Here is Episode #1 of my _"Fort Lauderdale Species Slam;"_ a.k.a. the *FLORIDA SPECIES SLAM!* Make sure you folks participate in the poll in the Cards -- make it interactive! :) In this video, I hit the Hillsboro Inlet and fished for some interesting Species swimming right *AT MY FEET!* Enjoy! P.s. KastKing Give-Away winner will be announced on the 22nd of this month! Stay tuned!
Jacks are very good cut bait for larger game fish including stingray, black drum, bull redfish, and various species of sharks! Where you are depending on the depth, you could maybe hit up a public pier in search of a smaller goliath grouper!!

Very Cool Congratulations Fisherman! Stay with God and good fishing.👍🎣🐠
I definitely think that last fish you caught is a sand drum. I looked up a picture of the striped croaker and the eye seemed to be much bigger in proportion to its body than the fish you caught. (the picture was in your photo database). Also after looking at the two the mystery fish just looked more like a sand drum
I think I'm going to start "collecting species" of fish as well! I've always been a multi species fishermen but ive never thought of "collecting" them by taking pictures and keeping a list! Thanks for the awesome take on multi species!
Nice haul, going to Florida in February. First time saltwater fishing there since I was a kid. Going to try catching all these species I see on your Florida vids
Leo I spent thanksgiving in Perdido and I was able to add the Pigfish (orthopristis chrysoptera), Common Pinfish (lagodon rhomboides), and the Grey Snapper(mangrove) (lutjanus griseus) as well as break my PB Bluegill at 12 and a half inches!
Leo, you've answered another curiosity today. The last time I fished my local creek, I somehow found a school of shiners with my spoon -- by somehow managing to foul hook one on ever cast, several casts in a row -- so I moved to a different spot. Any way, I am not a life lister, but it was a new species for me, and I was also curious if foul hooking would count to your list. Apparently not! and thank you for answering before I asked!
Another great video man! Makes me want to get out and fish right now but I have to go to work 😭 I definitely need to explore the state some more living in Florida so many places to Fish!! 🎣
Here in South Africa we also call it a spottail or a "Dassie" (Dassie is a Afrikaans word). Spottails are really fun to catch and are strong fighters for their size. Love the videos bud, keep up the good work. Tight lines my friend!
Extreme Philly Fishing Well I wouldn’t help you, I’d just tell you where the best spot to catch them are, since they are kind of rare to catch and also very hard
I appreciate the suggestion, brother. But I am back in Philly already. :) The whole trip (day-by-day) was followed via Instagram! And I announced it here on TH-cam.
Hey Leo (and fellow specieshunters)! What is the spottail pinfish debate? Got one myself when I was in Florida so would love to hear the thoughts about it.
It is pretty much Spottail Pinfish vs South American Silver Porgy. A.k.a. Diplodus holbrookii vs Diplodus argenteus. The range overlaps starting in Florida, and they look almost identical. Back in the days, some pointed out that the black dot at the caudal peduncle was a way of differentiating them; that the black dot on the D. argenteus was smaller. As it turns out, according to research papers on these two species, that is incorrect. Some others say that the definite proof lies in the row of molars in their mouths. But I have yet to find any research articles that even talk about the molars in D. argenteus. Though, in D. holbrookii, I know for a fact that there are three rows of molars.
Did you caught the big mouth sleeper? I have a good spot, if you want to give it a try, just say. And I caught a different specie to me, the mountain/freshwater mullet, Agonostomus monticola, in the same spot.
I will purchase heavier gear that is not KastKing, since KastKing doesn't have yet a series for heavier fish. And I will try my best to catch those species without a guide or additional help, as always.
Awesome I can’t wait to see that until then I will watch you catch everything else that you can. I am really happy you replied and I actually bought a kast king callimus rod and reel to use at my lake here from watching your videos
Extreme Philly Fishing understandable, as I am a multi-species angler well. Just thought it would be cool for you to catch some solid bullseye snakeheads before you left.
She is very understanding. She knows that most of the fishing and filming is for the job. On the other hand, she also knows that TH-cam hasn't been going well for me for the past few months or so. Income is low due to low view count. Therefore, sometimes we sit and talk about it. But thankfully, she never goes nuts on me when it comes to fishing. Lol. When I am around, I treat her well. I make up for the time I am gone. 😄

Was that a large porcupine puffer in the water at 17:04? Looked like it.
Leo I love your channel can’t stop watching ur vids
I love how Leo’s inner “kid fishermen” comes out when goes to tropical spots or places stacked with species 😂😂❤️
You are my favorite youtuber epf
Great video and you will catch 15 different species
The fish in that video the (needlefish) is called ( Balajú) in Spanish thanks for all your video. Leo Chen
Looking for a dark keel on the base of the caudal fin also helps identify houndfish vs needlefish (the houndfish has it, the needlefish doesn't)
21:34 That croaker looks very similar to the yellowfin croaker that I have in California.
Good observation, Eugene! They are similar species indeed. :)
I love these species slam videos :)
wild doggo doin a perfume in 7:08

"Mang-Grove Ez-napper" We need more Ez! *riot *
and the puffer does a double back twist with a full gainer bounce off the pier .... lmao...
Very cool video dude, good job catching them
If you are gonna come here to Delray or boca Raton, if you haven’t get a clownfish knife, I could help you getting one in lake ida
Yes. I need the Clown Knifefish. Though, I would of course try to catch it by myself, without additional help.
Extreme Philly Fishing Well I wouldn’t help you, I’d just tell you where the best spot to catch them are, since they are kind of rare to catch and also very hard
Great video leo
EPF YOU SHOULD COME TO COCOA BEACH!! PLEASE LIKE SO HE CAN SEE!!
I appreciate the suggestion, brother. But I am back in Philly already. :) The whole trip (day-by-day) was followed via Instagram! And I announced it here on TH-cam.
Ohhhh
You should do a video with deer meat for dinner while down in Florida!
Great video!
You should go for Atlantic spadefish. 😀
The only interesting species I caught while in Florida was the mangrove snapper and a small redfish. My snapper was about 2 or 3 times bigger though.
Love your videos. Keep it going!

What are you going to do when you get to things like sharks and Goliath grouper on your species list since your used to ultra-lite tackle?
I will purchase heavier gear that is not KastKing, since KastKing doesn't have yet a series for heavier fish. And I will try my best to catch those species without a guide or additional help, as always.

Instagram squad where you at?
Happy halloween leo
You should’ve hit me up to get on some snakeheads😩
This was a solo Species Slam trip. If I had others help me catch species, my worth as a Multi-Species angler for this trip would mean nothing.
Extreme Philly Fishing understandable, as I am a multi-species angler well. Just thought it would be cool for you to catch some solid bullseye snakeheads before you left.
the cowfish is so cool
If you want to see WILD looking small fish , check out the seaweed. .😀
More trout videos pleaseeeeee
the fish at 22:00 is a gulf kingfish, aka whiting
Aren't needle and houndfish the same thing?
No. They are two separate Species. The Atlantic Needlefish is the _Strongylura marina._ The Houndfish is the _Tylosurus crocodilus._
Dang bro seams hot in Florida

I pretty much go to Florida whenever I want. Species paradise. Good fishing for me is catching new Species.
Like the videos man. What does your wife do when you go out fishing all the time? Just curious.
She’s gotta tell you no sometime. Haha
She is very understanding. She knows that most of the fishing and filming is for the job. On the other hand, she also knows that TH-cam hasn't been going well for me for the past few months or so.
