I love ships, always have. Did 4.5 years in the Navy and currently work as a shipfitter building Navy ships. I spend alot of time grinding, burning with plasma, fabricating, and welding. I understand whats involved. Keep up the good work!
As the son of a merchant sailor the best thing about your project is the second life you are giving the old lady, insted of her ending up on some filthy beach in India being broken down, keep up the great work, cheers from Australia
I love your enthusiasm with this project. The fact that you are restoring this old lady and being thoughtful about it, tells me that you care a very great deal about her. I'm sure she is in capable hands. Can't wait till the day she sets sail again, wish I could be on her to see your excitement!
Chris , everyone has done an outstanding job!! The Ship is looking GREAT!! Goes to show you can put lipstick on a Show Pig! I wish all those with a not so kind comment on the crew would keep there opinon too themselves. These guys put there heart into this project.
It seems that the people who leave rude comments are generally uneducated on what we are trying to do. They might have their reasons but I can’t think of a single good reason not to give this ship hope.
What I love about this project? Well, about all’osteria everything! With all your dedicated work you are preserving heritage. Seeing you at work, brings me back to the days of black and white movies , ladies in evening dresses, man in tuxedo’s and evening sunsets…… As the (femele😊)owner of an historic tugboat here in The Netherlands I do know very well how much work and dedication it takes to keep it afloat. With or without a T-shirt: I am cheering you on all the way from the other side of the ocean!! Lots of greetings and blessings! Chantal
What I love about your channel ? .... your persistent use of your skills in saving that beautiful boat . The art form that of the way you perform those task . Devotion to her. Timelapse is kind of a must n some of these projects. I figure out that if I filmed the entire thing in real-time the video would be several hours long and much more boring.
I love that you are saving history! This is not a profit driven venture, you have fallen for the Aurora and have helped all of us to love her too! I live in Springfield Oregon, I am an Electrician, If it were up to me, I would hall my trailer down for vacation just to get the chance to help save the old girl, my family dose not share my love for history… Thanks for sharing your world with us! Hope to get there some day soon!

What I love most about this channel is the realistic presentation of a project like this. It isn't glamorous-you just have to grind it out (often with an angle grinder), and it takes time-although I'm sure the end result will be!
What I like most about this project is how you pay attention to all the details. I am looking forward to seeing plenty of videos regarding everything with electricity and electronics as that's what I spend my time with.
I love ocean liners and passenger ships, as well as working vessels. I love how you're not just keeping a piece of increasingly rare maritime history alive, but that you're doing nearly singlehandedly, without a lot of corporate interference. Just you and your friends and admirers. And you're taking us along, step-by-step, in detail. It must be incredilby peaceful to be on an ocean liner/criuise ship that is moored alongside a beautiful California farming landscape. I find your work and videos incredibly calming and inspiring. It's inspiring , It is all about priority's and focus not to think restoring a whole ship but to take it one job at a time. Nothing is impossible if you take it in one task at a time. it may take a while but it will get done sooner or later. Aurora.
Exactly how you eat an elephant. Me bite at a time. She will get finished if we keep up the pace and don’t allow opportunities to pass. Thanks for watching.
I like the way you as a group get along with one goal "Fix The Boat" If I were a young man again I would be a volunteer looking to sea duty as a final reward for all the hard work.
Looked like a Florida Rain storm we had three weeks ago.. You we're getting hammered out there. Great job your doing on the scuffers. They should definitely do the job in your next down pour. ⚓😎👍
I Love this Channel because you describe what and why you are doing what you do without being condescending, I am actually gaining knowledge with every episode, Thank You for sharing, all the very best for the Future, Dave, UK
The group will grow over the coming months but slowly. We will do our best to find the right people for this project. People that have the same passion for saving a part of history.
I have to say I admire your efforts to save this historic ship, being the first ship allowed to be built by Blohm+Voss post war. She comes from a great pedigree of famous (or some would say infamous) ships such as Wilhelm Gustloff and Bismark. Well done sir! I look forward to more episodes of this thrilling project.
What I like about this channel is the project you got into and how you are making progress on restoring this beautiful ship. Way cooler than any super yacht you could find, its a ship with a strong personality. Keep up the excellent work! 👌
The whole project is obviously huge. I like how you break each problem into smaller ones and don't think of the project as a whole as that would drive you crazy. I try and take that mind set into life. There is a lot to be leant from this.
I love seeing passionate people with no previous experience in what they are currently doing, doing a job well! The Aurora Project has many such people, doing things that they might never have even tried before, doing them with pride, passion and belief in the work they are doing.
What I love about this channel and the restoration is that a classic ship is being lovingly saved and I get to see my old friend, the Delta, once again. I can still remember driving from "The Pocket" to Rio Vista after work some days and going through all of the little towns along the way. I'm impressed with how much you've been able to "recycle" to keep costs down and preserving as much of Aurora's bones as you can. If I win a t-shirt, I will wear it whenever a new video comes out. Calm seas and clear skies...
Thanks for the kind words. The Aurora was actually in Rio Vista for a short time. Was a beautiful area and a great little city. I try my best not to dispose of usable parts and pieces from the ship. Makes more sense to use the original than to buy new cheap Chinese materials. Send us a PM with your address and we will send you a shirt. Include your size..
The thing I like the most about watching this project is I love old boats and would hate to hear the Aurora would be lost. Also it is very relaxing to watch and listen to Chris talk. Chris reminds me a little of Marty Stouffer on Wild America! Keep up the good work !
Marty Stouffer, Thanks. I never really thought of myself as being any good at narration but it seems to slowly be coming to me. Glad your enjoying the project. We will be digging into more crazy project in the coming weeks. You definitely will enjoy some of what’s coming :)
Best thing about this project is it brings back the essence of classic travel from days gone by, a different feeling about life and travel. The thrill of travel to new places, new friends, and new adventures.
I love watching every episode's progress in bringing her closer to her new maiden voyage. Please keep up all the great progress, looking forward to every new job you share with us. Thank you.
Like most, I enjoy watching you restore a piece of history. I do a lot of cruising and it would be fun to wear your shirt on-board. I think it would spark a lot of conversations. I find it amazing that someone sees something like this ship and says I can make a difference. I learn a lot watching your videos.
I love the most the vision to make the Aurora Alive again and all the amazing craftmanship of the crew Chapeau for all of you Regards ric Bases in south of france
In 1971 I was 12 years old and my first time on a ship. The Wappen Von Hamburg took my family on a day trip. At one point I was standing at the front of the deck above the bow and two guys came out below me carrying a big new looking coiled up rope and threw it off the bow into the sea. They also had a good bratwurst. I like the channel I did some welding in the Air Force. If I was close I’d be there to help.
So many awesome vessels have been lost due to age and a lack of money and care, most recently the retired Coast Guard ship the Alert and the 65 footer box boat that were privately owned as well as sea scout ships so I love your channel for saving this classic ship.
Thanks Bill for the kind words, some ships, it’s just their time. Neglect is a bad thing for boats and ships. But if man can build it then certainly man can restore it. Thanks for watching.
I love how refreshing it is to watch, always something new so it never gets boring unlike the multitude of sailing channels. They say life is an adventure, I get mine by watching you bring Aurora back to life, Who knows maybe one day I may get to see her in real life if you ever sail her to Australia.
Like seeing old rescues come back to life as it's show the love and sweat put into it,great drainage to keep standing water out the ship and decks My size is xxl for teashirt
What I love most is that this was once forgotten, trash, scrap but you, you! had the vision, friends, and community to make it more than its state of disarray. you! wanted the adventure to restore a ship with a life that
When I saw the blocked tube in the rain I immediately though what you need a wider tube that's somewhat rectangular in shape to keep its appearance neat, yet flow more efficiently. It's great to watch the restoration and efficient progress being made and as you said reusing the same steel from the ship for a purpose like this means to get to keep the originality as much as is feasibly possible. Any detailed restoration work is not easy, however there really is only one way to do it,,,,, the correct way, as you are doing.
It kind of worked out that I had that piece of steel on hand long enough to work maybe 3 scupper on each side. Glad to know we are like minded in project mode. Thanks for watching..
I love how this channel breaks down a complicated restoration into simple bits, I also love the diy ness yet still making it the best as possible. Also this ship is awesome and I want to see it sail again!
I love cruising and I once wrote to you to see if you knew anything more about the SS Oceanic and you responded to my question. I was so surprised and pleased that you took the time to do that. I just recently found two photos that were taken of me on that ship and had a good laugh, because all the photos I had were black and white ones and so faded out and these two were taken by the photographer on board and made it. I am loving watching this restoration and wish I could see it, but that won't happen because I am not so sure I will still be on this earth for that one. Not because of the progress you are making, but because of my age. I would love to see her sailing out to sea.
I remember your comment well. Glad your still with us on this channel. Would love to see the photos your mentioning. It’s people like yourself that inspire me to continue with this project. I will do my best to get a video out each and every Sunday. If there is anything aboard that you would like to see or have us spend some time working on then just say it and we will make you a video.
What I love about this channel is not only the tenacity to take on a project of this size, but also the preservation of a beautiful, and historic, vessel.
Hi I just think it’s fantastic that you are restoring a ship that has a lot of history otherwise it just go to the scrapyard or sit there and rest away I Really love and appreciate you guys for what you are doing love your videos Cliff from Logan city Queensland Australia from the big island❤❤❤❤
Been watching since the 1st episode dropped. I watch a lot of boating reno channels, but the ones I stick with are those that are detailed, well narrated and have a clear mission. Aurora Restoration checks all the boxes…and then some. Continued good luck with the project.
Thanks for the kind words. Glad to have you aboard on this channel. We’re gonna get a little more frequent in releasing new videos. My editing skills are getting a little more streamline so more content will get out now for sure.
I love this channel because you are taking a seemingly done for ship and reworking it piece by piece. I enjoy the welding, cutting, fabricating and restoration work.
What I love is seeing how much satisfaction they get after completing a section of the ship. You can see it on their faces, that look saying, wow, ok that looks good, now let’s move on to the next section. I would also like to see how you set up your personal living quarters, which part of the ship you actually live on. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming Tony from Miami, Fl
I really enjoy the way that you guys cut up together and still take the time to explain what y'all are doing step by step. .. Y'all make us feel like we are being included in your amazing journey.... I can't wait for the next episode.....
I love watching the this beautiful lady come back to life! I and my family have always taken cruises as our family vacations. We actually went on the second princess ship that was the love boat. Anyways my son and I enjoy watching you all busting your butts to save the Aurora. Thank you for sharing this on TH-cam. Plus if you ever start working on the engines I would recommend the TH-camr HeavyDSparks. He has worked with other TH-camrs and works with large diesel engines. Maybe not as massive as the ships engines but I thought it might be worth suggesting. Thank you and good luck!
Interesting message in two topics. The Island Princess is the vessel I believe you are referring to and was the most used vessel in the filming of the Love Boat. Keep watching as the Aurora has a ton of furniture and artwork from that vessel that we are slowly restoring to showcase aboard the Aurora. Heavy D has a great channel. I watch some of his content every now and again. That would certainly be an interesting match.
I like to see old stuff, that most people would likely throw away, being restored and this project is that on the next level. This project is a piece of history. I love to see your creative ways of repairing and restoring. Keep up the great work. It's looking awesome.
I love seeing a normal person, not a big corporation, restoring a significant piece of history. It's a great "Behind the scenes" story of what is possible now thanks to the internet, and will hopefully inspire others to restore something from our past. We have nothing if we do not have our history.
What I love most about this project and the channel hosting it is learning the history of the boat and exploring the little corners. My favorite moment so far was the discovery of a diary in the bunk rooms.
The thing I like about this is that most people would turn a blind eye to the boat but you can see there is still lots of life left in it and it just needs some love
I love watching this channel for the preservation of an important part of our history, so need to see so many volunteers also taking an interest and see the boat develop a new life, I found you thorough Gemma at Ship Happens 6 months ago and watched your videos ever since. Andy
What a truly amazing project and one of a kind! Thank you for the opportunity to see the progress! Keep up the good work and keep the great videos coming!
I can honestly say, I like the way your bringing back a piece of history .. Most would walk away from a project of this magnitude, but you and the crew are sticking to it like clue !! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the welding, fabricating, and plasma cutting are most enjoyable ! Keep Doing What Your Doing .. Because What You Are Doing Is Nothing Short Of Amazing !!
I love watching dirty, rotting old stuff being made clean and functional again. Especially since it's happening on a ship that is truly one of a kind. Thanks for bringing a piece of history back to life!!
Been boating for 50 years, and loves your videos. Hard work bringing it back to life.
I love ships, always have. Did 4.5 years in the Navy and currently work as a shipfitter building Navy ships. I spend alot of time grinding, burning with plasma, fabricating, and welding. I understand whats involved. Keep up the good work!

I love the creative recycling of history
Thanks, exactly why I jumped in. She’s a perfect candidate.

I love classic cars and motorcycles so classic ships are even more cool!
I have had my share of classic cars and have to say that I enjoyed working on them as well but the ship is certainly a different level.

I love the fact that you are restoring a piece of history
Thank you, That’s also my thought.
What do I love the most? I’m a real sucker for therapeutic time lapse tool videos. I always have been. I just gobble these up!!😊

My Daughters name is Aurora and you show us how anything is possible. Just have to be willing and get after it.
Your Daughter has a great name. The name has been the luckiest name to date for this ship so may it be the same for your daughter.
Like how a group people have come together and work their ASS off on a ship doomed for the scrapyard to preserve what it stood for in its Day.
Thank for the kind words and seeing this project for what we have accomplished. She definitely has a future now.

What I love most about this channel is the realistic presentation of a project like this. It isn't glamorous-you just have to grind it out (often with an angle grinder), and it takes time-although I'm sure the end result will be!
I love the history of it all. An old thing coming back to life.
There is actually a great story behind all of this that I plan on sharing sooner or later.

why this channel is great..........you are saving history

What is most amazing is that no steel was dropped over the side! I cringed when Chris was holding that heavy plate on the edge!
Well thank you so much for the kind words. I feel the same way..
As a hobbyist fabricator I love the fabrication videos. Wish she was closer to me as I’d love to come help bring her back to life.
Definitely the more people with the ability to fabricate the better. Thanks for watching..
I love this channel because you are taking a seemingly done for ship and reworking it piece by piece. I enjoy the welding, cutting, fabricating and restoration work.
Wouldn’t trade the experience for anything in the world. It’s been an honor to work aboard this ship.
I love that you are re using so much of the old materials
The old materials are by far the best to use if they can be saved.
The old materials are by far the best to use if they can be saved.
I love the fact that what your restoring has class. Things built today lacks class and detail. Saving the past is bringing history to life.
Couldn’t agree more…
What I love is seeing how much satisfaction they get after completing a section of the ship. You can see it on their faces, that look saying, wow, ok that looks good, now let’s move on to the next section.
I would also like to see how you set up your personal living quarters, which part of the ship you actually live on.
Thanks for the videos, keep them coming

Like the dedication to bringing the old girl back to life.
Thank you, It’s really been a pleasure and an adventure.
From the Stem to the Stern, Its all exciting!!!
I love watching the progress, from abandoned and rotting to bright, shiny and functional. Can't wait to see her completed!
You and me both!
I like it when you host and narrate. Great job!
I like to see old stuff, that most people would likely throw away, being restored and this project is that on the next level. This project is a piece of history. I love to see your creative ways of repairing and restoring. Keep up the great work. It's looking awesome.
I like the channel because of the shear size of this undertaking and that you are not discouraged every my hat is off to you
I love how big this ship is! It’s wild! Like no other on any form of media!
The people are what make this channel entertainment to watch and follow
Before this channel I never thought of myself as an entertainer. Just a guy working on his ship. Glad I started this channel.
Your dedication, love and passion for this old Lady.
We still need to revisit the diary. Lots of interesting content in that little book and I have yet to read all the way through it. Stay tuned..
I love the crew and watching this old ship coming back to life! All The hard work to save it.
Well said!
Thanks for the kind words. Sounds like we are much alike in the bringing old stuff back to life..
I love seeing how you fix the problems. Also knowing what problems there are on a ship that size. Wish I lived close enough, I’d come help.
