Yep, I expected an arrogant, US teen with money type of boast, flashing money, etc. The guy seemed happy. Now I don't know his personal life and HFs always seem slimy but good for him. Just a little bragging but nothing too extreme

actually it has nothing to do with thinking you're "above" other people. If you are worth that much, its financially prudent to have your own private car and driver. For most people, waiting 5 minutes for a taxi is no big deal, but when you get to a certain level of wealth, your time becomes very valuable. Its the same reason that its not a wasteful luxury for CEOs to fly first class, its a money saving choice.
If he is in London and not coming from his place of work (or common destination) then where was his car going to park in between driving him? Seems like someone hasn't spent much time in London.
I had a neighbor where I used to live. He was a billionaire. Worth maybe $5 billion net. He lived in the same house since the late 50's or 60's. Normal neighborhood. He was in his 70's at the time and you'd see him walking in the neighborhood with his wife, holding hands together. He came from poverty, was well liked and lived quietly.
When he got older, he hired a driver to get him around in a Lincoln town car.
His children and grandchildren live like kings. They each have houses Aspen, NYC, Miami & other places. I was lucky to know him. He had so much wisdom and that's what he left me. I would've loved getting some cash too!!
He came from another country and had lived in the worst poverty.

Agreed, the video looked to me like a guy proudly explaining his life's work to someone who presumably asked. He could've been more humble and delicate, but even billionaires are as human as any of us.

I think most people are jealous of rich people, and as media continues to demonises the “richest 1%” and government using it as leverage to increase tax. I think it’s better to learn from the rich, I.e, how to manage money properly, how to run a business, how to create value for society, etc.

They were obviously chatting, driver realizes he has a big wig in his car, whips out his phone and asks him what he does for a living for the content. Guy gives a straight answer instead of the standard vague “i’m in the financial services industry” trying to end the conversation as quickly as possible. I’m a successful entrepreneur and that’s what I always do even though I genuinely enjoy talking to people, answering questions, and giving advice. I’ve learned to always keep my guard up because being honest is often misconstrued as bragging.
So much this, dude. People get angry when you tell them you’re successful. I just keep it under wraps now. No one knows I have a little bit of success.

Playing a video of someone talking about how they use the media to manupilate stock prices. “What’s important when you are in that hedge fund mode is to not do anything remotely truthful because the truth is so against your view, that it’s important to create a new truth, to develop a fiction.” Something like that.

One of my main goals in life is to be financially successful and if I ever get there I will be proud of myself and tell/brag about how I got there. When was the last time you felt “honoured” to get into a cab? That’s right, never. Pleased or grateful, yes, especially when it’s raining but never honoured. He said this in the hope the cab driver would believe he was had humility, because his intention was to let him know how successful he was in his work - and he made a point of repeating it just so that he understood. I doubt he would say that to another wealthy person because he knows he would just look and sound utterly ridiculous. He just revealed how shallow and insecure he is, I doubt the cab driver was overly impressed - unless he left him a $100,000 tip, which isn’t a lot if you’ve got vast wealth.

That’s a reasonable assumption (of corse, it is not *always* necessarily true). For example, Warren Buffett is approximately 6 times richer than Michael Platt - and Buffett has always driven himself. Many investors get really rich because with all their heart - they prefer investing rather than spending their money. They enjoy their work and the money is just way to keep the score of the game. I suspect that type of mindset is formed, in part, due to the unique psychological predispositions of some people’s personalities. For example, individuals with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder traits (#OCPD) - tend to be not just frugal but full blown misers. People like this, they tend to understand that a penny saved is a penny earned!

Seems like the taxi driver clearly asked. If anything, given the fact that Platt knew he was being filmed, the taxi driver likely knew BEFORE he asked the question on recording and then decided to record. If anything the driver probably thought it was cool to be driving someone like that. Lots of people would.
