    I had just about given up on Logseq, but you have rejuvenated my determination to wrangle this thing into submission for my uses. Thank you so very much. As frustrated as I was becoming with Logseq and its functionality with blocks versus pages and the confounding confusion introduced by using Obsidian, you have opened my understanding of just what is going on with the blocks, indentations, and pages. You provided a super eye-opener for me. Thank you.

    For many years, I've seen people in forums have a very condescending attitude. They are in "attack" mode and are more interested in picking on the person or making them feel "dumb", rather than actually helping the person. I don't get it either! It's like, "why???" Thanks for the video. I'm definitely liking Logseq more and more. :)

      Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏻 Most people just want to be seen / heard I guess. And it's easier to do that via attacking than by remaining open (and vulnerable to attack)

    Your videos are really good! Thank you for making them. The one kind-of big shortcoming for me is that they are all very high level / theoretical. I'd love to see more working examples - learn by doing, not just by showing. So basically, real life use cases. How do you use templates in your daily life, how about properties, more realistic examples than "this is a template, this is how you do it". But why, when, where, have you found this feature to be useful. I think if you got out of your example database and into a real working database (maybe add #private and filter it all out) it would be more useful to me and other people.

    • @CombiningMindsPKM
      @CombiningMindsPKM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Will, appreciate the feedback. There are a few working sessions in the mix, but the course is where I really break things down step by step. That's not to say that future channel videos won't include that though.

      Hi John. This is not a Logseq feature - I just opened different programs on the same screen. If you're a Windows user, whilst in Logseq push the Windows Key and the right arrow. Then open your folder and push Windows key and left arrow and you'll get the same view :)

    Hi, around 24:44 the "all pages" on the left is visible and it seems you have managed to somehow categorise your pages - how? :-) I am trying to implement some basic folder-hierarchy like system but failing so far. :-) Is it all done by Namespaces?

    • @CombiningMindsPKM
      @CombiningMindsPKM  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there.
      I think what you are referring to is the pages that I've saved to my "Favorites" panel, although I'm not sure.
      The basic hierarchy that I use is implemented with namespaces, e.g.
      [[Projects/OneStutteringMind]]
      [[Projects/OneStutteringMind/videos]]
      [[Projects/OneStutteringMind/blog]]
      or...
      [[Scratchpad/Organisations]]
      [[Scratchpad/Personal]]

    So intersting ! Thanks a lot ! I'm discovering since few days this genre of apps and Logseq which I felt in love with. It's exactly what I was looking for since many years.
    I see in the Template part of the video that in your graph, the properties shown are the ones with elements (like type:: [[article]]). For me, all the properties are shown even the empty ones. Do you know how I can fix it ?

    • @CombiningMindsPKM

      The empty ones also show on my page properties, but not in block properties for me.

      @CombiningMindsPKM  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, not exactly sure what you're referring to TBH 😅 If you mean the box (which appears grey to me) around the metadata, that's achieved by using properties 🙂

    In terms of leaving clues, I really wish Logseq or any other similar app would identity suggested words and phrases for my notes either as I type or after I hit the Return key. There's a plugin that does what I'm talking about. But it should be a default feature.

    • @CombiningMindsPKM
      @CombiningMindsPKM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think Mem.ai does what you're looking for 🙂
      It's so interesting, everyone is looking for different features in a PKM system. If that were a default feature I would turn it off immediately, as I would find it very distracting. This is why I think the plugin system is so great, because you can get (or build) what it is you're looking for.

    Very nice and thanks. I created a template for a coaching session. One line item in the template is called notes:: . Is there a way to have multiple sub notes within that template without breaking up the template? As soon as I press return, it breaks the template. Only if I have one long continuous note does it work. Appreciate your feedback. Or anyone else who knows.

    • @CombiningMindsPKM

      You can either indent the template underneath a higher-level parent block or press "Shift-Return" to enter a soft line break.

    Thank you for all these very interesting videos. I'm on Roam Research, testing Logseq, and using Obsidian. Unfortunately, for the moment, probably due to errors on my part (I deleted a lot of old useless pages and the import of Roam Research is not perfect because Roam which does not quite respect markdown! ) I can no longer use logseq under Win (javascript error on installation) Under Linux, the Flatpak version no longer launches (Sqlite error) The Android version and App image work but strange things have happened like the creation of namespaces files / while I have done nothing... I think you have to be careful for the moment and make very regular backups because it is in beta and as far as I am concerned lacks stability (This which is normal in beta)

    • @CombiningMindsPKM
      @CombiningMindsPKM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Francis. I commend you for the positive attitude with regards to the beta - other users tend to lose their s***. Have you discussed these challenges on the Discord server? I think the developers would be keen to unpack or resolve errors like this.

    Logseq is heavily cached. And that is the only thing which still keeps me from completely committing to it. The tip nr2 usually works fine. But what do you do when it doesn't?
    What if files didnt have time to sync. E.g. You start typing in Logseq, changes didnt write into file, then at the same time sync happens, and you continue typing, then finally Logseq writes into file. But now it is too late, because sync tries to pull back and there is conflict between which note is correct. In the end you end up losing notes. Even worse if you have auto-commit setup with hooks. If that is not enough, try use "Refresh" & "Reindex" during all this madness and you have lost even more notes.
    Nevertheless, nice video and thanks for sharing your findings!

    • @CombiningMindsPKM
      @CombiningMindsPKM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. Hopefully with the in-house syncing solution things will get better :)
      But yeah, I think sometimes 'just re-index' is used too loosely and people lose notes (and trust!), particularly if they weren't on some cloud service in the first place.
