East Coast Trail - White Horse Path for the Trail Raiser On The Go! Session 01 - Part 03
Hi folks! Starting September 12th, 2022, until November 6th, 2022, the East Coast Trail Association is hosting a fundraising challenge titled the Trail Raiser On The Go. For the Trail Raiser, hikers are challenged to raise money by way of donations (my donation link is bit.ly/3rieCxF, any and all donations are appreciated!) and are challenged to complete a series of hikes; three per two-week section. Since the East Coast Trail is very important to me, I thought I'd give back as much as I could, and do my bit to raise money for this gem of a trail system!
In this third video for the Trail Raiser, I head out alone on White Horse Path, rated "strenuous" by the East Coast Trail. Solo hiking requires a different motivation, but it's something I really enjoy, and it's hard to top a solo trip on a trail as rugged and beautiful as White Horse! This trail connects the community of Bauline to Cape St. Francis, location of an automated lighthouse and resettled/abandoned community (cabin owners still spend time there).
Please, folks, donate to the Trail Raiser if you can... this is a cause that deserves our support! Stay tuned for more Trail Raiser videos!

Hiking the Big Tree Trail - Meares Island, British Columbia, Canada
มุมมอง 2332 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! The Big Tree Trail is a gentle 4.2 km walk located on Meares Island, BC, which is accessible by boat from Tofino. It is a mix of boardwalk and wet forest trail, with a few muddy spots. The focus of the trail is in the name; old growth forest with spectacularly beautiful, massive trees: 1000 year old hemlock, spruce, and cedar, that tower to the sky. It was a beautiful day and the tree...
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 15 - Hanover to Killington (Thru Hike Days 54 - 57)
มุมมอง 472 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! Welcome to the last instalment of my AT adventure (for now, at least!). As I mentioned earlier, I made the decision to end my hike at Rutland, VT, and upon reaching Killington, I ended things there. Vermont has been beautiful, boring, exhilarating, scary, relaxed… the AT in a nutshell. It was a fantastic end to my experience. Thanks for sticking with me folks! Stay tuned for whatever ...

AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 14 - Lyme to Hanover (Thru Hike Days 51 - 52)
มุมมอง 492 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this video I detail the journey between the expensive town of Lyme to the expensive town of Hanover (hiking the AT can be an expensive proposition!). This is a pleasant section of trail with some nice, easy hiking, and while it doesn’t have the expansive views of some of the previous sections I’ve hiked, the views that it did have were very nice, and the appearance of fall colours ...
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 13 - North Woodstock to Lyme (Thru Hike Days 48 - 50)
มุมมอง 362 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! With this video, we see the end of the White Mountains and the start of a new chapter in my journey. With New Hampshire coming to a close the trail is definitely changing, but the challenges remain. In this video, I go solo, and climb Moosilauke, followed by Cube and Smarts Mountains. Onward to Vermont after this! Enjoy, and thanks for watching!
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 12 - North Conway to North Woodstock/Lincoln (Thru Hike Days 43 - 46)
มุมมอง 302 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this video, I’m hiking the southern part of the White Mountains; specifically, the section which contains Franconia Ridge, a spectacular ridgeline walk that’s very picturesque and that constitutes one of the Appalachian Trail’s highlights. Some challenging hiking and some great views. Thanks for watching, and enjoy! More to come!
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 11 - Gorham to N. Conway (The Presidential Traverse) (Thru Hike Days 39 - 41)
มุมมอง 392 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! It’s hard to say what the highlight of a trail as long as the Appalachian Trail is, but I think an argument can be made that the Presidentials are that highlight. In this video, we climb Mt. Madison, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Washington, Mt. Pierce, Mt. Jackson, and Mt. Webster, and follow the traverse as it winds around Mt. Adams, Mt. Clay, Mt. Monroe, and Mt. Eisenhower. Epic. The views ar...
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 10 - Gorham to Pinkham Notch (and back to Gorham) (Thru Hike Days 35 - 37)
มุมมอง 472 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this video we get started on the White Mountains in New Hampshire, a section we’ve been warned about and discussed since the start of the SOBO hike. This is a challenging but rewarding section which includes the Presidentials. For this leg, we’re climbing Mt. Moriah, the Carter Range, and the Wildcats. Some challenging hiking with some great views of the aforementioned Presidential...
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 09 - Bethel to Gorham (Thru Hike Days 30 - 33)
มุมมอง 352 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this video we tackle the Mahoosuc range, including the “hardest mile on the AT”, the Mahoosuc Notch. Whether that title is true or not is up for debate, but it certainly was a challenge! In fact, the entire range was very tough, and the weather we ran into didn’t help! Lots of mud, lots of challenging climbs, tough stuff! Check it out!
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 08 - Andover to Bethel (Thru Hike Days 26 - 28)
มุมมอง 482 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this section we climb Baldpate Mountain, a spectacular view and climb, along with a couple of smaller, but no less beautiful mountains. We decided to take our time in this section and the weather cooperated, allowing us to really enjoy our time. Arriving in Bethel, we found ourselves in one of the nicest spots we’ve stayed at, Bethel Village Motel, where we were well taken care of ...
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 07 - Rangeley to Andover (Thru Hike Days 24 - 25)
มุมมอง 352 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this video we do a relatively short section between the towns of Rangeley and Andover. It wasn’t the most pleasant section we’ve done; the weather didn’t start particularly great, the trail was in rough shape maintenance-wise, and the scenery wasn’t great. That said, hiking is sometimes about making the best of it, so we tried to do so! Facing challenges leads to learning experienc...
AT SOBO ‘21 - Episode 06 - Stratton to Rangeley (Thru Hike Days 20 - 22)
มุมมอง 372 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! In this section we traverse some of the most incredible scenery we’ve had the privilege of experiencing: the Saddlebacks. Like the Bigelows before them, this is a series of spectacular peaks linked by a ridgeline, with massive views and breathtaking views. It’s been genuinely hard for me to put into words what the scenery is like; having never climbed mountains like this in my life, I...

Looks like a wonderful trail to hike! All those dead trees create a mystic atmosphere out there. Great filming too, I am excited to watch session 2 ;)

Excellent video. When I was there it was so wet and muddy I was in constant fear of falling of the trail, and breaking a leg, especially on the ascents and descents, but this video perfectly captures the beauty of the place.

Nice setup:) I use a modified pursik knot to tie my hammock rope suspension so can slide up and down my hammock, no need the whoopee sling:)

Yeah, the climb down Wildcat was a challenge; I can only imagine it was worse going up! One of our buddies took the gondola down to skip that downhill 😂

Glad the clouds burned off to reveal the view. When I lived in the Rockies I remember feeling so bad for travels coming to town when there were random Smokey days from wildfires. Smoke would be so thick.
