I always ask, “so, Do you guys feel like this….could be….the vehicle for you?” “Okay & just so i understand, Why do you feel that way?”- aka letting customers decide & convince themselves is gold. Especially helpful when your customer has too many options and gets overwhelmed. I even experienced this approach in the customers seat once and thought, “this rep helped me decide on my own…I need to take notes.” Haha
This kind of communication is one of my strengths. I didn't know there was a term for it, but this doesn't surprise me. I came to my new career after a career as an educator in higher ed and I have a doctorate in sociology, so the behavioral science element is intuitive to me. This video and other similar ones validate what I've been thinking for some time about the salesmanship that is commonly taught.
