striker is just gunked up and needs to be removed and cleaned.

yes but there wasn't much gunk and the gun had had thousands of rounds so might as well replace the striker spring.
