  • This is little video where I take you along while I'm out shooting in a late Fall windstorm. On this day I was trying to do some longer range work with my Daniel Defense DD5v2 that I have setup up as a CSASS. I had already worked 500 yards over and went to jump to 1000 yards using Federal Gold Medal Match 175 grain foctory rounds.
    After one shot that was off, I went five for five in crazy winds.
    I receive no compensation from any of the manufacturers of the gear I use.
    Equipment
    Rifle: Daniel Defense DD5v2, Geissele SSA-E Trigger, Magpul PRS Gen 3 Stock, and Accushot Atlas PSR-17 bipod.
    Optic: Leupold Mark 6, 3-18x44 with Horus Tremor 3 reticle (Illuminated). Mounted via a Spuhr ISMS.
    Ammunition: Federal Gold Medal Match 175 grain rounds in .308 WIN

      Right on! Thanks for the kudos...I'm definitely planning on making more very soon - stay tuned! In the meantime, most all of my Bullet Time .308 videos have me chrono'ing loads out of this as my Semi rig. It's a true workhorse for me and dead accurate (like your's) too. Wait till you see the headshot footage at 700 yards from the same day I shot this. :)

      I'm having a tough time deciding between the V1 or V2, any help? sounds like your V1 is doing great, but should I go for the extra 2" with the V2? thanks. appreciate it.

    That's pretty good gong noise for 1000!

      It's not that pronounced in real life, at least I don't think so. I run a pretty high fidelity active shotgun type mic, with a windscreen. It does a pretty good job picking it up. If you check out a vid I have in the Sig MCX playlist where I take it to 700 yards, you can hear it on a less-windy day with 5.56...pretty loud there too.

    Cool setup. I am looking to pick one of these up but I had a question. Can you shoot reloads out of it? I bought a LaRue PredatAR 7.62 and after a happy sub moa day at the range with some Federal GM 175s I went home to reload the cases. The next weekend I returned to the range and found I could not chamber them. When I called the tech dept. they told me the rifle WILL NOT TAKE RELOADS. Thanks for making that known LaRue! Sold the rifle that week and am looking to replace with this DD. Anyone help me out with this?

    Question... how did you get that PRS Gen 3 installed? I can't get the QD screw back in because the buffer tube lower ridge is slightly in the way in the hole with everything perfectly installed. I have the DD5 V5, are the buffer tubes different maybe?

    • @db5030
      @db5030 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the exact same issue. I sent it in to DD for warranty and they should be sending it back shortly with the rework. Very helpful customer service over there.

      @SDA-Sound 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@db5030 interesting! they told me I was out of luck. that the buffer tubes were made specific and they don't offer them anymore. this was about a month ago I was told this. glad it worked out for ya! I just trimmed the metal bracket in the qd mount. sling won't function in there but the screw and piece are now in place. magpul sent me a replacement set for free so I could try to mod mine. great customer service at magpul as well ;)

    Thank you very much. Can you please help me decide between the DD5V1 or the DD5V2 you have here. I'll be using it with my SUREFIRE SOCOM can so was curious how important the extra two inches and rifle length gas tube were. than k you very much for your help.

      Hey thanks for the comment/question. IMO (and it's just that),it really comes down to the little extra reach that the v2 gives you, as it was designed to be more of a DMR rig over the v1 Are you looking at it for hog hunting?

  • @elitetrader5468

    How many rounds do you have through your V2? Any issues with malfunctions?

    • @TheGreyState
      @TheGreyState  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd estimate the round count around 3000 rounds over the last 18 months, literally not a single malfunction. I'm glad you asked this question because I've been putting off completing a big review on it. I started on it a year ago, shelved it, and while I was finishing up the video on the Honady Critical Defense Rifle in 308 - I thought "Man, nobody has put anything out on this rifle yet in depth...GiddyUp".
      So, I started amassing more footage last week focusing on inexpensive and SHTF rounds, including steel case (as that seemed to be a gripe on a well known v1 vid),and it still swallowed, chewed, and spat them all out - even while all hot under rapid fire while dirty. I really put in a solid effort to disadvantage it, and create a failure.
      I hope to have the "big review video" out in the next week or so...so much footage.
