Just found my way into your channel. Thank you, Marco, you opened up a whole new level of airbrush techniques for me. Keep up the good work and enjoy being a dad (for over a year, now?). You are a great person to so readily share your knowledge.
Tanti auguri Marco! La tua vita cambierà in meglio! Congratulations marco! Your life will become better than ever! Sto guardando i tuoi video per la prima volta e devo farti i miei migliori complimenti. Passami il termine, sei il miglior divulgatore riguardo all'argomento trovato dopo tanti anni. I'm watching your videos for the first time and I would like to commend you for your work. You are the best popularizer of this argument I found in many years.
I just tried white ink for the very first time and they are magical! Combined with the new back/forth technique I learned from you here, my airbrush game stepped up a ton already!
This video answered my questions about air and paint control via distance and the amount you pull back on the trigger. I'll be test driving mine this weekend. Thanks!
Thanks a million to you!!! I want you to really know how and why certain things work so you can fully adapt them to your workflow 😉 thanks again and Happy Holidays!!!
Congratulations on being a dad, man! So happy your year was so good! I really started miniature painting this year and have learned so much from your videos. You are always so humble (Which makes a beginner like me realize mistakes are a good thing), positive and funny. You deserve all the success in the world and here is hoping next year is just as good to you! Happy holidays to you and yours!
What great news! Congratulations Dad! I am consistently and greatly challenged and helped by your excellent content - and I very much appreciate the way you present it, both spot-on in the technical, and refreshing in your humor. Merry Christmas to you and your growing family!
😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks a million!!! Really really really from the heart!!! This is the awesome positive energy that keeps me super excited while making videos!!! Happy holidays to you too 😉😊😉
Congratulations on becoming a dad. I speak from experience here, being a dad will make you a better painter. Thank you for a great year and can't wait to see what you being next year!
😍😍😍 Thanks!!! Super super super appreciated!!! It was time to bring together all the information I put in the past videos and add that little thing that really helps to jump form beginner to intermediate airbrush user 😊
Your videos have been incredibly helpful in understanding airbrushing, color mixing, paints etc... It really helped me when you said to forget thinning paint to a "milky consistency". I'm new to painting scale models and so far your channel has been the best at explaining how to paint.
Such a hot tip on airbrush control....i have seen other pro's constantly pulling and releasing the paint as they air brush....i struggle with that and end up with pools and spiders and sometimes splatter if I dont keep the air flowing. I need to practice that technique of constantly pulling and releasing, back and forth with the finger. Thank you again!
@@KalNertea yep the first one 😊. Oh yeah everything is already shaping around him! Part of the reason of this Christmas pause is to produce a stash of backup videos to play safe the next year 😉
Wow congratulazioni DAD. Ottimi video e grazie ad essi ho iniziato l'uso dell'aerografo. Continua così e spero di vedere Archaon un giorno da te dipinto!
Excellent video. I applaud your teaching skills. Your channel is quickly becoming a comprehensive study guide for both new and intermediate painters, since you have vids both on theory and applications.
Thanks you sooooo much 😍!!! Yep the plan is slowly taking shape 😁😁😁 I just finished to put some order in the playlist and it's becoming something solid!
Brilliant video series man, so happy you got this one out before the end of year, thanks! :) I'm going to try increasing my pressure to the mid 30's as you suggested, I've always hovered around 20PSI and after watching this I think it might be the root of all my problems. Got a new Patreon supporter here!
Thanks a million 😍😊😍!!! For everything 😁😉😁!!! Yeah when the pressure is too low the characteristics of the paint become the major factor and it's easy to mess up with dilution and more difficult to compensate in the small dimensions of our canvases. With and higher pressure the control moves to the hand and the positioning that's easier to control and adapt to every need!
I love your videos (specially the ones on airbrushing) because you tell it like it is: no magic formula for dilution or settings, it depends on many things. Congratulations to you and your family! Welcome to the daddies club!
Thanks a million!!! For everything!!! 😍😍😍 Can't wait to be officially in the club!!! I know that with this system I'll lose some views and people in search of the magic solution but I really believe in teaching the right method to do things especially explaining how and why things work in a certain way; when you have this knowledge you can use, adapt, and perfection everything to your needs!!!
you sir are a great teacher! Right after watching this, I went and experimented with different distances/psi on some old half painted models, and just having the freedom to experiment on a model I didn't care about made me actually be able to practice and learn more in 30 minutes than in several sessions of working on models I was too scared to mess up.
Hi Marco. Just want to say "Thank You" for this video series. I've watched this series multiple times before jumping in and buying everything you recommended in this series (similar compressor, cleaning pots, mixing trays, thinners etc). The only deviation was that I got a cheap double action airbrush to learn with (Nasedal from AliExpress which I've found to be good (maybe I got lucky)). I'm already getting great results with blending and I'm loving the zenithal highlights with ink. Your trigger-finger technique is working out great. But what has been a great surprise is that I've already had about 10 to 15 paint sessions with the airbrush and your basic advise regarding cleaning between colours with airbrush cleaner and cleaning pot has meant that even as a beginner I've yet to have a single clogged airbrush and it's always ready to go when needed. Loving this tool and my only regret is not getting one sooner. Cheers.
Congrats on the family expansion front! Happy holidays & thanks for all the knowledge you've shared this past year, this vid being no exception of course!
Congrats on soon to be a Dad :) Super excited and happy for you and your family :) :) Much love to you all from China bro, hope you have a fabulous Christmas Hols!!!!
Thanks a million buddy 😍😁😍!!! I'm in the classic terrified/excited phase right now but I'm literally counting the days 😁 Happy holidays to you too and your family!!! I'm already at work for the new year 😉😉😉
Lol...I subscribed just because you actually said "LOL" :) I am thinking about buying an aerograph, I have been postponing the decision since 2005 and since I might go back to Italy for a couple of months it might be a good time dive back into painting after 12 years of pause. I tried to look for some info around but there are too many unsubstantiated claims all around the net but your videos are really good at creating a solid understanding of the basics. Many thanks! :)
LOL!!! I couldn't resist 😅 Awesome, welcome back to the hobby!!! Do you live abroad as well? Thanks a million 😊 Yeah sadly there's a lot of people out there with only a basic understanding of this tool teaching misleading or incorrect stuff... This generates a lot of confusion and myths that need to be busted 😁
Thx for the hard work. Your videos are great! I moved to London 3 years ago. Not as fancy as it sounds, too expensive but it's hard to move out. And I don't have any phisical space where to store painting equipment or models. At least here I got a job :) Now let's see what happens next :D
Thanks 😉😉😉 Yeah it's a very easy and effective way to control the flow but it's somehow counterintuitive because we are used to stay very still and presses against the table while working with the brush
Incredible explanation of the air brush trigger. I always knew the up and down was the air but I didn't know that the further back i pulled the wider the angle, I just thought more paint and increased chance for splatter.
Marco, I came across your channel kind of a month ago and I can't get out of it anymore. Loved the subjects you choose to discuss and the way you explain things (you probably could get rid of your accent so I would understand what you saying in a easier way LOL - just a joke from a non usual English speaker). Thank you for the lessons and content and keep on in this journey. Good luck on being a Dad too.

Congratulations and merry Christmas! Thanks for all your hard work on this great channel throughout the year, I have learnt a lot and tried new techniques because of you. :)
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I tried oil paint and pigment powder for the first time ever because of your Blanchitsu videos. I even won the best painted prize at a Blood Bowl tournament with the team I tried them out on! :D
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM also , when you mention about testing on plastic, it hit me like a truck, i alway test on a carton piece to check flow and dilution, no wonder, it complete go awry when apply to real plastic model . I found Ink and pure water base acrylic less user friendly than Lacquer and Acrylic Lacquer, Enamel , it quite challenge to get it right when you use to Lacquer paint (quite irony, since those 2 is the real friendly paint to user compare to more toxic Lacquer, Enamel paint). I definetly gonna to do some test with ink using "wiggle finger" technique that you demonstrate. Thank again Macro
@@hl1796 😁😁😁 You know that I'm a great supporter of cross media learning and we have to steal from traditional painters as much as possible, but yeah, in this particular case our "canvas" is so different that needs its own way and rules. Great respect my friend because I find lacquer and enamels very very very challenging!!! They behave in a very different way and I can totally understand your problems with the acrylic medium
Marco, do you have plans to add to the airbrush playlist with one on cleaning the airbrush? Thanks so much for the videos, you are simply the best on youtube
Your airbrush video tutorials are really awesome and answer so many beginner questions, thanks for this! I have 2 questions which seem to be handled differently by different painters. Is it necessary to wear a filter mask and and have a spray booth - especially when airbrushing for example in the basement?
Thanks a million to you! It all depends on how you use your airbrush and on your level of experience. Beginners tend to be heavy on the trigger and make a dusty mess all around, similar situation if you work on very large models or armies, priming and spraying dozens of medels each time in quick heavy passes; in these cases a respirator is mandatory and a spray booth can be a cool gadget to keep a tiny room without a good ventilation clean. Experience makes you more and more precise and if you work on single models or little units like I do there's basically no overspray/dust/stuff floating around! You can see in my videos that except for when I'm priming I don't produce any overspray on the table, even when I'm really close to it; all the paint sprayed is only on the model!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Ok, thank you very much for the explanation. Sounds like I should at least start with a respirator. Thanks a lot for your fast reply!
Super helpful info Marco. Thanks! Ink question: Inks tend to be gloss so if we add matte medium, how much is needed and does it need and equal amount of airbrush thinner to offset the thicker viscosity of matte medium?😊
Congrats, new dad! Thanks for your videos, they've really inspired me to start painting again. I was wondering if you could make a tutorial for painting 40k vehicles such as rhinos or imperial guard tanks. Really, what I want to see is how your style/approach/etc. applies to large flat panels and surfaces such as those of a vehicle.
😍 Thank you sooooo much!!! 😍 I love this flow of inspiration 😁😁😁 Oh yeah, I'm preparing a whole series about vehicles for the new year 😉 I have a ton of cool tricks to paint realistic tanks!!!
Hi Marco, what are your thoughts on needle size? Does using a 0.2 help you at all, or is 0.35 sufficient for everything? Thanks for your amazing videos.
I've just learned more in one video, Than i have watching hours of 🤬#🤬@🤬, Very well conveyed, easy to understand for me as a newbie, will be watching more of your video's Thank you.
Bit of a necro (watching all your videos from the beginning, LOVE your videos man!) but a question regarding needle size - in your very first airbrush video, all airbrushes that you own seemed to be on the 0,2 mm size. I only own a 0,5mm Iwata HP-CR and while its great for priming and bases, but after alot (!) of attempts I keep failing to reproduce your smooth blends with inks with any degree of accuracy. So my question is, do you think my problem is just lack of control and skill with my tool, or should I invest in a smaller nozzled machine for this kind of work? Thank you very much for all your work and the hours of informative entertainment, you really inspire me :)
Hey Marco! Thx for the video! I’ve bout an Infinity from Artis Opus for this Christmas and yesterday i’ve started to destroy my Miniatures hhahahahaa... No well! I’m going step by step but no bad for the first time! Thx again for this video!!! Gratz for the babyyyy!!
Congratulazioni Marco !!! All those awards and professional stuff will pale in comparison to the baby you'll have :) And thanks again a million for this awesome video! But I have just a question, when you do the left-right movement with the trigger at the end, do you also do up-and-down in between or you just keep the trigger pressed?
😍Grazie infinite!!! 😍 Yeah definitely the big news of the year is "the living miniature project" 😂 For a smooth spray without dots and splatters I keep the airflow steady and constant all the time; I left the original audio without the music in those shots so you can hear the constant sound of the airflow
Great video Marco ! Another thing is sometimes with old paint or some paint you have to use a filter(woman stockings for ex.), i used a mosquito piece sheet screen,to avoid dry paint littles splttles in the airbrush cup..Happy Christmas and please if you can show us your collection of resin kits too if returning to your home..!👍😊
Thanks 😍!!! Uuuu cool idea, even just to revive an old pot! Happy holidays!!! Hahaha sure 😉 and even better is time to begin a new collection 😉😉😉😉😉 spoiler 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
the weekend just got better 8) Wow! Congrats for becoming dad! Thats awesome!! :) 1:35 thank you so much for this info! This has brought so much smoothness into my painting!!! THANKS!!!!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM man I learned so much from you already and found out, that I m not doing much wrong, I was worrying too much and painting too little :p the paint dillution is the best example. I was trying around so much, to find the perfect dillution, until I saw one of your videos on that topic and it really just clicked. There is no perfect dillution, I make it, how I need it to be. It really took so much stress away from me, trying to find that "milky consistence" and I was painting more freely. And this trigger trick: I saw it recently on Miniac, too but he didn't really explain, why he did this, but when I saw it here, it immediately made sense, because you explained why, so I tried it out and voila: it works awesomely! I went from hating to have to learn how to airbrush, to just loving it. :)
@@Gulaschiltis 😍😍😍😍😍😍 You made my day with this comment 😍😍😍😍😍 Yeah these days every step and technique is standardised to fit quick tutorials and step by step and this create the false idea that you have to follow those exact steps/brushstrokes/procedures... Painting is more a flowing and organic experience that needs to be personal and shaped around yourself to be really enjoyable and effective... Lol this sounds more hippie than indended 😂
Ciao Marco, I'm totally necroposting here for a question about using acrylic inks in the airbrush. I'm having some speckling issues with white (undiluted) ink. FYI I use a 0.4 airbrush tip. Learning from your video series, I understood it is because either the pressure is too low and/or the ink is too thick for said use. My plan of action would be to: - increase pressure (at about 36-40psi, from the starting 20 I mistakenly used) - increase dilution if needed - training muscle memory to pull the trigger as less as possible. All of the above, to have a smoother zenithal highlight. Is there something else you would suggest to avoid speckling and have smoother ink spray?
This video has been unbelievably helpful. You're brilliant!!

😂😂😂 Thank you sooooo much man!!! I'm pretty excited 😁😁😁 Hahaha don't worry I'm already at work for January 😉😊
Congratulations and merry Christmas! Thanks for all your hard work on this great channel throughout the year, I have learnt a lot and tried new techniques because of you. :)
Thanks a million!!! Happy holidays to you too!!!
I'm sooooooo happy when you tell me that you tried new approaches because of the videos!!!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I tried oil paint and pigment powder for the first time ever because of your Blanchitsu videos. I even won the best painted prize at a Blood Bowl tournament with the team I tried them out on! :D
@@adamoakson3076 😍😍😍 Awesome!!!
Why are you such a good person?
😅😂😅😂😅😂 Best question ever!!! 😘😘😘😘
Grande Marco! Augurissimi!
😁😍😁 Grazie mille!!! Auguroni giganti anche a te!!!
thank for the early xmas gift Marco... this is god send to me
😍😍😍 I can't ask more than this for Christmas 😊
Congratulations Marco!
😍😁 Thanks a million buddy 😍😁!!!
congrats!! wishing you and all of yours a great holiday season and a wonderfull start in 2020.
Thanks a million man 😍!!! Happy holidays to you too 😊! See you in the new year!!!

Almost 30k now at the time of watching, you weren't wrong.
Amazing news! It’s best thing you’ll ever do.
😁😁😁 Thanks!!! 😂 A living miniature 😂
Marco, do you have plans to add to the airbrush playlist with one on cleaning the airbrush?
Thanks so much for the videos, you are simply the best on youtube
😁😁😁 You can predict the future because it's precisely the topic of next week's video 😱!!! For real!!!
Thanks a million 😊
Still a great learning experience after more than two years...
😊😘😊
Great video man. I might suggest practicing on empty sprues.
Super helpful info Marco. Thanks! Ink question: Inks tend to be gloss so if we add matte medium, how much is needed and does it need and equal amount of airbrush thinner to offset the thicker viscosity of matte medium?😊
Excellent!!
I love this flow of inspiration 😁😁😁 Oh yeah, I'm preparing a whole series about vehicles for the new year 😉 I have a ton of cool tricks to paint realistic tanks!!!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Good stuff, man! Enjoy the holidays. I look forward to seeing those videos.
I am going to try the patriot 105. It has set on my desk since I HAVE BEEN ILL
just become a dad of two myself. congrats, wish best for you and yours beloved! keep up a good work!
Double congratulations man 😍!!!
Thanks a million! Best wishes to you too!!!
Hi Marco, what are your thoughts on needle size? Does using a 0.2 help you at all, or is 0.35 sufficient for everything? Thanks for your amazing videos.
I've just learned more in one video, Than i have watching hours of 🤬#🤬@🤬, Very well conveyed, easy to understand for me as a newbie, will be watching more of your video's
Thank you.
@@dennismurphy3076Thanks a million man! it a pleasure 😊 and welcome on board 😁
All those awards and professional stuff will pale in comparison to the baby you'll have :)
And thanks again a million for this awesome video! But I have just a question, when you do the left-right movement with the trigger at the end, do you also do up-and-down in between or you just keep the trigger pressed?
😍Grazie infinite!!! 😍 Yeah definitely the big news of the year is "the living miniature project" 😂
For a smooth spray without dots and splatters I keep the airflow steady and constant all the time; I left the original audio without the music in those shots so you can hear the constant sound of the airflow
Great video Marco !
Another thing is sometimes with old paint or some paint you have to use a filter(woman stockings for ex.), i used a mosquito piece sheet screen,to avoid dry paint littles splttles
in the airbrush cup..Happy Christmas and please if you can show us your collection of resin kits too if returning to your home..!👍😊
THANKS!!!!
😁😁😁 Thanks a million to you 😍 I'm so happy to hear that the videos are improving your workflow 😊
Awesome video as always :)
Do you thin the white ink you use for your value sketch or is the consistency out of the pot acceptable? If so, what do you use as thinner?
Ciao Marco, I'm totally necroposting here for a question about using acrylic inks in the airbrush. I'm having some speckling issues with white (undiluted) ink. FYI I use a 0.4 airbrush tip.
Learning from your video series, I understood it is because either the pressure is too low and/or the ink is too thick for said use.
My plan of action would be to:
- increase pressure (at about 36-40psi, from the starting 20 I mistakenly used)
- increase dilution if needed
- training muscle memory to pull the trigger as less as possible.
All of the above, to have a smoother zenithal highlight. Is there something else you would suggest to avoid speckling and have smoother ink spray?
Ahhhh so that's why the higher pressure settings! LoL I should have gotten to this video sooner!
