When you add your first citation in Word, Zotero will open a list of citation styles. Choosing APA7, for example, will mean the citations are automatically in (Author, Year) and format. If you need to, you can then manually change it to Author (Year). NB: I usually leave this bit until the end, but that's just my preference.

Yes, you need to choose a document style that is author-date for zotero. Mine is typically set to ACS which is a superscript.
