Ol' E.T. was and will always remain one of the best real country singers out there. My understanding is that he was a mighty fine gentleman as well--kind to his fans, fellow musicians and aspiring singers.
yes but i miss all the great old country boys from a boy up to now im43 years old now n i keep playing. my old country cuz they left it for me to play n enjoy .thank u ernest tubb n Waylon n all the other.s. u r gone but never forgotten
@@2packs4sure This was around the time we went to Nashville to see ET & the Boys after seeing them perform in our area. We went to the Midnight Jamboree to see them, but Ernest wasn't feeling well that night, but we did see the Troubadours. BTW, my new fav song I've been playing a lot lately is, "Lots Of Luck". Do you know what year it came out? Is it on video, by chance? Mr. Leon's pickin' blows me away every time!!
@@janiceastets5425 Cool, that was the early 60's and when ET wasn't feeling well in those days that usually meant EPIC HANGOVER..... The only videos of ET live from that era is from TV appearances and there is only ONE audio only performance from ET from the peak mid 60's era and it's this concert from 1965 ~~ th-cam.com/video/2murIxEZVlQ/w-d-xo.html ~~ IT'S EXCELLENT !!
@@2packs4sure About 20 min. or so after I posted, I found a video of ET singing "Lots Of Luck". It was from the "Jimmy Dean Show" from the 60's. Jimmy had a good bunch of Country stars on his show back then, didn't he? And yes, I think you're talking about the "Live" from 65' record album, right? I have the album & it is very good!
Close, his first session with E.T. was on September 21st 1960. They cut CANDY KISSES, IT HAPPENED WHEN I REALLY NEEDED YOU, WONDERING, and COLD, COLD HEART.
It might be worth mentioning that this tune was penned by ET's son in law (at the time) Wayne Walker. He was once married to ET's oldest daughter Elaine.
if them new country boys would sound just half as good as Ernest tubb n waylon moe bandy then they b something then they need to go back n take notes from them men hell yes
This is one of my all time ET favorites as well, probably in my top 5. This is when his best band was really taking shape with Leon coming on board on lead guitar. In fact, wasn't this song cut at his first ET session? Thanks John!!!
Yea, that's true though he was a pain in the ass when he drank. There is a great book call Ernest Tubb The Texas Troubadour by Ronnie Pugh. It's a good read.
Ernest was the first natural country singer ever, no gimmicks at all...he was JUST HIMSELF, which proved to be far more than enough for his fans!
An underrated ET song
Agreed,,, this was the first ET recording that I fell hard for,,,, 40 years ago...

He was everything (and more) that you described.
Ernest Tubb was in a class of his own, I've always loved his singing!
Enjoy hearing ET. He always brings a smile to my face hearing him sing.
Oh what a great one from Ernest and the boys love it!
And here I am back again to listen and share these great songs! Thanks John!

the best county singer ever.
+Laura Anderson Well, top 5 for sure.
Thanks ET! THANKS A LOT
This was one of the very first ET songs I feel in love with,,,, around 1982.......

Yea, Wayne was awesome.
Many of my favorite songs are Wayne Walker's.
Webb Pierce cut a lot of Wayne's stuff and I love most of it......

+Laura Anderson The fact is that if the new guys did things the old way we'd be happy BUT, we're not their audience. They'd go broke making US happy.
There are still a few traditional style artists.
Fantastic.

Thanks for the info.
GREAT ET track! With superstar back up and Owen Bradley to boot, how could you go wrong?
The fiction/ fantasy I wrote about a ghost child. In the novel that child loved rainbow at midnight
ET is in a class by himself , George Strait does a good cover of this check in out.
it out
I had the Strait cd with Thoughts of a Fool on it, but George just doesn't have the oommph E.T. did.
ET is the BEST but for a cover George has come closer than any other I've heard.
@@tomkeenan77 George Strait's version has just as much as an "oommph" as this one does. They're both very good.

Better than George,,love them both
Agreed,, ET's version is stronger..
Ernest Tubb is just great to be such a terrible singer. #lovetubb
Totally wrong,,,,, ET was just terrible to be such a great singer..
I used to work with a guy named Sam King in Houston in the 80's.
