After watching your break 75 with Charlie Hull I was glued to my first ever women's golf tournament and was blown away by the skill and professionalism. So impressive! Thank you for inspiring me to watch. On another note: most golfers do not get the opportunity to try out lots of different brands of clubs on the course and rely on purchases based on someone like you giving a decent review and then sticking with them. If they're not the best looking on the course in two years time, so what.
Excellent podcast as always. Keep them coming.
Sadly that’s one of the problems these days, demo club is a 7 iron or similar. Problem is sheer cost can you imagine making say three irons available for 80% of the sets you see in a decently stocked shop. Even if they have a driving range struggle to get to use more than one iron
Titleist, overall quality of everything is amazing. Footjoy, scotty cameron, vokey, stadry bags, amazing irons, woods are incredible in particular the tsr 3.
Titleist is the most over hyped brand ever. Their irons aren’t even close to Srixon, Mizuno, or Miura and feel like a frying pan. Their woods are nothing close to taylorMade or Callaway woods. Their wedges are alright, I wish they felt softer like Cleveland’s. The putter is trash. Worst performing putters on putting simulators. And saying “oh well everyone on tour uses them” comparing a $400 putter to a circle T is like comparing a stock Ford Fiesta to the car Ken Block used to jump over buses with. The only thing they do great is a golf ball
@@jazzyjay4595 i have a 52 degree SM4 and it goes alright sometimes :)
@jazzyjay4595 the new t series irons are seriously great, and the putters are fantastic. They're just not for everybody, don't be a hater
@@aidangriffiths5075 I work with this equipment everyday. That’s like telling a mechanic that he’s wrong by calling range rover’s garbage. I got to test the t series months ago and everyone at this fitting day all complained about the same stuff with the irons. They feel like a trash can lid and don’t go anywhere.
The putters are so inconsistent in build quality it’s insane. Swing weights are always off. Lie angle off. Lofts all over the place. Lengths inconsistent. That may not matter to your 12+ handicaps but that’s a big deal in my space of the golf world. Stop listening to these social media influencers that shoot 85 from 6500 yards and can’t tell you black from white on the real ins and outs golf tech and fitting
@@jazzyjay4595okay so I’m a 15 handicap and want to get fitted for my first full bag. What brands do you recommend I look into since at the moment I’m caught up in the t-200 craze
Went to the ladies open on the Friday and what was most impressive was their long clubs into greens so accurate its unreal, as the men's golf is all drivers and wedges the ladies game is arguably more impressive how they get it round so low.
Has often been said pro ladies play like the majority of male amateurs regarding length. Although some women becoming big hitters now. As a result of their their shot length they are very good to study their course management. As most male pro’s hit shirt clubs into green it’s a totally different ball game for them
Really enjoy listening to and watching your videos. Just getting back into Golf, Last Sunday at Ferndown Golf Club in Dorset, Watched the Semi finals and final of the English Amateur Championship. Standard was unreal.
@rickshiels since im the only one here atm, just wanted to give you a shout that i think your stuff is amazing. Been watching you since i starter golfing in 2019 and have been a supported since. Thanks for all the great content 👍🏻
I've re-watched that Dan Grieve video at least 5 more times. So much information to absorb. To me, it still remains one of Rick's best TH-cam videos ever. I did buy the book too. My struggle is trying not to mix Dan's releases together. For example, I'll try to do release 1, then end up putting in some release 3 steps etc.
Agree. I’ve watched that 3 times since… sometimes I’m good sometimes I’m terrible. Not the instructors fault for sure. 😊
I’ve seen the session Dan did with Gaz’s golf. Saved to study again hunting out ricks video as god knows he needed it
Keep up the great work on all your media platforms 👏👏
always happy to see the pod in my feed
I went to the women’s US open at pebble beach and it was fun to watch the ladies play the course similarly to how I would play it. More guys should see how and what clubs the ladies play in my opinion.
Have to say I didn't write the email in, but similar thing happened to me and I just started mixing it up at the club and started playing with other members and now have a large choice of friends I can play with. Did mention to friend and he took it on board but now I play with him sometimes and now play with others too. Do it !
Even the dribble is so entertaining. Keep it up please.
For the guy whose friends are ruining his time on the course, I'd say def play rounds on your own! I prefer golf that way though most people wouldn't like it. I'm not out there for the drinking and shenanigans and cranking music from my wireless speaker, etc. I'm in a league, so I'm around that often enough but I prefer to focus on golf when I'm golfing. For rounds on my own, I play one ball against the other so I end up getting twice the practice and it's truly quality time. But, yeah, friends and uncomfortable groups can suck the life right out of the blessed/cursed game.
Yeah, the game is meant to be enjoyable and if being asked to play with people that impact that I would stop. Luckily most guys I’ve met playing golf have been good, and one lad who I played with just starting his golf journey I gave him tips on etiquette and where we exited greens for next tee shot etc. beginners typically play a bit slower as takes them a bit longer to set up as it’s not so natural for them. But soon sped up a touch b
58k running done! Loving it! Keep it up guys!
Having a great day, thanks for asking Rick!
another great show lads!
I like these totally random episodes. Good job boys.
I live near Pastures, yet to play it, can’t wait for the video
Have the courage to talk with your friend about your concerns. If they aren't bothered by it thats ok. Try signing up for a few smaller Net tournaments and meet some people. It's ok if people don't take the sport as serious as most of us. Sad that they aren't learning the proper edict and course management but unless you're comfortable addressing that move on. Look up STATE skills from Crucial Conversations. Could give you a format to try that will help with this and dozens of harder conversations. In the end you'll feel better and strengthen relationships with the people you love in your circle. Keep swinging!
Would love to see a 2v2 on the channel.. teams being: Rick and Ryan Ruffles vs Guy and James Robinson! Match or stroke play would be amazing!
One way to possibly address the email is to have your friend bring 2 others instead of just 1. Then those two can hang and you and your friend can still be in a cart together. It can work if you’re in a golf cart anyway. A little less effective if you’re all walking
Played MS a couple weeks ago! My first experience of 'pro rough' and it wouldn't have even been grown out properly yet. Really enjoyed it. Greens aren't as quick as you think but they're HARD and true. Had one birdie on the 4th hole 🙃
The blind tee shots are the real trouble. You could just miss but struggle to find it cos the rough is so thick
Hate blind tee shots, as a high handicapper puts even more pressure on. Sometimes even a well struck ball will roll out into rough and then no idea where it is
Hi guys. I’m based in NZ and throughly enjoy the channels. I have been watch Rick for a few years now and I am having a similar “bad patch” with my golf. I watched the HIT channel and the T200 /T350 seem to be ideal to help fix my golf. Would you, Rick, ever change your clubs to a more forgiving set to get you back on track? Should I do that?
Love watching the women’s golf
Far more relatable to watch in terms of how far they hit it and how they attack the course.
All good. Missed Guy on the break 75 though. 😢
Rick last week: "I am going to re-dedicate time and practice to my game." Rick this week "Haven't hit a ball all week." Called it.
I expected nothing less.
LIV was great. Cam Smith was a pleasure to watch. Some good golf being played in that league so make sure you check it out Rick ;-)
Ofcourse he watches it, he just pretends he doesn't.
Does the club have to look nice because it gives you the feeling of still being a pro golfer? Like I have to use an iron that looks like this because I'm supposed to be good enough to use irons that look like this. Do you think maybe a game improvement iron might help since you're struggling at the moment?
Level par for the round is very different from parring the hole. Making epic eagles, hole and ones and many double bogeys would keep it interesting. Personally torn between the two options but leaning towards shooting par every time.
You can shoot par all the time and make those birdies and bogies
I’m actually going to Rome next week. I didn’t think about it but should bring my sticks ..
Any recs on possible courses
Lets have a Ryan Ruffels vs James Robinson match!!!
Agree with Guy, would much prefer to watch the ladies golf for the consistency and skill level having to hit clubs throughout the bag, instead of the golf like most men’s comps where they hit the 300+ driver and then only ever use a wedge or nine iron in to the green.
I agree with Guy that Odyssey would be the number 1 putter brand on tour. It is currently despite Titleist being the leader in drivers, irons and wedges (close 2nd for putters)
Big fan of the drivel episode, was a good laugh!
I think Wilson and Srixon are criminally underated.
But the best golf brand is clearly whatever Nate Edwardson Golf is currently putting his mouth on
Agree about Wilson and Srixon, both make some seriously good clubs that are also very attractive in the bag. Tend to be a bit cheaper as well
Guy, I’m exactly the same with films. My mates are astonished with the amount of films and actors I don’t know🤣
Rick, check out the Edwin Watts in Orlando next time you're in town. The one near Bay Hill, more used clubs than I've ever seen.
Just FYI boys, this video was really dark. I had to turn my phone brightness to full to make it look normal. Just a heads up 👍
I’m Ryan Ruffles UPS man in Orlando. Great guy!
If it is better to look good than to play good, then you look marvelous Rick.
Titleist for almost everything, only grey area is driver but even that is close to or the top with the new version.
The irons, wedges, and putter are simply the best around, then there's the ball, and on top of that I think the release schedule is also the best, love that it's not every year, actually makes you want them more, and because of the way they do it, it is actually a tough choice between the new ones and getting a deal on the prior version.
Ya it's just simply Titleist...
Irons would probably be Mizuno by a lot. Every now and then pros get polled on what they would use if not for sponsorships. Mizuno wins every time by a lot
@ben1ben2ben1 I believe if you look up what brand is used most by pros that are not under contract, titleist is number one in almost all categories... not 100% on this but pretty sure I remember reading that.
Worldwide Golf Shops is the umbrella for all of America regionally.
Edwin Watts - Midwest/ South
Roger Dunn and Golf Mart - West Coast
Golfer's Warehouse - East Coast
So y'all had nothing better to put out this week then? Ha! Enjoyed it a lot.
Ping
Driver / Woods - Leading modern driver technology
Irons - Ping Eye 2 best irons ever and changed the game.
Wedges - Ping Eye 2 had to be outlawed a second time in 2010 because of how good the wedges are.
Putter - Ping Anser and many more. Never been a more replicated driver. Tiger still uses the Ping putter grip.
Dear Rick and Guy, love the show and never miss a thing....
One little comment this week, please check your pronunciation for Marco SimonE... its Not Simon, its Not Simeone (like the footballer) its SimonE....
LOVE my Srixon irons (ZX5 MKII)...
Titleist is the bar that every other company tries to be when making golf balls, equipment has gotten so close I don't even think there's a leader for more than a year
Gurantee you have no titleist clubs except wedges
@@Joe-vb4pgI’ve vokeys. Also have titleist 917 5 wood and TsI2 driver.
@Joe-vb4pg you're wrong, I have 0, and rarely use their balls. Might have a glove
Srixon comfortably for me. Great woods for all levels. Great irons for all levels. Great balls for all levels and I think the best wedges. Bags probably not the best but if you take into account the price level from all points above they are easily the best
How is Glover not making an anchor with his left arm?!
Guy I'm exactly the same. I'm not a vegetarian but if it is something other than chicken or beef I'm not eating it. Oh so happy to know there is someone else out there as weird as me LOL for that reason I should get a ticket to the live podcast haha flying from Toronto CAN :)
Legend of bagger vance is the best golf movie... ill fight anyone lol
DP Worl Tour in Northern Ireland, not Ireland. Big difference 😂 I'll be there, might see if I can pay Ryan for an answer
Id rather shoot a decent score than look at a pretty club, Can't understand why you not tried the Ping i230 cracking club ok not forged but it looks decent and performs with micro grooves amount of fliers ive had are far less
I believe if you look up what brand is used most by pros that are not under contract, titleist is number one in almost all categories... think that's a big one...
Ball- Titleist
Driver - Titleist
Irons - Mizuno
Wedges - Titleist
Putter - Odyssey
If I were just building out a bag attached to no single company I'd go Callaway driver & woods, Ping irons, Cleveland wedges, a Scotty, and a TP5 ball.
As a sponsored tour pro I'd want to be Titleist, Taylormade, Ping, Callaway, then everyone else.
P770 is that sweet spot! The 790’s look like hockey sticks behind the ball. P770’s actually look really good.
In my opinion:
Ball: Vice
Shafts: True Temper/Project X
Grips: Winn or Golf Pride
Driver: Taylormade
Woods: Cobra
Irons: Mizuno or Miura
Wedges: Titleist
Putter: Titleist
Overall Golf Brand: Titleist
Overall Sports Brand: Mizuno
Titleist no doubt
I love the aimless episodes hahah

Rick, you’ve said since the start that you don’t want to discuss money. But you discuss it in almost every podcast!
Because now he has loads of it. He loves money
Hey Rick I’ve been playing golf for close to a 11 months now and just broke 80 for the first time (78) on a par 70 my goal is to get to a single figure handicap in 12 months, I haven’t had lessons I watch your videos and teach myself and learnt so much. But just wondering if u have any tips on staying consistent in putting and driver. Cheers Jack from New Zealand

“Don’t worry about me hitting balls” 😂
Srixon has to be up there. Their total body of work is impressive
story at 36.00, they don't sound like your friends dude...
46:12 114k and counting!!! Injury will slow me down but great challenge
I think majority would be Ball: Pro v1 Putter: Odyssey Wedges: Vokey Irons: Mizuno Woods & Driver: close between ping and Taylor Made
I guess Rick would rather his clubs look nice and his shots look like Shite, instead of having lesser looking irons (who he would only see or care about anyways) and have great looking shots (which would get more “that looks great, great shot” .)
What do you do with the clubs you review?
So many great brands and designs. After 40 years of mediocre golf, working in golf, working in club shops, courses, selling, making, using, etc: If I had to pick one brand: Ping (There in my backyard almost literally, irons, driver, putter excellence, and they will be around till ww3 ends us (and won't be bought by investment companies in the meantime a la: Quicksilver/Dunlop/Cleveland/Srixon/SRI/Sumitomo), One new ish brand: PXG. ..... And as a bag: Driver: PXG. Fairway woods: Tour Edge. Hybrids: Taylormade. Irons: Ping. Wedges: Vokeys (Forged). Putter: Ping If I had to pick one shaft brand: True Temper (TT/Rifle/HZRD) If I could mix shafts: Nippon/True Temper Ball: Prov1x.
srixon 100% - it's almost cliche how little they are talked about
Question for next week. If 5 PGA Tour players jump to LIV next season, who would you think is going and why?
No one is jumping to LIV. The Saudis started LIV to force their way into a merge with the PGA. They got that now. They have no need for LIV anymore and if it does stick around they won't be offering crazy big contracts to PGA players anymore
Cam dominated this weekend
So it's better to play bad golf as long as the irons look sexy!😂😂😂
Slazenger, v300 cheap as chips and a great ball
Any golf movie list that doesn’t include Caddyshack goes straight into the lumber yard!
There can't be too much golf on. Not possible. One does not have to watch it, but never too much.
Oye, you see that ludicrous display last night? The thing about Arsenal, they always try to walk it in.
Where can I send these questions?
it is truly adorable that rick thinks assistant pros work at Edwin Watts
I think for putter, Oddessey would def beat out Scotty, but I could be wrong. It would be somewhat close.
I've recent called out one of my gold partners for his slow play,.. he became upset, but acknowledged his slow play stating its routine, I explain its ok to have a routine just speed it up, as I'm not the only one that gets frustrated wity his slow play. Some people need to be told they are frustrating the people around them.
A little off topic but I have a question.
So if a volunteer at an international golf tournament sees a rule violation. What would you say is the right thing to do. Tell the player, call a referee or do nothing?

Does walking 18 count towards the 100k?
rick with the "it was my wife's 40th birthday" is such a bold thing to say
The PGA Tour needs to standardize and all Players should be playing the same ball. There is no need for 30 balls on Tour.
Different balls work better for different people. You shouldn't regulate a feel item
Standardizing on one manufacturer’s ball to me would mean that balls would stop getting better for us. With no competition for being the tournament winners ball of choice, no money would be put towards making them better and ultimately hurts the average player.
Ladies golf has been exciting great athletes. As to equipment so many great companies all making great equipment so I’d say you look at the company that is strong in every field from ball to driver and that would be Titleist, Taylormade and Callaway. They produce, balls, putters, irons, wedges, hybrids, fairway woods and drivers. Ping also great but not involved in ball manufacturing. Plenty good at irons so has to be the big three.
It's Titleist and Mizuno
Gurantee you have no titleist clubs except wedges
@Joe-vb4pg my whole bag was Titleist, until I replaced my irons with Mizuno. You're right, I do still play vokeys, as well as TSi3 driver and a scotty phantom 11.5. So looks like you're wrong Joe, you dribbler.
