    Omg thank you so much for the recipe🤗. I live in Phoenix Arizona, and I always used to get taro boba from a Vietnamese restaurant across my work, it was so good. I was going every week to get my weekly crave, because bobas expensive😅.
    Than a hawaiian restaurant recently opened near my home and the taro boba there is made from scratch. It's sweet but not to sweet, just right. The color is a very light purple. The texture is different, like soft but maybe starchy? It's a bit thick but not bad. Idk but it's so good. Just today I was craving boba at my work from the place I always went to. Tasting it again, I have to say, that boba is too surgery and artificial tasting to the point my stomach gets upset. I'm sticking with natural. Hopefully now with your recipe. I can make my own. Thanks😊.

      Hi Yenny! So glad you found us and our video ☺ You're right, the texture is very different when starting with actual taro, versus using taro powders. But we know it's not easy to find fresh/whole taro everywhere. Please do give our recipe a try, then you'll be able to tweak the recipe until you can make the perfect taro milk tea that won't be too sweet or upset your stomach. Let us know how it goes!

      If you like taro milk tea then you def gotta try fresh taro milk tea -- it's got more flavor and this fun texture. Depending on where you live, it may be hard to find fresh taro - sometimes you can find it frozen if not in the fresh produce. Good luck and let us know what you think!

    Can we use condensed milk instead of milk powder?

    • @AdventuresofCarlienne
      @AdventuresofCarlienne  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Condensed milk will be much sweeter and a slightly different texture compared to milk powder. It might also overpower the flavor of the taro, but try it and see if it's something you enjoy!

    Is there vanilla added? I just started drink taro boba and it taste like it has vanilla in it

      Hi Nannette, thanks for your question! Our recipe does not call for vanilla, but you could certainly add some if that's your preference. Lots of taro drinks and desserts do use vanilla or coconut milk to add more flavor, since taro itself doesn't have a strong flavor. Because of that, you should use them sparingly, otherwise you won't be able to taste the taro at all!

    Thank you so much for the video man. I started searching for fresh recipes because like you, I hate seeing so many preservatives and junk in the powders (even if they taste amazing to me) and I wanted to make my own healthier version.
    Thank you as well for using weight measurements for replicable accuracy.
    You got a sub from me! Stay safe and take care.

      Hey Andrew! Thanks so much for the sub and support! We're glad to help fellow food lovers who appreciate more wholesome foods and are willing to put in the extra effort. Not everyone has access to fresh taro, but if you do, it's totally worth it. Are there any other drinks/dishes you're interested in learning?

    Does this come out grainy or thick? You're basically blending potatoes together with milk... Or does Taro have that much of a different texture than sweet potatoes?
    Regardless, thank you for the video! I want to learn how to create my own Taro milk tea, so I can stop spending $8 at my local Boba shop 😂

    • @AdventuresofCarlienne
      @AdventuresofCarlienne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi DC Merritt! Totally feel ya on that $8 boba! The texture will depend on how long you blend it. Taro is similar to potatoes - they're all roots/tubers, but just as each potato variety has a different texture, taro is less grainy than you might think - something between a russet and a golden potato, not quite as gummy is sweet potato. So there is a bit of grain, but it's not sandy. Also for texture, we like to add some chunks of taro after the blending, but that's completely up to you!

    Hawaiian taro is more purple.

      Thanks for your comment Gianna! If you're lucky enough to get taro from Hawaii, then you'll have an amazing taro milk tea. The rest of us will have to make do with what we have. 😄

      Hi hockeylover! Yes we are in California so we can find it in most asian grocery stores. If you can't get fresh, you can use frozen.

    Is purple potatoes the same think as purple kumara?

    • @AdventuresofCarlienne
      @AdventuresofCarlienne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tori! Great question. Never heard the word kumara until now, but Google says kumara is a sweet potato, fun to learn something new! While all of the varieties of purple potato, purple yam (ube), and taro are all different - the differences are pretty subtle and it's probably mostly noticed texturally. It's a personal preference (and more an availability issue) for which you should use. You can definitely try purple kumara. Let us know how it goes!!
