LOVE U GUYS SO MUCH! Hope this video helps since education is harder to come by these days. Please drop something you took away from this video in the comments! 💘💘💘 thinking of you all!
Thank you for emphasizing on the fact that there’s only a limited amount of time in school, we were barely Taught about skin types and conditions and what to look for
Agreed, I didn’t made official school, not needed in my country if you don’t do lasers etc. I am a facialist, i have thousands of hours studying skin and a lot of money invested on private courses, the reason i never made official school is because i have no interest in doing nails, waxing, micropigmentation etc, and i found insuficient the training on skin itself, with that saying i consider myself to be a profesional in my area and can guarantee i dont lack any knowledge compared to other professionals who did the official training ( all areas of esthetic ) .
@marisa morais OMG thank you i needed to read this !! 🙏🏻 i am in the same exact situation where am kind of lost and dubious about the whole idea, i keep saying to my self that most people need experts with diplomas and i don't really have one..
I'm not an esthetician or studying to be one, but I am looking to start a skin care journey. This was really helpful for me as a client because I didn't know what to look for in an esthetician.
Subscribed! New esthe here and I’ve been building my clientele. I always felt like I was missing something in my consultations. This video broke down everything, will def implement these tips thank you so much!
Tess please start making videos again… where are you? I was so happy to find your videos but these ones all made while ago… I’m pretty sure that now you have much more to tell and show us. Thank you so much for your time. Thank you for great, amazing content!
I really appreciate you sharing this. I started working as a beauty therapist a month ago, and I have been struggling to find out how can I be a good therapist for clients. This is so helpful and what I wanted know!!
I just started following you, I want to thank you for all your amazing videos and how helpful you have been. I have been an esthetician for a year now and watching your videos has really allowed me to step into my confidence in what I do. Thank you for all the amazing value. I can't thank you enough.
so glad I found your account. I am currently in school becoming an esthetician. I appreciate you making content that allows me to feel more comfortable being new.
I just found your videos and I'm obsessed! Thank you so much for all the amazing content you've put out! It's sooo helpful. I've been in school for about 2 months and loving it. I shared your channel with my classmates and also my sisters haha. Your videos and instagram are inspiring me so much! I loved how in this video you emphasize being warm, professional and understanding of your clients. Also setting expectations and getting on the same page. Super great advice! Thanks Tess!!!!
Thank you for this video! It was super helpful and i took plenty notes lol! I’m a new esthetician and i just started working at Hand and Stone. If possible it would be really helpful if you could make a video on contradictions and counting education for estheticians.
I’m actually in the process of starting school soon! Eeeepppp I’m excited & nervous but luckily I already work in the dermatology field! But these videos are very helpful..thank you!!
I’m in esty school and tomorrow is my first day having real clients and I’m soo nervous I’m such an introvert and have no idea how to engage in conversation I freeze up and don’t remember anything lol I’m so nervous about the consultation
@@marilynsanchez1732 it’s been pretty good !I’m still nervous when I have a client I feel like I know what to say but when I’m face to face I freeze up

U just gain a subscriber I love the way you detailed your information This will help me go far in my career I want to become one of the top professional esthetician and consultant I believe you can help me through
Today was my second day of esti school and we are going to start practicing skin analysis on each other tomorrow! :) so excited you uploaded this I have LOVED your videos for so long!
I finished Esthetician school and passed my boards right after the Covid Pandemic happened, last July/August. I've been too scared and nervous to actually get a job yet, but I just started my vaccine process and watching your video has been very encouraging as well. Thank you so much for the refreshers! ♡
Do you fill out the form while asking them the questions or have them complete it, go over it in front of them and ask additional questions? I find i get way more info filling it out myself while asking, not sure what your opinion is. I also feel weird sitting there in silence while they fill out their form. I have the fill out their personal info name address etc and then fill the rest out with them.
This is a fantastic video thank you so much for thinking of us who went to school during pandemic. You were really informative and clear in your explanations. ❤️ I am FINALLY licensed and working in a salon after beginning school in March, two weeks, before shut down. I feel now that I’m getting the flow of how I interact with my clients in the treatment room but I never put a lot of intention or thought to what happens before. I’m ready to practice these tips with my future appointments thank you 😍✨
Random question Im not even in skincare like this but if a client says they like a certain product, is it acceptable to (ofc ask the client) but google the product and look at the ingredients? because their are so many brands and specific products but how could you possibly know all of the ingredients?
Oh yeah totally!! We are always looking into the ingredients and products. It’s also important to know as a professional that a products quality is more than just the ingredients however. The formulation is just as important and that’s something we can’t always look up. That is why I tend to recommend professional product and recommend those in a clients routine bc it speaks to the quality, ph, % of actives and overall formulation.
How do you respond during a consultation when you ask about skin concerns or what improvements they would like to see on their skin and the client responds that they have no concerns or specific needs, are happy with their cosmetic product and would just like a good facial? At this stage I find it difficult to work with that type of response or to discuss products with them. Any advise would be appreciated.
I normally just respond like "okay great so it sounds like you're really just wanting to relax and unwind?" And if the client agrees I of course cater to their specific skin type and focus on the facial, neck & shoulder massage. After the facial I might point out a few things I noticed and let the client know what services i offer as treatment for them. (If needed/wanted) in the future
i like to have a thorough hour consult and youll want 15 min before and perhaps 30 after to create a plan or do what you need to do for client care! however i know some providers do 30 min consults!
Hi Tess! thank you so much for providing your knowledge and support for esthiticians and students in training, like myself! Do you have any specific recommendations for extra courses and educational materials (preferably free or cheap, if possible) that helped you during or after school? I ask since I am currently doing distance learning and it has been tough to get the most out of the program from home :( Thank you so much in advance and I appreciate you and your channel so so much
It’s normal when clients are changing from otc skincare to professional products to experience a little purge from cell turnover! Let them know in advance it can happen. It’s always good to keep the line of communication open! If you can offer them high frequency that’s great!
i will definitely save this video for the future! i am currently in school & this is so helpful! I also make videos if you guys would like to check me out and support i would appreciate it!!
As an opinion from a 39 year industry perspective. Please stop raising your tone of voice through out the time speaking. It is very disconcerting especially when dealing with mature (40-65) clients. To us it sounds childlike and may make it difficult to take your advise seriously.
