Uhh!!! WHAT A YEAR!!!!! I remember it like yesterday and yeah, FUCK Justin Timberlake for how he did Britney and Janet!!!!!! You have to do 2005 and 2007 next!!!!! I NEED to see The Emancipation of Mimi & Blackout highlighted for the GREATNESS that they were. We had such a great problematic childhood, lol!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think it’s funny how I don’t intentionally try to mention her in every video I make but she just always ends up popping up in some capacity because she’s literally been relevant for so long.
@@AdovianDoneswym? 20 years later she still topping the charts. Not many of her peers can do that. She is competing with TikTokers who have now invaded the charts aka Benson Boone, Tate Mcrae, Etc

"Yeah!" was a breath of fresh air musically in 2005, and for Usher's music career in general! (But yes, The Emancipation of Mimi was coming!!! "We Belong Together" was so massive that Mariah Carey even blocked her own self! Her song, "Shake It Off", was stuck at number two! Her live Grammy performance for The Emancipation of Mimi's "Fly Like a Bird" is a video in itself!!! One of the best "comebacks" in music history!)
Definitely needed this video! I turn 35 this Saturday and been in a nostalgic vibe all month! Music was definitely something different 20 years ago. SN: i feel old af 😂😂
I am at the moment useing nostalgia as life support 😢 and yep i remember when usher had like 6 songs at once on the radio going crazy!!!!!!!! He had " Yeah" Lovers and freinds" " caught up" " my boo" " confessions part 2" " Let it burn" . It really was the thriller of the 21 century.
Great video, Wayne! Thoroughly enjoyed the trip down musical empty lane and your calming/chill narration. It’s wild how people treated Janet . Like, wtf? Everyone acted like she was some fame-hungry awful person that intentionally did this
What was it like? So good… 😢 I was in the class of 2004…back when we still blasted the radio everytime we rode in the car. And we knew practically every song. Some of the most nostalgic songs for that era, for me, is "Oh" by Ciara & Luda, and "1-2 Step" & "Goodies" of course. Britney & Madonna. Jojo "Get Out" & "Too Little Too Late"… any of Beyoncé’s debut singles, Usher, 50 Cent, all of Mariah's _Emancipation_ album, OutKast, Gwen Stefani's debut album… there was a lot. I’m surprised "What You Waiting For" wasn’t as successful here; the stations here in SoCal played it all the time, same with her song "Luxurious" with Slim Thug.
Gwen’s Love Angel Music Baby is such an interesting album! Could you do a video about her? (Including her time with No Doubt. It seems people often forget about their influence)
I was 12 in 2004 and still the songs remain iconic 20yrs after. Still these classic pop, rnb and hip hop tracks from this year (early 2000s to mid 2010s essentially) are still in my playlist rotation especially when driving.
It’s sad Janet honestly struggled the rest of her career I guess till Unbreakable. Sad bc Feedback was a HIT. JT getting that long karma. He’s COOKED now.
Fresh from the success of her debut album Let Go which was released in 2002 and sold 6 million copies in the US, Avril Lavigne in less than 2 years released her follow up album Under My Skin on May 2004. With the release of its first single Don't Tell Me, the album debuted at number 1 on Billboard 200 Album chart.
What I take away from this is that every single one is a banger. Even the songs that aren't a particular genre I would usually listen to. Shows how much music has declined today 😢
10:13 OMG ... I can't believe WayneTv Mentone George Michael that's so cool. George is a legend & deserves so much recognition.
