Just bought my EOS M and it seems like not having to worry about battery compartment accessibility gives me a ton of extra flexibility for cages. Starting with the ACK-E12 purchase. I've been a photographer since '82 (wonderful Pentax ME Super that I still own) but have been using cheap digital cameras. These EOS M videos have encouraged me to get back into interchangeable-lens photography with this camera. Thanks!
Thanks man!! I totally just made one of these for timelapse work! I was a bit shaky with the soldering and totally worried I would fry my camera but it works perfectly!!!
Great stuff, thanks for the tips. I did it too. BUT a word of warning! Always check the polarity of the plug and the cord. In my case the cord with grey markings was actually plus, not minus! You never know about this chinese stuff. I first soldered without testing and the camera would not turn on with the new NP-battery. I got it working again with original battery but after short time I got error message and even some electrical smell. I thought I destroyed the camera body but after letting it cool down and changing the polarisation correctly it seems it is working as it should with the new NP battery. Go figure... I just really hope I did not destroy my camera. I will know tomorrow better when I will film a concert with it.
Hi I was verymuch impressed by your are video. I am wondering if I can make similar battery powerpack for my samsung camcorder SC-HMX10c. The chager plate is available for IA-BP85StT on ebay for less than 2 pounds. Any ideas?
I usually wouldn't like a video to be this long, but your ingenuity was interesting. (Your English and your video could use some work). Maybe one day, we can help each other. 👍🏾❤️🤓
I have done the steps of making the wiring from the SONY NP battery to the EOS M DC Coupler, but when I plug it in, it says "Change the battery pack", then I try to put the Eos M original battery and turn on for couples of seconds then off, and then plug in the Sony NP to EOS M DC coupler again, Voila it's works but just for couples of minutes, then the warning start to show again "Change the battery pack" Over and over again. Do you know why is this happening ? I look at your battery meter in the video its showing of Full power ? My Sony NP Battery have fully charge too :(( Do you using the original Battery pack from canon or it was not ? Thanks
+Arief Idrus sorry. i don't get it right. i have 4 big ones and 2 small ones. all of them works without problem. even many people tried it and others ordered the same system from me. and there is no problem at all. only one other guy has told me he did a mistake in wiring the + and - so he had a problem. but he resolved it. the batteries and parts i used are the same one in the links in the video description... and your question i didn't understand it. about the original battery pack from canon! i hope you don't damage your camera... be carefull please
@Ariel Idrus, did you get to resolve this issue? I know it's been a year and all but you need to check to make sure you aren't using an older NPF battery. Like something already used for LED lights, it lowers it somehow. I cant explain it but that's what I see. I had the same issue because I used an NPF styled battery that works very well with my 10-bulb LED but when I changed to an original sony (for camera) it worked! BTW, the same battery from my LED light wouldn't power any of my sony cameras (HD1000E) even though it powered the lights no problem. Thats how I figured it woulda been the battery.
Muakherul Islam i don't use the camera for photography so i can't tell you exactly. and it depends on if you focus manually or AF but be sure it holds much longer than the stock Battery. and for videos it will hold for fiew hours. and much more than the stock one anyway :) i still haven't recharged them since i bouth them. only first charging before first use. and i tried them many times ...
+Slaysomechrome Worth (Allpro) it works and i still own the setup. there is no problems and it is always full i already shot alot of events and clips with that setup. and i still had no problems to mention just an illimitet free source of power i call it :) thanks for watching
for ever. i still never needed to recharge it during footages. i can't tell you ecactly. and don't forget i always use external monitor. so i save much power when my camera monitor is off all the time...
i made it with metal brakets. but it is not that easy. there is much heating and welding work in it. you better go for flash brakets cage. i did the same. this one was not perfect and it scratched my camera thx
Btw do you have magic lantern on your eos-m? if you don't i highly recommend it,its awesome make a big difference . Thanks for the vid I just ordered this battery and charger from ebay. thanks
Sehr informatives, nützliches Video - danke sehr. ... Der "normale" Netzadapter mit Dummy-Battery, den du am Anfang des Videos verwendest - magst du den bitte auch verlinken? :)
hey man, you did the long long way to get more battery time for the eos M,.. i can show you a much better and easier way,.. i will make a video soon...
+Created Films interrested to see the way you did it. but you can't tell me that mine is not that good. almost 10.000 views and many has built the same . and many asked me to make the same and send it to them and i already finished and delivered 3 to different places in the world. please share your video in a comment when it is done. i am a gear freakand i really enjoy watching such stuff and learn more. thanks

true Victor. I already have 4 batteries. But that doesn't address all the issues implied by short eos-m battery life - e.g. the timelapse usage and video usage (battery replacement in a rig...)

+Viktor D. - he actually used the AC adapter in this video to adapt the battery. But out in the nature there's no powerplug, therefore this video is very useful.

How or where did you get the battery cover for the EOS M...Did you drill your own hole and add a cover yourself?
it is Original standard all of them comes the same. only if it is an other model. but all canons have that opening in the battery door
AWESOME, I DONT KNOW HOW YOU DID THAT BUT AWESOME
Whats that buzzing noise in the video?Does the EOS-M make that buzzing noise with this new battery setup?
this video was shot with a nikon. the eos m i was working on if you noticed that

What do you call the piece you're attaching to the charger that you attached to the rods?
check the video description, all parts are mentioned. the charger adaptor is screwed to an L metal Braket that is screwed to a rod clamp.
the rod clamp, perfect! do you purchase those separately?

A lot easier to buy 2 extra canon batteries.

You are right about the short battery life. For time lapse shoots, is there an a/c adapter to use instead of the battery, for prolonged vudeo usage?
