Thank all of you for such an in-depth look at skin analysis. It is very important for us skin care therapist to analyze the skin. One of the reason too...where I’m from...is that some clients tend to not tell the truth about what they are using...so the onus is on us to read and do our own analysis...and let them know the adverse reactions of not coming clean...and I do get to the bottom of this by doing my skin analysis and proceed cautiously. For instance...People like to bleach their skin...and that right away is a red flag for impaired barrier and sensitized skin. We also have some Dermatologist who act like entrepreneurs rather than doctors. They do not give them the requisite information that they need when they patients....oftentimes they come to me with the skin so damaged. Everything that was said here...it’s very important to me because it is the most crucial step in any skin treatment...I’m from Guyana..South America...Thank you all for doing this..I’ve learnt so much!!!
Its so funny to watch this as a normal person uneducated in skincare. Thinking her skin is alright or in good condition and seeing theres actually alot of improvement that could be made :)
Aya is so correct. I let the client think about what I have stated during the skin diagnosis during the "quiet" moments. As a former nurse, I look at low hanging fruit. I agree the peel is last resort. I want to make sure that the client's treatment is working and may have to suggest another step.
First of all I’d like to thank you for this video. It is beautiful to see you all together. What’s a little upsetting that camera man didn’t do a good job by zooming in her face closer so we could all see her skin issues. I agree on not doing any peels on her skin.shes too young’s and doesn’t seem like scarring problems. I would put her on K cleanser,Exfoliation mask twice a week (massaged and removed) and B lotion for two weeks. Then later would add some AHA Serum.

Especially around the jaw line but every since I started taking evening primrose capsules a few months ago i haven’t dealt with those hard under the skin Bumps or crazy breakouts for that matter . Could u tell me why this could be helping me out ? I feel like I found my holy grail .
Yes, evening primrose can really help some people with hormone fluctuations ..... good for you for taking the initiative to try a healthy choice and thank you so much for sharing your story here:)))
Wow, you guys did skin mapping too. She is a lucky lady. Regarding chemical peels, I received one several years ago. First I was given a deep pore cleaning facial with mask add on were: lymphatic facial massage along with oxygen therapy then a chemical peel( I did look like a tomato for five days). After that I had tons of people asking me what I did. Yes it was all done on ONE visit. It cost about $660.94. It would of cost more I received first time client discount and a birthday discount. If not it would of been another $350.00.
Hi Nerida! What is the most effective way of using toner? Using a cotton pad and sweeping it across the face or spaying it directly on your face? Which way let's the toner work properly into the skin? Thank youu xx
Hey Nerida! Im 27 yrs old and I’m wondering if using retinol, vitamin c, and glycolic acid all in my consistent routine is too much. I use my vitamin c serum in the morn and retinol at night only 3-4x a week, and my glycolic acid toner only 1-2x per week. I always use moisturizer and sunscreen as well. Plz let me know if you think I’m doing too much or any suggestions you might have to make my routine more safe and effective. Thank you! 🤗
It depends on the person, where they live, their age. What is your skin currently like? Are you surface dehydrated? Are you congested? If it’s too much, you can create more congestion by irritating the follicle with too many actives. It also depends on the products. I myself find that I cannot use glycolic, or exfoliating creams or serums with acids daily. I prefer a dedicated exfoliant a few times a week. I’m okay with vitamin C, and retinoids, however. But it depends. I am soon to be 28, myself, so the more I age, the more I will probably start to exfoliate my skin a little more... if it works for you, then it works. Do you have any skin concerns?
Devon Pfeifer I don’t really have many skin concerns at the moment. My skin is pretty clear acne wise (thx to glycolic) I just have some hyperpigmentation I want to get rid of which I hoping the vitamin c and retinol help with. I just want to tread carefully cuz I don’t want to damage my skin barrier. What I’m doing seems to be working great I’m just trying to not push it. I just recently started using retinol a week ago and have been getting tiny little pimples so I was wondering if maybe it was too much. And no my skin isn’t surface dry. I use hyaluronic acid which helps me keep my moisture. :)
Chelseaa yes, that could be your retinol. If your skin is turning over quite quickly that may be the case. Perhaps there is a retinol you can use that is a lower strength, or perhaps lower your usage of your glycolic, and see what happens with your retinol. I would use, perhaps a melanin suppressant at night, like arbutin, or licorice extract, maybe Kojic acid. Vitamin C does help and is a tyrosinase inhibitor also, but it is more protective. You are young, so good for you for starting slower, and being more cautious to not disrupt the skin barrier by doing too much.
@@ChElSaYy4 Could be the vitamin C.... stop using it for a bit and see if the little red pimples go away. Sounds like you are doing a good job with the rest:))

Hi, My sister has been having issues with acne for several years now and I never heard someone talk about the skin as you do. So I would love for her to see you. She, however, lives in Australia (so it's a crying shame you left) and cannot make that happen. But I thought maybe you can recommend an amazing esthetician that practices the same way you do here in Australia. Thank you anyway for all the information you have shared in your videos, you have already helped a lot. Bless you
I would check your local review website. Or even going to a med spa where there is a dermatologist on site. Skin is a huge puzzle. Is she using an at home regimen? How’s her eating habit? How much water does she drink? Is she stressed? Is it hormonal? Is she changing her pillow case often etc also at night to pull her hair back from her face. I hope you find someone that ca. Help
I also told her that massaging her fascia late muscle meridian will stimulate the large intestine. I did a video you can watch called "Exercise tips to help with acne" to show how to do this also:))
Nerida Joy I’ve incorporated the thigh massage into my daily shower routine and it has really helped with my under the skin bumps along the sides of my jaw . Not drastic changes (slowly but surely) but enough for me to notice a difference. I’ve also noticed my saddle bags getting slimmer 😊 it would be appreciated it if you could do a video about massaging areas of the body to stimulate the organs and how it correlates to the skin on the face. I’ve cut dairy out of my diet, which helps tremendously with my spots. But even when I eat dark chocolate, I still get small spots around my mouth? Could this just be sugar in general that my body is sensitive to or the cacao?
Nerida I'm using Rejuvi AHA cream 4 days now morning and evening, my skin is flaking off nose and chin today. Is this expected when you first start using AHAs ? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you
@@devon.pfeifer hi, I'm 52 I'm amazed that even after a few days I'm seeing a difference in the enlarged pores on my forehead . The skin on my neck is feeling a little irritated and some flaking on the nose and chin. I usually use Guinot products and their hydradermie facials
sandra byrne yeah, try only using it at night. And don’t put it on your neck too much. The neck is a very sensitive area, and a thinner area. Maybe once or twice a week you can use it on the neck. You can really irritate and burn the skin of the neck especially-I have done it myself. Use a different moisturizer in the morning. You may experience a little flaking for a little while, but you are kick starting your cells to turn over more quickly. If you are still fee really sensitized from the cream try only a few times a week.
I really have a problem with extracting stubborn blackheads sometimes as an esthetician 😣 idk if it’s the technique but I try to thoroughly clean and exfoliate that area with facial steamer but still is so stubborn ... any advice ?
You may need to work in treatment serums...soften the skin. The skin is probably really dehydrated which makes extractions very difficult for us Esties:))
I love this consultation, however it’s very important to know what products she’s been using. The history of a clients background and how clients react to products is key! She might of used a product that made her skin in the condition it’s in.
its such a good educational video, but at the same time bit painful to watch. Is it only from a point of Australian skin-care therapist? I love you Nerida, you are such an inspiration! And your strategy of repairing acid mantle - before invasive/aggressive therapies resonates with me a lot. So seeing Skin Analysis and Face Mapping with Nerida was a must see! And you were spot on here of course. BUT - could not you first find good things in client's skin? So much negativity, only once almost in the end Nerida pointed that her client was a gorgeous woman. I cannot even imagine doing such skin analysis on a client, they would come out so upset ! I think Nerida tried to stir others off from over-contributing to the issues and focusing on most important issues. We should help and heal, not hurt. And of course during skin analysis we see all the problems, but should not we first make our client feel safe, comfortable, good , not just point out that they neglected their skin?
My son (when he was a teenager) and I have both been on Roaccutane (Dermatologist prescribed) and it changed both of our lives for the better!! Our LFTs remain absolutely fine and we both have great skin, over 10 years later. Please don’t put people off this treatment, when it could be absolutely life-changing for the better!! Similar with tretinoin, which is the gold-standard treatment against signs of ageing. Yet you only ever extol the benefits of retinol, which is less effective. Is this a case of aestheticians refusing to talk about treatments that are only prescribable by Dermatologists, as it might put you out of pocket...?! Please correct me if I’m barking up the wrong tree!!
Lucy Jones for some people Accutane works for them, and could be a necessity. But when you work on people consistently, you hear them talk about their prescriptions that their derm gave them or that someone wants to prescribe them, for an acneic condition where Accutane is not a necessity. Accutane is a last resort. For many people it is a good thing for them. The frustration many of us have is with the irresponsibility of prescriptions. The same goes for prescription Retin-A. We see a lot of dermatologists give it to clients for almost anything. Now we’re not against Retin-A either. It is a good thing, and absolutely works. The problem is that many people don’t use it long enough because of the redness, irritation, and peeling that many people get, and don’t use it enough to really reap its benefits. There are many non-prescription alternatives out there that have the same effects of Retin-A without the associated side effects. They take longer to work, but they work as well. Estheticians are not against prescriptions, but many people are not prescribed responsibly, and that is really what upsets us.
Lucy, If you saw what I have seen in the 41 years i have been working hands on, it would make you cry. My work is to help people and get to the core of their problem, not to mislead them and give them a band aid to cover up warning signs. The many hours I have put into my videos for people to learn and understand shows the importance of this to me. I am not here to "put people off" I am here to help the many people that have tried Roaccutane and it did not work for them. I am not a doctor to prescribe, and by the-way, thank goodness!!!!! I am happy it worked for you and your son. I know of several people it also worked for. But, I know 100 x more the people it did not work for and thats who I am speaking too......:))
Its not so messed up...she just wasn't diligent with her daily regimen and needed some good products. She is doing much better now:)) Yes, her home care regimen is very very important... the 80/20 sounds about right.
Why does she keep saying you can diagnose? You all are not medical professionals. Only Dermatologists can diagnose. You also can not prescribe. You can only reccomend products that anyone in the public can purchase. You are using big scientific words to impress clients like you are doctors. Medical Assistants and actual RNs have had extensive schooling for their credentials. What are your credentials except beauty school?
yes, analysis is what i mostly and should be saying .... But, back where i come from and trained we did speak differently:)) read my bio for my credentials:)

Sometimes theory is not enough, you learned something through experience 👍

I’ve cut dairy out of my diet, which helps tremendously with my spots. But even when I eat dark chocolate, I still get small spots around my mouth? Could this just be sugar in general that my body is sensitive to or the cacao?
Does it happen if you have cocoa powder in something?
Chocolate is still dairy.... it depends !!
Nerida I'm using Rejuvi AHA cream 4 days now morning and evening, my skin is flaking off nose and chin today. Is this expected when you first start using AHAs ? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you
sandra byrne it’s not uncommon as they stimulate cellular renewal. What are you using AHA’s for, and what is your age?
@@devon.pfeifer hi, I'm 52 I'm amazed that even after a few days I'm seeing a difference in the enlarged pores on my forehead . The skin on my neck is feeling a little irritated and some flaking on the nose and chin. I usually use Guinot products and their hydradermie facials
I trying the AHAs anti aging, enlarged and slightly congested pores and pigmentation. I've typical Celtic skin with broken veins
sandra byrne yeah, try only using it at night.
@@devon.pfeifer thank you for the advice
How does your organs connect to your skin? Not literally but the connection between areas of the face and body
I am just a starting out esthetician. How do you see sensitivity of the cheeks? Is it from the broken capillaries around her cheeks?
Sometimes, watch my Christina videos and Carol:))
Thank you ! I’ll keep that in mind for my clients ! 💖
Hello Nerida. How do you treat sebaceous filaments & whiteheads on the nose? I heard other esti do hard wax ,and I would love to hear from you. Thanks
I have not done the hard wax thing.... but am big on cleansing and exfoliation. Have you watched my Kelly, Christina and Beverlee videos?
@@NeridaJoySkincare I did, but I'll watch it Again. Thank you 😍

I’m very good at skin analyst but I’m having a hard time or asking all the questions I need answers for n the time I have
I notice you prescribe glycolic rather than lactic in products. Are you able to elaborate thx 🥰
I like all molecules and talk about the fruit complex most of all.
How often was she recommended to exfoliate?
A couple of times a week:))
What’s the best cleaners for combination skin
Rejuvi K cleanser...suitable for most skin types. Follows Nerida’s washing method though.
Good 👍 thank you for the advice
Skin dry ho rahi hai to skin analysis me samazta hai kya
When do we get to see Selena get the works?
This was chats amongst us Esties:)
Yes, the education!
Oh how I wish that I was on that table. I have yet to find an esthetician that I trust in the Atlanta area.

mdpeach blue lotus spa Alpharetta has great products
Thank you for the recommendation 😊
I love this consultation, however it’s very important to know what products she’s been using. The history of a clients background and how clients react to products is key! She might of used a product that made her skin in the condition it’s in.
Whoa by skin you can tell the personality!? thats harsh gurl 😕. I learned a lot tho from this video
Go Selena!
Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏
Can’t thank you enough,

its such a good educational video, but at the same time bit painful to watch.
This was for this training .... you do not hear everything i say as it is not heard in the video. I am always encouraging ... and straight forward.:))
Thanks excelente

@@devon.pfeifer Exactly, thank you Devon xo:))
Devon Pfeifer where are you located? Great advice
naturalTJE I currently live in Arizona.
Loved all the information , but the constant interruptions from the curly hair lady, was pretty frustrating 😖
milia are NOT fatty, but keratin.
Poor girl. I know she has to be thinking "is it thaaat bad?"
When else are you suppose to diagnose the skin ? ? ? AFTER the facial 🙄🤣🙄🤣
:)
The lady on the right is lebanese?😁just curious
Sorry but this is legit complete BS lmao
wow shes only 23 but her skin is messed up somuch they say 80% is home regiment and 20% salon tretment
Its not so messed up...she just wasn't diligent with her daily regimen and needed some good products. She is doing much better now:))
Yes, her home care regimen is very very important... the 80/20 sounds about right.
Hi! My gf and I have a mysterious skin condition. The dermatologist is booked until May and I was wondering if I could email someone a picture and they can help me. Please, please help me
