Finally an anime game that's not a gatcha game or a terrible arena fighter I've been waiting for an action rpg licensed game for years, definitely getting this one
I’m a big fan of the anime and I did hear your criticisms. I’m glad you were honest, but also talking in a positive tone about it. Made me really respect the review! And it also helped me decide that despite its shortcomings I do want to play it, but I’ll probably wait for a sale and I’ll probably get it on the steam deck as that seems a good place to play it with its relatively “normal” graphics. Thanks a lot for helping me decide!
It’s a slow burner, I got the Japanese switch version with bluray and graphics are good, gameplay is a hack and slash. I would say if price was $15-20 it would be good. Some cutscenes and voiced over. Not hard and it’s one of those games that is like all other anime games. I also just beat demon slayer and this is not that much different since it is linear anime junk food.
I'm a massive fan of the anime but if the developers made a game of this anime using the same graphics and mechanics as the game Tales of Arise game does it would be a massive success. If anyone can contact the game developers and give them this idea please 🙏 do so. Playing as Rimiru as we fight monsters, level up, consume and steal others abilities, forming alliances, exploring the open world game, and of course upgrading our village and helping our allies evolve as we go would be amazing. If a game has had the time, passion, and a good budget and story put into it then it's been my observation that it will sell well and maybe even become a massive success if it's done right.
This one wasn't on my radar at all, but dang, that combat... Who knew people were out here making classic Tales of battles in this day and age? I'm very here for it.
This game is a $50 scam, it's quite literally a rebrand of the free to play mobile game Slime - Isekai Memories on mobile. It has the quality of a handheld game from 8+ years ago but to price it at anything above $30 is completely shameless
i think it says a lot how my most anticipated game of the year ended up being aggressively mid because i completely forgot who was making it (cough cough *bandai namco*)
I knew the game wasnt gonna be great when I bought it. It was better than I expected, but I mainly bought it in hopes the support gets them to invest more money into game adaptations for it. Some of the new cinematics looked great though.
I would hold off on purchasing games made based on the series until around season 5-ish is out. At least with the pacing of the anime. The written series is quite long, and a couple of key story elements that would make a great game haven't been animated yet. Lots of great content to come that would make a great story based game. ^-^
Game looks fine. My only drawback is the town building is still on the early stage of the story. BUT this game will be entirely different if they can made another one after the manga/anime series is finished. I wish they can do similar vibe like in Ni No Kuni.
Was going to buy a physical Asian copy but Bandai Namco is guaranteed to have DLC and I don't want to deal with more accounts. I'll get it digital when there's a decent sale unless we get a physical NA release.
If Tales games didn't exist, I'd almost agree. The problem for me is that character switch, skill chaining, and animation locks really put a damper on things. Oh, and fights can devolve into an unreadable mess.
I have this on my wish list, but i really cant justify throwing 70$ at this (Canadian), when i can buy 4 other indie games like it. I'll prolly still get it later since i do like the slime series, but i need a discount since this doesn't feel worth the full retail.

Like it or not, physical shelves are still how a lot of people learn about new games, especially people who don't follow news cycles in the industry. Combined with the fact that these games are always very expensive compared to other similar titles means most people probably either insist on a physical copy for the premium price, or wait for a sale on the digital one since people are finally waking up to the fickle reality of digital releases, especially on consoles.
It's not bad but maybe because my pc was too old it crashed almost every run, i can play the game around 30 mins at most before it crashes, so frustrated

Yeah it’s quite shallow unfortunately.
I'd take an animated screensaver over another arena fighter.
Buy on sale less than 10$.. bought the game cause i wanted to try and support.. but too repetitive and lost the fun easily. Wouldve loved to have only paid less than 10 but support is fine
Yep exactly. It’s quite repetitive.
Tales of legendia vibes
Combat-wise, definitely.
Id play it if it wernt so expensive
It'll go on sale soon. just wait lol.
We have had worse anime games.
I like it.
