There is something that many young people fail to observe the significance of at 15:37 Vinnie is "Whistling Dixie" (famous old expression, "you ain't just whistlin Dixie")
Fun fact. This movie is often shown in law schools because, among all the movies and TV shows set in courtrooms, it gets it the most correct. Devin from Legal Eagle did a breakdown of it. It's shockingly well done.
Steve Lehto of Lehto's Law also spoke well of the movie and the fact that it was correct in it's courtroom procedures. He said that he and his lawyer friends liked to joke about the "2 Yutes".
One of my favorite things about the movie is that there really was no conspiracy, no ill will in the case. Everyone was honestly trying for the outcome they considered right, and the initial misunderstanding was an honest one. The judge was a stickler, but he's supposed to be, and he came around and congratulated Vinny in the end.
And lawyers who are at odds in the courtroom can be friendly in real life. Public defenders and county attorneys stay after court to talk about their family or chat about the weather. Not lots of I’ll will unless someone is just an ass as a person.
@@d3vp131 I grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island. My father grew up in Little Italy, NYC. He could not properly pronounce anything with a t-h at the beginning or end of a word. Like Vinny, he would say "yoots" instead of "youths", "teet" instead of "teeth" and "toot" instead of "tooth". Words that began with t-h like "those" would become "dose". It drove my mother crazy trying to get him to pronounce these words.
I loved MArisa Tomai's character's transformation when she was on the stand and she, finally, realized where Vinny was going with his questions. She went from Mad to excited in one moment. And I think that part of it was not , just, that she was helping, but that Vinny put so much trust into her and her ability to figure out the critical evidence in her picture.
The other thing is that Vinny was also a mechanic, so he also understood the meaning of the tire tracks i.e. it was a Pontiac Tempest and not a Buick Skylark. That's why he told the sheriff sitting in the gallery to put in the search for the Skylark. But as a lawyer, he can't testify himself for legal reasons (you can't be an advocate and a witness/expert in your own case) along that it would be considered a biased witness so it would be less convincing to the jury. That's why he has his fiancee testify because he knows she'll come to the same conclusion he did.

Two of my favorite comedies from 1992 was My Cousin Vinny and Captain Ron. Joe Pesci was perfect in the roll as Vinny. Marisa Tomei won an academy award for best supporting actress. Funny. Those movies came out the same year, 1990. Goodfellas - September 1990 Home Alone - November 1990 But he will always be 'Mr. Big' (with that ridiculous ponytail) to me - Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. 😂 (Darn you Autocorrect - Moonwalker, not Moonraker...)
Incidentally, *Joe Pesci* is a major character in the hit *Broadway* musical *_Jersey Boys,_* which chronicles the careers of *The Four Seasons.* In his youth, *Pesci* was instrumental in bringing the *rock 'n' roll* group together and remained friends with them, particularly *Tommy DeVito.*
My Cousin Vinny is just such a fun comedy. Well cast, well acted, well paced, great comic timing, and witty writing. Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for her classic performance. I always recommend this movie to people when they need a laugh. Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did at first viewing. If you want to watch another lighthearted and funny movie in a similar vein, I would highly recommend "Galaxy Quest". It's also a pleasant surprise.
Great Reaction ya’ll. I think what the prosecution really had was a confession from both of them, “I shot the clerk” and “I knew he did it, I just waited in the car.”
The part of the movie when they are at the gas station. This is in the county I live. This is in Ga. Butts county and Jasper county There’s a bunch of movies made in this area of Ga
Good reaction to this classic. Btw, Marissa Tomei won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in this movie. And you may also recognize her as Peter Parker's (Spider-Man) Aunt May in the current Spider-Man/Marvel movies. Great actress.
My husband was a litigation paralegal for some years. The prosecutor moved to dismiss all charges because he knew he was going to lose with that information. A lot of court attorneys do eventually run for some public office, and think about what it would look like if he sent two innocent kids to prison or even to the chair. The movie is very, very accurate where it comes to criminal courtroom procedure. Now Vinny has to get himself a good paralegal to talk to witnesses and take depos.
We love this movie! When you’re from NY you really get the way they talked, dressed, argued and the accent is overdone but great! Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci were so great! Don’t worry us New Yorkers don’t understand too many people from the south! LOL!
The Judge played by Fred Gwynne is a old hand in the industry mainly known as Herman Munster in the old tv series The Munsters. Had a role in Pet Cemetery and other things. If you all like love story's I hope that you would check out the movie Christine. 1983.
The judge is Fred Gwynne and he was Herman Munster of the 'Munsters" TV program from the 1960's, he also played in the movie called 'Pet Semetary" written by Stephan King.
Never heard of Joe Pesci referred to as the home alone guy. Lol! Most people refer to him as the mob guy, Goodfellas guy, or casino guy. It's nice watching you guys discover these classics and see your natural reactions to plot lines because you guys know nothing about the movie. It's probably more fun for you as well. I love going blind into a movie, especially if it's a good movie. Keep up the good work
Y'all might know Joe Pesci from "The SUPER"! He played a slum Lord, who had to live in one of his buildings. It's a good watch. Peace and love y'all 🤟 ps another great movie that should be able to keep y'all's attention is SERENITY starring Nathan Fillion
This is one of my favorite movies ever. My friends and I, most of us NYers of some sort of Italian descent, quote it all the time. As some have said, Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for this movie. In the 90’s, the joke was that they read the wrong card and that she didn’t deserve the award. I’m glad that time has been kind to her performance. She’s magnetic in this movie and deserved the nod from the academy.
The actor playing the judge, Fred Gwynne was one of the main characters - in very heavy make-up/costume - in the 1960's TV sit-com, "The Munsters" (along with its spin-off movies such as "Munster Go Home"); & prior to this, in the 1950's he starred in the TV sit-com, "Car 54 Where Are You." I believe that "My Cousin Vinny" was his last acting job as he passed away shortly thereafter.
Everyone is so impressed with the pretty girl knowing about cars that they tend to overlook the fact that Vinny already knew everything that she stated to the court from the pictures that she took earlier. That is why he asked her to deny his argument about two of the exact same car were at the Sack O Sud.
Or, could it not be that he noticed the discrepancy of the double vs single tracks and simply had supreme confidence that Miss smartypants, the love of his life, would be able to explain it due to her extensive automotive knowledge?
One of my all time favorites. I have it on DVD. Back when that mattered. Another all time favorite that I have on VHS and DVD is Coal Miner’s Daughter. My absolute favorite. The life story of Loretta Lynn, who we just lost. Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones many years ago.
It's not just a great movie - it's a RE-Watchable great movie. You'll laugh out loud over and over with each viewing :) I'd enjoy watching you two lovely people taking a look at Dumb and Dumber!
This is another one of my most favorite movies EVER!! I saw that a lot of lawyers actually watch it and rate it very high on authenticity of legal proceedings! When the judge goes through to vet Vinnie, all of that is actual procedure. It's such a good movie. I've probably seen it 2 dozen times. I watch it every time I come across it. Y'all are the absolute BEST!! Please never stop making these videos.

You how the judge was? Hermon Munster.....the Husband in the TV show the Munsters. He was Frankenstein, Lilly was his wife-she was a Vampire, their son was Eddie-he was a vampire too, then there was Grandpa-a vampire and I believe that their niece lived with them.....she was a normal young lady. LoL ...Eddie had a pet Dragon that breathed fire in the basement. It was a black and white tv show when I was a kid back in the early 70's. 😊👍
Did you just say..."he want's to open that can of tuna...trust me?" Freakin epic.... coughed up a lung with laughing at Asia's reaction to that line. OMG
BJ, the Judge was played by Fred Gwynne, who played Herman Munster on, "The Munsters." And, funny you should mention Frankie Valli in reference to Joe Pesci because Joe Pesci was childhood friends with Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi of Frank Valli & the Four Seasons - and he introduced the three of them to the fourth member, Bob Gaudio.
Just finished watching the full reaction over on Patreon, and I enjoyed it immensely! When I first watched Home Alone, I had no idea I was witnessing the birth of a genius career.
Funny. Those movies came out the same year, 1990.
Goodfellas - September 1990
Home Alone - November 1990
But he will always be 'Mr. Big' (with that ridiculous ponytail) to me - Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. 😂
(Darn you Autocorrect - Moonwalker, not Moonraker...)
Right?? We old…
@@MarshaLove0723, I mostly remember him as Leo Getz on Lethal Weapon.
Pesci's biggest roles are GoodFellas, Casino, Raging Bull, Home Alone, the Lethal Weapon series, and recently The Irishman. And of course this gem.
@@VinMar-m6w I was completely unaware of that. Awesome to know.
The first few minutes of this movie present the PERFECT scenario of why you should never speak to the police without a lawyer.
Great Reaction ya’ll. I think what the prosecution really had was a confession from both of them, “I shot the clerk” and “I knew he did it, I just waited in the car.”
This movie has special won an award from the American Bar Association for its accuracy of courtroom procedure.
The part of the movie when they are at the gas station. This is in the county I live. This is in Ga. Butts county and Jasper county There’s a bunch of movies made in this area of Ga
My next door neighbor is a mechanic and he told me every single thing they say about cars in this movie is 100% dead on balls accurate.
Good reaction to this classic. Btw, Marissa Tomei won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in this movie. And you may also recognize her as Peter Parker's (Spider-Man) Aunt May in the current Spider-Man/Marvel movies. Great actress.
You guys are the cutest couple. You make watching movies a lot of fun. Thank you guys!
I have seen this movie at least 20 times, and I'm so glad I got to experience it with you two. I'm so glad you liked it!
I've watched it so many times too! The deer line is the best.
One of my favorite movie. You don’t need flashy SFX or action to make a good movie. Awesome review.
This movie is a classic. Absolutely hilarious and so different. Glad you enjoyed as we all have over the years.
We love this movie! When you’re from NY you really get the way they talked, dressed, argued and the accent is overdone but great! Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci were so great! Don’t worry us New Yorkers don’t understand too many people from the south! LOL!
Spike Lee gave Marissa Tomei her break in Jungle Fever
Who was she in Jungle Fever? I don't remember her in that
That was Annabella Sciorra
@@ShanandthebookofpureevilGloria from Sopranos
Keep up the good work
And Ricky Gervais called him “ Baby Yoda”!
Or, could it not be that he noticed the discrepancy of the double vs single tracks and simply had supreme confidence that Miss smartypants, the love of his life, would be able to explain it due to her extensive automotive knowledge?
so many brilliant classic movies from the 90s
One of my all time favorites. I have it on DVD. Back when that mattered. Another all time favorite that I have on VHS and DVD is Coal Miner’s Daughter. My absolute favorite. The life story of Loretta Lynn, who we just lost. Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones many years ago.
the judge is Herman Munster. lol. such a funny movie.
It's not just a great movie - it's a RE-Watchable great movie. You'll laugh out loud over and over with each viewing :) I'd enjoy watching you two lovely people taking a look at Dumb and Dumber!
The judge was Herman Munster!
I've seen this movie many times...it never gets old, love it!
Marisa won an Academy Award for her performance
Marisa Tomei actually won an Academy Award from this movie. She was amazing!!!
Hey Asia & BJ. I love watching movies with you guys. I enjoy your laughter and conversations during the features like My Cousin Vinny. Even though the movies are movies I've seen, I get a real joy in rewatching them with you two.
Hi guys. Loved your comments and reactions. I dont know if someone already answered this. The FBI guy was the Secretary of Defence in the movie Independence Day. The actor's name is James Rebhorn.
Watched this movie for first time on vhs on 2/6/93 as a distraction after finding out my father had been killed. Worse day of my life. This movie helped me escape life for a moment. And showed me happiness would be possible again. I watch it every year on Feb 6th. My dad would have loved it. Thank you, Ralph Macchio and Joe Pesci
This was filmed in and around where I grew up and live. The Sac-O-suds is still there but not open anymore.
It's your girl Jennifer. Back like I never left (and stealing your line 😂). So happy that you guys watched this movie. It's by far one of the FUNNIEST movies ever made. Full of funny scenes and lines. My favorite is Marisa Tomei stomping her foot on the porch and declaring "at this rate I ain't ever getting married." 🤣What a great, memorable scene and line.
Very Funny Movie. 😊😅 Marisa Tomei Won An Oscar for For Her performance in this Movie.😎👍👌😎👊✊😎🍁
Such a classic! This movie is hilarious 💜
"The two yutes. The two whaaat? The two youthhhs." What of my favorite parts in this movie. Great, great movie all the way around.
Fun one, you two! Love this movie. It's a keeper, isn't it? Magic grits! 😂
Funny you mentioned Frankie Valli. Joe was friends with him as a teen and had a hand in getting the Four Seansons together. He really wanted to be a singer. I think he released an album himself.
Seeing Bruce McGill playing in every movie, he'll always be my favorite character D-Day in Animal House😁
The Judge acted in a sitcom called the ADAMS FAMILY.
I am SO excited for this reaction. One of my childhood favourites! I'll be preping a nice snack for this. Love from Montreal, QC.
The man playing the shireff was in tv show called macgyver
OMFG!! One of our family favorites!!!!! We QUOTE this movie ALL the time! Thank you so much... can't wait to watch this with you!! ❤️🥰 Hugs, from Mesa, AZ 🌵
Nailed it. Joe Pesci was in Casino with Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone. Joe is better known for Home Alone and Goodfellas.
This is one of my favorite movies! I loved your reaction and I'm so glad y'all liked it!
Did ya’ll notice the other lawyer is the mean coach on The Mighty Ducks?
I don't have any children of my own. So I just love watching you guys watching or listening to something for the first. Your wide eyed reactions to things I grew up with
give me such a kick. Enjoy, enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. God bless. 😃
OMG
Skipped over all the interactions with JT from the pool hall. Those were some of the funniest parts.
BJ, the Judge was played by Fred Gwynne, who played Herman Munster on, "The Munsters." And, funny you should mention Frankie Valli in reference to Joe Pesci because Joe Pesci was childhood friends with Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi of Frank Valli & the Four Seasons - and he introduced the three of them to the fourth member, Bob Gaudio.
th boy playing vinnies cousin was the karate kid was also fonzies cousin in the tv series Happy Days when he was younger
Just finished watching the full reaction over on Patreon, and I enjoyed it immensely! I haven't sat through this movie in quite some time, but when I saw it in the theater back in '92, me and my girlfriend at the time almost choked we were laughing so hard! If you guys want to see a straight up dramatic courtroom drama, and one of the best movies of all time, you must see 12 ANGRY MEN (1957) starring one of the greats, Henry Fonda, and eleven of the greatest supporting actors who ever lived! You WON'T be disappointed! Thanks, guys!
