    I've had Swiss Muesli that soaked overnight in Half & Half....but never thought about adapting that to Steel Cut Oaks. Fantastic. Can't wait to try this. Thank you so much for showing this.

    I bought a 25lb bag of Rolled oats to make overnight oats from bulk barn, opened the bag a few weeks later and they ended up being steel-cut oats, I'm glad they can still be used for overnightoats!

    I made these last night, ate them this morning. Holy moly, how can you say this is delicious with a straight face. Milky, watered-down oats is what I got. Not at all creamy like yours in the video. Might as well have filled a mason jar with cat litter and skim milk over night JESUS

    I didn’t realize you could do overnight oats with steel cut oats! Awesome! I love making chia seed pudding so I’ll just add my chia seeds to the steel cut oats! I’ll be adding fresh mango since that’s about the only fruit I’m not allergic too 😎😊

    Steel cut oats does not cook by soaking overnight. I watched a few videos claiming that it does and it is not true. I boiled half water and half milk, put the steel cut oats in, and left it overnight and it was not ready 10 hrs later. I had to cook it another 15 mins the next day!
    Does anyone know why they are making such a claim?

      Have you looked at Dr. Greger's How Not to Diet book or the Daily Dozen phone app? The research shows that we get a discount on calories consumed in the morning and that we should stop eating by 7pm. This holds true even for those who work night shift. Anyway, I thought you may be interested since you wrote that you're trying to lose weight and also usually skip breakfast.
      I highly recommend the phone app. It has two modes, one is the normal Daily Dozen that is the distillation from his book How Not to Die and it has another mode called 21 Tweaks from How Not to Diet. It's the simplest way to benefit from all of the research without having to look at a ton of evidence. But, the evidence is available should you like to take a peek.

      The steel cut quick oats are better for overnight oats. The other won’t soften up in time.

      with strawberries about 2 days (they go mushy). without them up to 5. You can always make this without the fruit and add the fresh fruit last minute.

    I made a big jar the other day and my jaw got sore eating them. I shook up the jar several times. Before the refrigerator and a couple of times after being in the refrigerator. I used a big jar and about a cup of oats. I'm wondering if it was just too much oats or something. Are your oats super chewy and give your jaw a workout or did I do something wrong?

    Thank you for the video! I made some last night with steel cut oats, whole milk, maple syrup and some raspberries. Do steel cut oats keep their texture unlike instant oats which become mushy? Just trying to figure out if I made them correctly. I did let them sit overnight in the fridge. Thank you!! :)

      I find boiling them them for a few minutes then turning the stove off and letting them sit overnight really helps. Just letting them sit in the fridge doesn’t work for me either. You can also cook it in a slow cooker! They come out nicely that way too :)

    • @MOMables

      What kind of oats did you use? steel cut oats should not be raw. They should have absorbed the liquid. They will not be porridge-mush like when cooked on the stove but they should not be raw.

    • @MOMables
      @MOMables  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bob’s steel cut are minimally sliced. Their oats are almost the whole groat and will take much longer to absorb than most other brands. I personally think they are only good for a heat method. I am going to add this as a note to the blog post -thank you for clarifying
