Hiking the Big Tree Trail - Meares Island, British Columbia, Canada

Hi folks! The Big Tree Trail is a gentle 4.2 km walk located on Meares Island, BC, which is accessible by boat from Tofino. It is a mix of boardwalk and wet forest trail, with a few muddy spots. The focus of the trail is in the name; old growth forest with spectacularly beautiful, massive trees: 1000+ year old hemlock, spruce, and cedar, that tower to the sky. It was a beautiful day and the trees were magical.

Excellent video. When I was there it was so wet and muddy I was in constant fear of falling of the trail, and breaking a leg, especially on the ascents and descents, but this video perfectly captures the beauty of the place.
