That would get sales from any age group, mostly from the 18-25 group.
I was going to get a Ts but went with the limited with the performance package cause the car just looks better with those fog lights. I am sad the new BRZ got rid of them.
2800 pounds, don't need 300, especially at the wheel. But 200 is not enough. A boxer 4 with a little supercharger getting it to about 250-260 would be ideal. Then I'd pay 40. But not 33 in it's current state
Out of the 500 that were made, more blue colored cars were made than black and white (not combined) and all you see on TH-cam are the white ones when you just search Subaru BRZ Ts
I'm guessing it's not extremely popular because it really isn't significant. The BRZ/FRS/86 was an interesting car back then, but right now it's lacking interest. I wish Toyota would blow us away by announcing a redesign of the car with a V6 or a 2.5T engine making at least 300bhp/310 torque. That isn't even a lot for a sports car, but I strongly believe it will at least have people talking about it again!
... You/we probably won't see much development on the 86/brz as Toyota has announced plans for a 4cyl (turbo) 5th gen supra; which is still 2-3 years away, but w/that announcement, this chassis/model was doomed to languish w/minimal development, just like what Nissan did on the 370z. We might be lucky to see a new (not mid-cycle refresh) 86/brz in 2-3 years (8 yr cycle) but that is only if it is given a chance to have a 2nd gen. Even the greatest cars are killed by poor sales.
It's never going to happen. Ever. Idk why people keep whining about a 300hp car or some shit like that. IF they even bothered to, people would complain about the price. I guarantee the price would skyrocket to 40-45k easily. Then you'd hear the same people say something like what you're doing and whine that it's too expensive. And that they could buy a used Porsche, or an Alfa 4C or whatever at the price point.
@@abracing199 It's because they don't want to eliminate the market for another model. Porsche does the same if they gave the cayman more power it would be better than the 911
Well yeah, the BRZ is lighter, has the RWD setup going for it, and let's face it, the newer WRX's STI's look pretty average until you go nuts with options for appearance. And I'm kind of a fanboy... But still, yeah, the BRZ would smoke the WRX in sales if they both put out 300hp
Pulling from 50 in third gear isn't what people are asking for in overtaking. Its from 60 in 6th or even 5th that its just got no guts and the torque hole is killing it. You NEED to change down gears to 4th to pass anyone on a hwy. I mean who gives a 20ft+ torque hole, just above cruising revs, to a car with very little torque already!
As much as I like this car I think there is more value in the hyundai veloster N Turbo since is cost practically the same, it makes over 257hp vs the 205hp of this car and dealerships are not marking it up like they did with the honda type r. Plus it's got a hatch to fit all my university stuff in so..
Just buy a type R with that money or just a reg BRZ. $33k is insane. No increase in hp. Hell I would take 220 hp. But to keep it 205 hp and mark up the price is insane. The interior looks great tho.
Its usually suspension/braking upgrades most people would do themselves anyways. If we want another model we want it to either have more juicy or a better drivetrain
Sick of people saying 'but the brz is quicker on the track' how many people actually take there car on the track? And if you do, then how much time do you spend there as opposed to an actual road? Straight line speed is more fun for everyday use. The BRZ is a great car yes, but its way overpriced for what it is
If you don't live in germany straight line speed is completely useless for everyday use, this is just like 300cc bikes, you can rev the shit out of it all the time and have fun.
@@mangekyou9045 I live in Aus in a suburban area where I can't go over 60 or 100km/h. But when there is no one on the road I certainly get more of a kick out of accelerating up to 100km/h than I do being able to go around a corner slightly quicker

The TS package is basically the performance of a stock STI embedded into the last gen Brz’s, the spoiler and the body kit as well resembles a wrx sti made from 2015-21, I wish they made more of the brz ts in my opinion
the 2.5 na, depending on which 2.5, has some really annoying piston slap because of the shorter skirts on the pistons. my na 11 impreza has the most annoying piston slap. Which in the end puts so much wear in the piston rings even when subaru keeps saying the engine is fine. along with the oil consumption problems with some of the 2.5's. be happy its not the 2.5

@TheTopher 2017+ BRZ or Used 2014+ Lexus IS350 F-Sport? Is the IS350 worth the extra practicality and livability vs the BRZ? I've been debating between the two for a while and are curious to know your thoughts..
Ben Nalon more power on the is350, but the steering feel will be completely different and driving dynamics completely different. it’ll be a lot more numb compared to the BRZ :) but i will say the f sport is350s have beautiful interiors so it’s whether you care about that raw driving experience or more power and comfortableness
@@xXNotreDameLaXx honestly you have to test drive them to really get a feel, descriptions from another person will never be enough. from my experience, driving an is350 f sport was just more comfortable since the interior was nicer, but the steering was not as nearly as direct as a BRZ/FRS. also a BRZ/FRS will be a lot bumpier and harsher ride, and much more rev-happy while an is350 wont rev very high unless you're in the "manual" mode (controlling revs on an automatic)
4:05No.. they wouldn't. Just turbo it. In fact, the set-up already exists. The reason it doesn't come turbo'd is because it would cannibalize WRX sales. Plain and simple. Quit trying to act like you know exactly what it would take to give it more power like everyone watching this is just stupid or mechanically challenged. The fact that ppl are already getting good numbers from turbo/supercharger set-ups proves that it can be done with ease. Will the price go up? Well of course. But not to where it would make it unattainable. I like this car. Have no problem with how it comes from factory. Ppl just have to go into purchasing knowing it comes as a BALANCED package. Just enough for fun in the twisties and to get to work and back. If you want more power, quit whining and just do it or pay to get it done.

I was going to get a Ts but went with the limited with the performance package cause the car just looks better with those fog lights. I am sad the new BRZ got rid of them.
Imagine this with 300 hp
Edit: I’d buy if it had 300+ hp
then get a wrx simple
@@notname3790 lol ones built for track handling, other for rally. hmmmm
@@christopherrogers8316 welllll u got me
used one for 22k with somewhat low mileage, slap a SBD kit and youre good to go. It just wont be reliable lol
No. That'll interfere with their Wrx line up. You want power add it yourself. Or get the STI.
2800 pounds, don't need 300, especially at the wheel. But 200 is not enough. A boxer 4 with a little supercharger getting it to about 250-260 would be ideal. Then I'd pay 40. But not 33 in it's current state
Base brz in canada is 29k CAD... So like 25k USD? Brz is decently equipped if you want to daily it (17+ models are great
That turbo spool from that truck tho 0:48
Out of the 500 that were made, more blue colored cars were made than black and white (not combined) and all you see on TH-cam are the white ones when you just search Subaru BRZ Ts
Is it me or the rev tachometer is a bit lagging when he's pressing the gas a little harder
It’s just slow
@@mr.wiggles7535 true shit
Great driving 👍🏽
Hopefully can afford 1st gen with fairly low km's sometime next year😓🙋
You live in Michigan? I know exactly where this is. I’m just outside of Detroit! That’s so cool what a small world
Hot Take: they'll never make a true 300hp brz sti because it'll outsell and outperform the WRX sti
Mohamed Hussein why would they not want a car that sold well? that makes no sense.
Another car in desparate need of a redesign
The WRX STI is pretty much due for a revision. If they push the new WRX STI to 350hp, the BRZ/86 might see 250-270hp
I cannot believe this isn't turbocharged as standard.
No. This car shouldn't be ruined like that. There are other turbo cars for you to choose from.
Are you going to review new tS vs old tS
Wrong, the "tS" stands for "too Slow"
Haha as a BRZ owner this was a good one.
Reminds me of the del slow
As much as I like this car I think there is more value in the hyundai veloster N Turbo since is cost practically the same, it makes over 257hp vs the 205hp of this car and dealerships are not marking it up like they did with the honda type r. Plus it's got a hatch to fit all my university stuff in so..
good LORD that DI is loud. it sounds like NA miata lifter tick.
The Rev hang, holy crap
A supercharger is all it needs to be one the most fun cars ever
So beautiful
Just buy a type R with that money or just a reg BRZ. $33k is insane. No increase in hp. Hell I would take 220 hp. But to keep it 205 hp and mark up the price is insane. The interior looks great tho.
Its usually suspension/braking upgrades most people would do themselves anyways. If we want another model we want it to either have more juicy or a better drivetrain
But for real why haven’t they slapped a turbo in it
Sick of people saying 'but the brz is quicker on the track' how many people actually take there car on the track?
Their*
the way he caresses the start button lmao
Hate the bolt on spoiler otherwise it’s beautiful
What the HECK is that wing?? loool
BRZs worrying about downforce are the funniest cars ever.
Love BRZs but this package is just stupid, I'm sorry. It's tacky, doesn't improve on strenghts nor addresses any of it's weaknesses. Even the tacho and digital speedo are harder to see now.
But it looks cool af and really that what I think he was going for
Wtf are you talking about dude? A BRZ can easily reach speeds where the rear end will become "floaty" requiring some downforce.
The new cluster is way better than the orange they used to have. I feel like it would’ve bothered me at night. But either way, it’s still a fantastic car and the Ts basically is a more “serious” driving car. Meaning that it’s not silly and wants to step it’s ass out often
That engine sounds thought!!!!!
I have a BRZ Yellow, is the Ts Package basically the same thing? My spoiler is a bit differen't...and of course the car is Yellow and black, but has the brembos, upgraded suspenison, and the damps. IT's a 2017, but the concept of an upgraded suspension on a BRZ is kind of like...Really?
The TS package is basically the performance of a stock STI embedded into the last gen Brz’s, the spoiler and the body kit as well resembles a wrx sti made from 2015-21, I wish they made more of the brz ts in my opinion
I am in absolute love with the Subaru BRZ. But no way in hell is this worth almost 34k...
Why they didn't put 2.5 sti engine into this car?
the 2.5 na, depending on which 2.5, has some really annoying piston slap because of the shorter skirts on the pistons. my na 11 impreza has the most annoying piston slap. Which in the end puts so much wear in the piston rings even when subaru keeps saying the engine is fine. along with the oil consumption problems with some of the 2.5's. be happy its not the 2.5
*gets in starts it revs it right away*
Me: MAN WHY?!?
@@terraformingcats8175 I thought about that too. I'm going to assume Topher is smart enough to know this, and even though we come in at the "beginning", he's already driven and warmed up the car before he started shooting the video. I think he does this in most of his videos.
This car is the most perfect sport car that is also cheap
Sounds like my 1.6 L civic starting up lol
Famus 801 hell naw it does not quit lying my guy 😂
StatiicMods yes it does its stock asf can’t hear shit
No it does not , i own a honda at the moment. & this one it’s a bit louder then the Honda
StatiicMods well I have an exhaust on my mine sounds exactly the same
ill stick with my 2013 frs
This is way quicker on the track then the miata
People complain about “oh it needs a turbo” but then would complain if the price increased due to a turbo. Half the ppl complaining about power are too broke to even afford a new one straight forward anyway lol
Amen.
My Dream vehicle :o
Honestly, Subaru should just slap the sti engine in there
its supposed to sound like that?? sounds like a engine knock almost
Wow that thing sounds super ticky
@TheTopher 2017+ BRZ or Used 2014+ Lexus IS350 F-Sport? Is the IS350 worth the extra practicality and livability vs the BRZ? I've been debating between the two for a while and are curious to know your thoughts..
Ben Nalon more power on the is350, but the steering feel will be completely different and driving dynamics completely different. it’ll be a lot more numb compared to the BRZ :) but i will say the f sport is350s have beautiful interiors so it’s whether you care about that raw driving experience or more power and comfortableness
@@vincentxtran Are the is350's (f sport only) driving dynamics comparable to the BRZ's at all?
@@xXNotreDameLaXx honestly you have to test drive them to really get a feel, descriptions from another person will never be enough. from my experience, driving an is350 f sport was just more comfortable since the interior was nicer, but the steering was not as nearly as direct as a BRZ/FRS. also a BRZ/FRS will be a lot bumpier and harsher ride, and much more rev-happy while an is350 wont rev very high unless you're in the "manual" mode (controlling revs on an automatic)
How does it drift stock?
4:05No.. they wouldn't.
How much faster will it really get with an Turbo
Love the brz dash but not the 200hp lol
Amateur here; Someone please Explain!-->; Something that really got me confused is that this is a manual transmission but he is changing gears without a clutch pedal. Seems to press the brake pedal with left foot?!! But is this common in the US manual transmission cars? I used to drive in India where we use the clutch for changing gears.
He's using the clutch. It's just hard to see with how dark it is in the footwell compared to the daylight outside the car.
While most of us in the states drive automatics, our standards are just live everyone else's. Gas, brake, clutch. Anyone with a brain will use their clutch to change gears.
the TRD or the tS?? hmmm
this is so nice
