For those who are here early, the video is still processing! 1080p50 should be up in about 2 hours or so (hopefully less). The Black Drum in the video was my #68 Species! I know that there are a lot of White Perch in the video and it gets a bit repetitive; however, that was to show you folks that it takes a lot of fish to catch something new. Sometimes Multi-Species angling is all about quantity over quality. By the way...If you folks are curious, here is my Master Species Album on GOOGLE+: plus.google.com/u/0/photos/106878681877990790720/albums/5954361830417785265
Captaincavern200 -- Due to your Google+ configurations, I am unable to answer to you directly. Please make sure to change it for faster replies. As for your comment, I appreciate the constructive criticism. The 50lbs Power-Pro Braided line was equipped on that rod when I went down to Ocean City, NJ. Being a Multi-Species angler, I have to work with the configurations what I have. Thus, I just decided to use my heavy action in case bigger Black Drum hit. I guarantee you that reeling them in at such speeds and power-playing them does not bring the fishes harm. As for being "sporty," you can watch my other videos and draw your own conclusions. For the name -- I named my Channel "Extreme Philly Fishing" in homage of "Urban Fishing." Most of the fishing in Philadelphia is done in the Schuylkill River and Delaware River, which are two urban bodies of water that are highly underrated. Thus, the "Extreme" comes from the novelty and fun of exploring waters where usually folks wouldn't fish at, and catching Species of fish that folks would usually redeem to as "rough fish." Tight lines and FISH ON!
Dylan Watson -- Unfortunately I'm unable to answer to you directly due to your google+ configurations. As for your comment: awesome, man! Glad to hear that you folks are catching fish. :)
Andrew Hardy -- Unfortunately, I can't answer to your comment directly due to your Google+ Configurations. The fish portrayed in the video is definitely a Black Drum. The position of the mouth was downwards, with lack of presence of teeth. 4-6 pairs of barbels under its jaw, which is a characteristic unique to Black Drum. Finally, the Drum "croaked" like a Croaker -- another indicator of the Black Drum Species. Tight lines!
+Keystone Angler Thank you very much, Keystone Angler! Definitely a cool looking fish. I was definitely happy to add it to my collection. Tight lines and FISH ON!
+speckspeck -- Due to your Google+ configurations, I am unable to answer to your comments directly. Please make sure to change your privacy settings for timely answers. As for your comment -- that one was certainly a baby. Hah. I have seen the big ones -- they put up a great fight! Tight lines!
Lol in the beginning of the video when you said you got your first ever black drum I laughed because that was the first ever fish I caught. Nice video btw.
+kyle crane That is the Salem River around the Route 40 something. I don't really remember, but a quick google map search will show you where this is located at. Tight lines and fish on, Kyle!
+Loretta Smith I didn't really eat the Catfish, but I will certainly eat the Perch! Who knows...maybe I will put up a little cooking video on the White Perch. Hah. Thanks, Loretta! Tight lines!
nj fishing -- Unfortunately, I can't reply to you directly due to your Google+ configurations. Please make sure to change it if you want timely responses in the future. As for your comment, the fish portrayed in the video is 100% a Black Drum. While both the Sheephead and Black Drum have vertical stripes, Sheephead tends to have more than 4 stripes at all times. Also, the Sheephead's mouth is not downwards, not to mention that the same has some powerful teeth. Finally, a Sheephead does not have the feelers under the mouth, not to mention the croaking sound once they are out of the water. Tight lines!
+Extreme Philly Fishing dang man you got more juvenile fish i had ever seen anyone catch in one day lol. I don't even think i have ever caught a fish like a bass or catfish in juvenile stage of life. Only sunfish
Jonathan Burton Hah. Indeed, Jonathan. When it comes to Multi-Species fishing and micro-fishing, I catch lots of fishes in all their stages of life. Tight lines and fish on!
yeah man you're a lot like i am, interested in the adventure and mystery aspect of fishing more than the competitive sport and food only aspect like my father and grandfather lol
I’m definitely gonna try surf clams or at least salted clams there, will probably result in more and bigger black drum and stripers. Cats and perch will also eat that all day.
I fished out on the breaker near the Delaware Memorial Bridge and caught some huge fish. Stripers, blues, weakfish and a sturgeon but the line snapped because of the scary huge size. When i brought it up to the water's surface it made me take a deep breath in. Every bit of 6feet in length. Of course the kind of catch depends on the season. And on the breaker I'm pretty far out on the river.
hey buddy. great video as always. the time you take to film your fishing trips is very much appreciated. thank you for sharing. a clean and cook video would be awesome. thanks again
+Jim Rusay Absolutely. I'm glad that you have been enjoying the videos. Thanks for watching and following the Channel. The White Perch were cleaned and they are in the freezer for now. Maybe I will do a video on the cooking! Thanks for the suggestion. Tight lines!
Hey Extreme Philly Fishing! There is a pier in Venice, Fl that is called Sharky's. It is a good pier and has a ton of fish sitting around it. You can even catch Snook from the pier. There are Tarpon around their top. You should go fishing there sometime because you would have good luck
+Joseph Park That is good information for sure, Joseph. I wouldn't be surprised if Summer Flounder (_Paralichthys dentatus_) made its way up there. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Great Video Professor...Congrats on the Drum...I have been doing a lot of Brackish water fishing myself lately but haven't seen any Striped Bass, is there a time line (month? Time of day?) of when they begin to appear ???
+ufounddiesel74 Reptilefreak72 pretty much nailed it. I usually do end of October and beginning of November. P.s. They are present in the Schuylkill River in Center City Philadelphia during the Fall as well. Heh. Tight lines, brother!
Leo that is so funny...I can`t believe you caught a Drum is the Salem river...That happened to me this year also! I caught my 1st Black Drum in Absecon bay this year when I wasn`t even fishing for them...As a matter of fact, I caught 3 puppy Drum. But all those late nights fishing for them and go figure I catch them over there....Well that`s fishing for you...Good job and tight lines!
+MrGb4ever Interesting. It seems that folks are catching more and more weird stuff around NJ waters. Hah. Probably something to do with weather patterns. Glad that you caught some Drum, though! Tight lines for you as well. brother!
+Theidiotdownthestreet Definitely. Once water temperatures get a little bit higher, I will make sure to hit a pier down the shore. I have a couple other videos of myself fishing on a pier in Florida, though. i.e. th-cam.com/video/YlCG_W_0fo8/w-d-xo.html Tight lines, theidiotdownthestreet!
+ufounddiesel74 Not really. North Jersey is pretty much next on my list of exploration. I already started in the Trenton Area, and I will move towards Princeton University and go North. As a matter of fact, my next video coming up in on the Gropp Lake and Crosswicks Creek around Trenton, NJ. :)
+Extreme Philly Fishing that's great to hear....maybe eventually you can hit way up north and fish the Hudson River, Hackensack River , and Passaic River
The Yellow Belly Catfish is called a Yellow Bullhead (_Ameiurus natalis_), Tanner. :) I appreciate the input, though! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
+Bao Nguyen Hahaha. I feel you, Bao. This year I haven't focused so much on sizes. I really went around exploring and catching new Species, which is often a problem for catching trophy fish. I will make sure to do some nice videos on BIG fish when I have the opportunity. Thanks for the suggestion! Tight lines and FISH ON!
+Randall Fry Definitely looking forward to that, Randall! I would love to go down there to the Keys and just fish to my heart's contents. :) Tight lines and fish on!
I love how you drop a knowledge bomb on us at the end of your videos!!! Your videos are very entertaining, thanks for posting them man! If i may make one request...... id like to see some fillet videos, to see how you clean and cut up different species. Would be very awesome to see something like that! thanks
i know it has been a while since posting but can you post your location? I am planning on fishing that area of SJ this spring and summer with my son and am looking for a few good places...THX
+That Guy To tell you the truth, I would have to look at the map to pinpoint the exact location of this trip. After all, I didn't drive down there. I slept on my way there. Haha. I can tell you; however, that the Salem River (brackish) is good all around! So, as far as you can find a public area to fish at, you should be good. Tight lines, That Guy!
+Simpsorama50 No problem! Thanks for watching and following the Channel. I am always glad to hear that the subs enjoy it. For Striped Bass, the Fall run is pretty much here -- the big ones will be moving into tributaries pretty soon. It really depends on where you are, though. You could use bloodworms or small baits for the smaller ones or zoom flukes and bombers for the bigger ones.
+Extreme Philly Fishing I got one more question, since i live right near the hudson and its brackish water should i use nightrcawler and clams too i was also thinking of using cut bait shrimp, I have caught 35 species and not one of them are salt water yet i am so upset that i have not caught a salt water fish yet.
+Simpsorama50 Interesting...You have caught 35 different Species in the Hudson, but not a single Saltwater Species? Are you sure that the area that you are fishing is actually brackish water? I am not familiar with the Hudson River -- that's why I am asking. And yes -- I would definitely try clams. Everything in saltwater loves clams! Tight lines, Simpsorama!
+Evan Henley I am actually going down to Florida on the last week of October. And I am planning a few fishing sessions down in D.C. and Virginia as well. We will see how it going. :) Tight lines, Evan!
+Jimmy Vang I appreciate the suggestion, Jimmy. I didn't keep the American Eel (_Anguilla rostrata_) for human consumption, though. I usually save them for bait. Heh. Tight lines and fish on!
link: (facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10200682570663203&set=a.10200271705391828.1073741828.1729130918&type=3&theater) sorry i forgot to add it into the original post
+Antonio Sannicandro I tend to cook my fish whole, so I don't waste a single gram of meat. LOL. But before consuming any fish, I do my research on safe fish consumption. In other words, I check to see if fishes from a certain area are actually edible. I am always looking at the amount of PCBs and Heavy Metals in them. :) Tight lines, Antonio!
Antonio Sannicandro I don't quite understand the question. You mean where is the hyperlink to edit your about section? It should be somewhere in your homepage when you log in. Tight lines and fish on!
+Gabriel Molotsky I am sure that the place is private; however, there were absolutely no signs of _"no trespassing"_ signs, fences, or even a gate. The place didn't even have a gate. And there were plenty of signs there that people fish there all the time. Of course if the owner of the property or the authorities showed up, I would have quietly left. However, if it doesn't happen and there are no indicators that they don't want us there, then I will fish it and pledge ignorance. Tight lines, Gabriel!
+Loretta Smith I just google mapped it. Even with a nuclear power plant around, the biodiversity is still healthy unless there are leaks or illegal dumping (i.e. the explosion that happen in Japan a while back). Tight lines.
+ProcardcollecterAndGamer That's a good question, brother. I have never fished the Hudson River in NY yet, so I wouldn't know. However, I would expect the Hudson to have at least some White Perch and Catfish Species. Tight lines!
There's been a ton of baby black drum in the bay this year, more than I've seen in a while, and that's a good sign. lol wait until you run into a much bigger one, it will test your endurance, both your rod/reel and yourself LMAO!!
+Johnny Bui Fishing You are the saltwater expert here, so what you say must be true! Heh. Good luck with the Fall semester! I will look forward to your future videos, Johnny. Tight lines!
+daysjaun That was the Salem River down the street from Wal-Mart in Pennsville, NJ. And for bait, I pretty much used pieces of salted clam and nightcrawlers. Since it's brackish water, nightcrawlers worked well.
I appreciate the input, Carole. Upon further review, I can tell you that the smaller Catfish in this video are Brown Bullhead (_Ameiurus nebulosus_). Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I sincerely don't remember exactly where it is located at, AMD. I know that it is above route 40 something, right on the Salem River! And to fish it, you definitely need a NJ fishing license. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
+PlayerrTw0 Brackish water is a combination of freshwater and saltwater. Therefore, in brackish water, you can actually find certain saltwater and freshwater Species that are tolerant to low salinity levels (low salt content in the water).
+xPtoch Hah. Trout season in PA is upon us! Once it comes, maybe I will do a couple videos on cooking and smoking. :) Thanks for the suggestion. Tight lines!
+hostel tomato They are actually two separate Species of fish. The White Catfish portrayed in this video is of the Bullhead genus -- Ameiurus. It's often referred to as an "Ameiurus catus." The Blue Catfish is in the same genus as the Channel Catfish -- Ictalurus. It's often referred to as an "Ictalurus furcatus." To compare a White Catfish to a Blue Catfish, make sure to watch my video on the Potomac River: th-cam.com/video/Eb0wj30vWA4/w-d-xo.html Tight lines, Hostel!
+Christopher Porter That is 100% a Black Drum (_Pogonias cromis_), Christopher. Black Drum just so happens to have vertical black bars when they are young. Salt water anglers around here like to call them _"Puppy Drum."_ Once they grow up, they lose those black bars. Also, Black Drum have little barbels under their mouths and lack big teeth -- both characteristics opposite to that of a Sheephead's (_Archosargus probatocephalus_). The shape of its body is also a little bit different than a Black Drum's. Tight lines and fish on!
+bernier 14 Definitely agree with you, bernier 14! Blood worms are pretty expensive around my area right now, though. I think it's one dozen for $10 bucks! Yikes. But they are soooo good for fishing! Hah. Tight lines and FISH ON!
+William Gonzalez Wait...White Catfish and Blue Catfish are different Species, though. White Catfish = Ameiurus catus and Blue Catfish = Ictalurus furcatus. I will have a video of Blue Catfish coming up in the near future, so you can compare both of them. :) Tight lines, William!
dear EPF i love your vids i catch creek chubs with all of my friends in philly we always watch you and you are my favorite youtuber

In other words, I check to see if fishes from a certain area are actually edible. I am always looking at the amount of PCBs and Heavy Metals in them. :) Tight lines, Antonio!
Extreme Philly Fishing thanks you too
How do you do the about part of a channel
Antonio Sannicandro I don't quite understand the question. You mean where is the hyperlink to edit your about section? It should be somewhere in your homepage when you log in. Tight lines and fish on!
Extreme Philly Fishing ok you wanna check out my channel
Extreme philly fishing what kind of reel should I get for pond fishing
+Casey Fitzgerald It depends on what you want to catch (i.e. size of the fish, Species, etc). Tight lines, Casey!
Can u come to ny and fish Central Park.
Leo , How many fish do you eat for dinner ? !!!!!! That's a lot of fish......
Great vid
+christian cucinotta Thanks for watching and following the Channel, Christian! Tight lines and FISH ON!
How did you fish there? That's private property.
+Extreme Philly Fishing Ok, thanks for the information!
Hi, do I need NJ fishing license to fish here in Salem River?
the Salem nuclear. power plant is in Lower Alloways creek in Salem county
+Loretta Smith I just google mapped it. Even with a nuclear power plant around, the biodiversity is still healthy unless there are leaks or illegal dumping (i.e. the explosion that happen in Japan a while back). Tight lines.
Ha! You're in my town here!
Does the Hudson have these fish?
+ProcardcollecterAndGamer That's a good question, brother. I have never fished the Hudson River in NY yet, so I wouldn't know. However, I would expect the Hudson to have at least some White Perch and Catfish Species. Tight lines!
it does but only bullhead not catfish
There's been a ton of baby black drum in the bay this year, more than I've seen in a while, and that's a good sign. lol wait until you run into a much bigger one, it will test your endurance, both your rod/reel and yourself LMAO!!
+Johnny Bui Fishing You are the saltwater expert here, so what you say must be true! Heh. Good luck with the Fall semester! I will look forward to your future videos, Johnny. Tight lines!
Where exactly was that? And were those night crawlers or blood worms?
+daysjaun That was the Salem River down the street from Wal-Mart in Pennsville, NJ. And for bait, I pretty much used pieces of salted clam and nightcrawlers. Since it's brackish water, nightcrawlers worked well.
Extreme Philly Fishing thanks bro i fished at fort mott a couple times and got skunked.I'll have to try down there this weekend
The yellow one was a mud catfish
I appreciate the input, Carole. Upon further review, I can tell you that the smaller Catfish in this video are Brown Bullhead (_Ameiurus nebulosus_). Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Fishing with only worms?
hearing the wind in this video literally made me put a jacket on while watching this.
+Macchi C.205 Veltro It was a chilly morning. :) Fall is definitely upon us (in the Northeast). Tight lines, Macchi!
+Extreme Philly Fishing ah yes, I'm am feeling the effects as I am about 40min to an hour southwest of philly.

hey Leo whats the address on this spot would love to fish this place and do you need a NJ fishing license or my PA 1 is good ?
I sincerely don't remember exactly where it is located at, AMD. I know that it is above route 40 something, right on the Salem River! And to fish it, you definitely need a NJ fishing license. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Ok thanks bro
YOOOOOO THIS IS 10 MINS FROM ME I FISH HERE ALL THE TIME AND NEVER CAUGHT A B.DRUM YOU SHOULD COME BACK AND FISH AGAIN !!!
What’s up Fellow Asian Angler.
I’m Asian as well, and I want to be a multi species angler too.
Call me “Asian Bassin”.
What does brackish waters mean?
+PlayerrTw0 Brackish water is a combination of freshwater and saltwater. Therefore, in brackish water, you can actually find certain saltwater and freshwater Species that are tolerant to low salinity levels (low salt content in the water).
yes do cooking your catch as well! Will be very entertaining and bring in a lot more views if you catch and cook in same vid
+xPtoch Hah. Trout season in PA is upon us! Once it comes, maybe I will do a couple videos on cooking and smoking. :) Thanks for the suggestion. Tight lines!
But I still love your channel
raw shrimp is good bait for black drum
+Yair Yair Yair Yair Thank for the recommendation, Yair! Tight lines and fish on!
i saw you i was in a red truck and i tried calling u but u didnt see
+Vadim Mosendz Heh. When was that? :)
the wight catfish is called a blue cat
+hostel tomato They are actually two separate Species of fish. The White Catfish portrayed in this video is of the Bullhead genus -- Ameiurus. It's often referred to as an "Ameiurus catus." The Blue Catfish is in the same genus as the Channel Catfish -- Ictalurus. It's often referred to as an "Ictalurus furcatus." To compare a White Catfish to a Blue Catfish, make sure to watch my video on the Potomac River: th-cam.com/video/Eb0wj30vWA4/w-d-xo.html Tight lines, Hostel!
"Not hammer time, it's plier time." Hahahah I was laughing so hard
i love in pennsville :)
live
thats a sheeps head not a black drum
That's a black drum, there's a difference
+Christopher Porter That is 100% a Black Drum (_Pogonias cromis_), Christopher. Black Drum just so happens to have vertical black bars when they are young. Salt water anglers around here like to call them _"Puppy Drum."_ Once they grow up, they lose those black bars. Also, Black Drum have little barbels under their mouths and lack big teeth -- both characteristics opposite to that of a Sheephead's (_Archosargus probatocephalus_). The shape of its body is also a little bit different than a Black Drum's. Tight lines and fish on!
You should use a tripod to your camera isn't too shaky
I don't know how you can reel left handed hahaha. I have to swap my crank on my open face reels.
He's reeling it normally. Are you left handed?
if you could get your hands on some sand worms, or sometimes called blood worms, you could kick some butt in salt water. great bait.
+bernier 14 Definitely agree with you, bernier 14! Blood worms are pretty expensive around my area right now, though. I think it's one dozen for $10 bucks! Yikes. But they are soooo good for fishing! Hah. Tight lines and FISH ON!
thanks man right back atcha, i love the vids man! keep up the good work
bernier 14 Awesome! Glad to hear that you enjoy them! Tight lines and FISH ON!
you should also learn to tie a Palomar knot to avoid the use of 3 way swivels!
If you take the under belly of the white perch and use it for bait the perch and catfish will eat it and it will last a long time
Thank you very much for your advice, Sammy! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
What do you use to edit?
+TheFishingTrio The program that I use is called Pinnacle. I currently own Pinnacle 18.
That fish you said was a black drum well that's actually a sheephead
+NJ Fishing i dont think thats a sheephead because sheephead has bigger upper head and has teeth like humans and has thicker upper fins
Yeah a sheepshead and black drum shouldn't be that hard to differentiate
That's a black drum
what you call white catfish down here in Georgia we call them Blue catfish or Blue Cats
Sorry I should really start studying my fish I'm just a country boy that fishes
+William Gonzalez No need to apologize, man. We all live and learn -- that's the fun part of life. :) Tight lines, William!
