As a coin dealer, has Keith ever sold mystery packs, and has he ever stuck in a really nice value coin, that made the pack actually worth MORE than what he is selling it for, just to give a few customers the chance at actually coming out on top?
I used to go to flea markets and antique store type permanent store complex thing we had...if I saw something for 30 bucks, I'd expect maybe 15-20 bucks book value worth of stuff inside. I'd think that's about what you'd expect, and it would be a lot of novelty junk. I'm writing this now before I see the end of this. Yeah, you can't really expect any of these to be banger grab bags, that's just not what...does anyone expect that? Like a pack of trading cards?
Portsmouth coin do pretty desent mystery packs. It's not stuff I would pick out some damaged and cleaned some stuff they prolly have a harder time selling but you get your value. Coin shops are the best place to buy these as they have plenty of their harder to sell items they will give you your value it's just not always what people will choose. These online scammers making their living off these gotta sell u a lil for alot to make their money.
I’m not sure what people are talking about here. If it was my question that has caused a stir, that was not my intention and I think people misunderstood. If I owned a coin shop and used mystery bags to move slow moving merch, occasionally I would stick in a high value coin to cause people to really brag about my service and the possibility of “winning” a higher value bag. So I was wondering if coin shops do that, or if THIS coin shop does something like that.
No! He stated, "There's a sucker born every minute." What’s interesting about (you people) & your alcoholism ...........is that just a few years before the infamous potato famine, Ireland was the site of a massively successful temperance campaign led by the noted Catholic priest, Theobald Mathew. So successful was this campaign that between 1838 and 1841, their national alcohol consumption was cut in half.
Surely, given its' wear, the Roosevelt Dime is only worth its' melt value, but I would have expected the Mercury's condition would have lifted it out of the melt realm...
If those coins were sitting in in his shop for sale they would be priced higher than what he told you. That's why you don't go to coin dealers. You're better off buying from eBay if you know what you're doing
I grab coins from a coin machine that people use often and I always find all kinds of world coins. I think it’s really cool to see them but I might carry them around to give away or maybe exchange for small items if I can
I've heard it's because refiners don't like them or war nickels. Too little silver for the effort. I believe refining efficiency will increase over time(if they don't, I will!). I got mine when they were $3.15 a piece. I have zero desire to sell anything at this time. I'm waiting til after the next mass melting. In any case, I only bought a few tubes. Variety is very important to me.
@Handle_number_7 Yeah, I agree with you. I started stacking in 2013. Selling isn't my goal. I like calling shops to help get a better understanding of what things are selling for and what they will purchase coins and rounds for. Variety has been very important to me as well. I still have alot to learn after 11 years.
I don't have many 40% halves or 35% war nickles, but I will pick them up if the deal is good enough. Sometimes shops or individuals can't really move them, so I can get them under melt. In that case, I will take small amounts of them, but I'm not going to seek them out & I'm certainly not going to pay up for them.
I got lucky once with a $100 mystery grab bug that got through Etsy. I don't think the seller knew when he sent me a 1880 O with the micro O vam on it. Happy me.
The value of a Mercury Dime can vary from less than $1.50 to over $1,500 depending on its condition, date, and mint mark. For example, as of July 2024, a circulated 1945 Mercury Dime is worth between $3.25 and $5.75, while a 1926 Mercury Dime in good condition is worth $3, but an uncirculated one can be worth $450. Also best to buy ''junk silver' locally if buying by face value. Coins like dimes, when well worn, are worth much less than the nice examples shown here.
Yeah its a cool thing for a gift if you make a case for them or for a kid to get them interesting in history. But many coins are only valuable for the history behind the images, period, specific date. You're not likely to get rich buying and selling money. The ones who get rich are the finders. Grandma's piggy bank, in the walls of an old building being renovated, discovering a Spanish Galleon, etc. ;)
@11:32 a mystery pack should at least contain an item/items that do in fact total the price of the mystery pack. The point to the mystery should be what is inside NOT am I being robbed wow gang
Here in the UK there is a collector's market for pre-decimal currency. Someone might pay something for that half penny. Not much though. It may have copper value. I believe half and full pennies had some copper in them. You might get a dollar for it but you probably have to export it. It is finding a buyer that is the problem. You could be waiting weeks, months, years.

I always think mystery packs are coins that dealers otherwise cannot sell, meaning they're going to be coins that I likely don't care one bit for and will have a tough time finding other people who want them, the value in the coins thus needs to be greater than what I pay, otherwise why would I ever want them?

Coin shops are the best place to buy these as they have plenty of their harder to sell items they will give you your value it's just not always what people will choose. These online scammers making their living off these gotta sell u a lil for alot to make their money.
Hmmm chill out nothing I said was even remotely controversial.

PT Barnum once said, "A sucker is born every day," and that quote applies here.
No! He stated, "There's a sucker born every minute."
What’s interesting about (you people) & your alcoholism ...........is that just a few years before the infamous potato famine, Ireland was the site of a massively successful temperance campaign led by the noted Catholic priest, Theobald Mathew. So successful was this campaign that between 1838 and 1841, their national alcohol consumption was cut in half.
That's because the moonshiners had no potatoes to make the illicit alcohol. Ie Poteen.l

He was right! That's how he became a millionaire....!!
Thanks so very much to you both for saving some of us losing money in most cases!
Surely, given its' wear, the Roosevelt Dime is only worth its' melt value, but I would have expected the Mercury's condition would have lifted it out of the melt realm...
Hey are you ever going to release the hidden audio footage from that video a few weeks ago?
Excellent show. Informative, with the expert.
Very entertaining, especially with the "Bamm!" presentation of each coin. Suspenseful.
I subscribed.👍
II really like your honesty In can anyone call and ask you for your opinion about their coins as well?
Ummm, ebay fees are 15% for smaller sellers and they charge that commission on the shipping and sales tax collected too.
I buy stuff I like from the US mint and only 2 other highly reputable dealers who will also buy back from me when I want to sell.
This is a very interesting and informative video thank you for posting 👍👍.
If those coins were sitting in in his shop for sale they would be priced higher than what he told you. That's why you don't go to coin dealers. You're better off buying from eBay if you know what you're doing
Great job, Silver Seeker & Keith from Coin Crew!
I grab coins from a coin machine that people use often and I always find all kinds of world coins. I think it’s really cool to see them but I might carry them around to give away or maybe exchange for small items if I can
Any time you hear junk about silver. Silver is a precious metal.
I really like/appreciate videos like this they teach me a lot thanks
These are like the discount version of buying vault coins 😂
Never buy anything like this. Great for sharing
I liked the dealer you had on. 👍
I dnt see the link to his channel ?
Coin crew Keith is awesome! Great video! 🎉
Hey i found that exact same british penny metal detecting in a park in montana last year. Wasnt expexting one of those. Hahha
A better way was to GO to a dealer, whom you never spoke to before and recorded his appraisal.
Right on, dude!
In Minnesota, the Minneapolis area coin shops are only willing to pay between $2-$2.30 for 40% halves. I need to check out other states. SMH.
Glad to see you and Keith
I got lucky once with a $100 mystery grab bug that got through Etsy. I don't think the seller knew when he sent me a 1880 O with the micro O vam on it. Happy me.
The value of a Mercury Dime can vary from less than $1.50 to over $1,500 depending on its condition, date, and mint mark. For example, as of July 2024, a circulated 1945 Mercury Dime is worth between $3.25 and $5.75, while a 1926 Mercury Dime in good condition is worth $3, but an uncirculated one can be worth $450. Some of the rarest Mercury Dimes include the 1916-D, 1921, 1921-D, 1925-D, 1926-S, 1931-D, and the 1942 over 41
Well aware my friend but thanks for the info and comment. :)
Off topic question ... I'm not sure if you ever addressed the upswing on copper market and what's your take on the future of this metal going foward ...I've noticed many articles posted on the web about copper and how the demand now exceeds the production demands as the world grows especially on solar energy and in electric cars even in the charging areas for them do you think this will ever become a precious metal... Tks Frank

Enjoy all you topics! Great stuff!!
Thanks for sharing 😊
I thought the nickel was just a sticker on it. I have a dollar with Santa, another dollar with coin guy on it, and several Kennedy half dollars with other people on them they are all just stickers. I know there was some colorized American eagles in 2000.
I have 4 1977 quarters, two with the “D on them and two without. I watched a video on TH-cam saying they are worth $100,000 each which is bs, they aren’t worth taking to a coin expert!!
i like Keith and his honesty
I always wonder how much scammers put fake coins circulate and how no one can see real ones from fakes
Also best to buy ''junk silver' locally if buying by face value. Coins like dimes, when well worn, are worth much less than the nice examples shown here.
I just watched a video where the dude bought a silver Libertad for only $32!
Yeah its a cool thing for a gift if you make a case for them or for a kid to get them interesting in history.
But many coins are only valuable for the history behind the images, period, specific date.
You're not likely to get rich buying and selling money. The ones who get rich are the finders. Grandma's piggy bank, in the walls of an old building being renovated, discovering a Spanish Galleon, etc. ;)
Cool video.
I look at mercury dimes as a collectable. Not as just the silver they are made of.
Wow I like this video silver seeker. This is a great educational video. Thank you for sharing.
These videos are fun to watch
@11:32 a mystery pack should at least contain an item/items that do in fact total the price of the mystery pack. The point to the mystery should be what is inside NOT am I being robbed wow gang
You're a good sport!
What days are your coin show?
I like that nickel and I love finding gold plated junk silver.
At an antique store saw a circulated war cent set around $20.00. It was in a holder but $20.00??
Here in the UK there is a collector's market for pre-decimal currency. Someone might pay something for that half penny. Not much though. It may have copper value. I believe half and full pennies had some copper in them. You might get a dollar for it but you probably have to export it.
It is finding a buyer that is the problem. You could be waiting weeks, months, years.
Pennies, Ha'pennies, Farthings were Bronze during that era.
@@-oiiio-3993 I found that out after posting this comment. Thanks for the correction though.
@@-oiiio-3993A major component of bronze is copper.
@@-oiiio-3993On a side note a guy I know does CNC. Milling, we took some of the millings. And melted them down and were surprised to discover silica. Sand in the slag looked into it to find out that cheap bronze included silica.
@@mudfun3703 _"A major component of bronze is copper."_
You don't say.
U.S. Cents of mid 1864 through mid 1982 (with exception of 1943) were a bronze alloy of 95 % copper. Before 1962 the remaining 5% was 'tin and zinc', during 1962 the tin was eliminated leaving .95 copper, .05 zinc.
This was better than some bags, they did actually include silver
Good stuff!
So I happened to live close by Keith's store stopped there. When I found out about it. On one of your videos. Nice place. I bought an ounce of silver and 1/2, a dozen 90% dimes this has been several months ago. He was charging 27 times face. On the 90%.
Every coin is a "world coin".
Fun episode, and very informative. I just don't understand why that one coin was worth nothing. What did I miss?
There are few collectors of common 20th Century British Half Pennies in the U.S., which is his market.
Better to give to a kid who may gain inspiration from it to learn about other nations, times... .
On the other hand, decades ago I cut out the field areas of several of those with a jeweler's saw to make cut out coin pendants.
The old Ha'penny with that ship looked great as such.
@-oiiio-3993 let me guess...you sold the pendants for half of an half penny, but made money on the pins and chains
Will either of you be at the FUN show in July?
Link to his channel?
I always think mystery packs are coins that dealers otherwise cannot sell, meaning they're going to be coins that I likely don't care one bit for and will have a tough time finding other people who want them, the value in the coins thus needs to be greater than what I pay, otherwise why would I ever want them?
Just found a 1944 Lincoln penny.Googled it saw crazy prices.
850..00 up to 2500 and up.
Called 3 dealers. Not worth a dime. What is going on?
It is copper no mint mark and L right against the rim. Decent condition.
@@Jason-eh3ujlook to see if any like that sold on Ebay and you should get an idea.

Pig in a poke. Dat ain't no pig, it's a bull frog. Mama gonna be mad.
I used to sell some mystery deals on ebay and did well multiple repeat buyers all positive feedback but I also made them well 10 silver total 2 were either morgan peace or ase 2 half dollar franklin barber or Kennedy 2 quarters and 4 dimes and i usually threw in an extra 40% or a foreign silver then I had 1800s cents and some other stuff to throw in I believe it was $100
Well I saw a 40% silver 1971 Kennedy and it’s sold for 13,000 some of these coins you would have to see with the collector sometimes they’re interested in them somebody else can see it’s worth two dollars but maybe they’re interested in their offer much more money all depends where you sell it
I found a 1972 dime that was only have a dime, meaning it is a dime that was only the Head side. Is it junk or does it have some value?
@@Joy-of-collecting I would think MORE value. See if you can find another on the web!
You're buying into the mystery not the contents. Seller should state this for this type of mystery bag so there isnt any confusion.
Well, I going to stick to things I’m more comfortable with.
Thanks guys for helping us to be mindful of various offers that we might regret ever buying. 👍🏽
My favorite coin channel
Had a similar experience on ETSY. Bought a roll of Buffalos + a roll of Indians SUPPOSEDLY full dates for $176. Recil'd machine wrapped rolls of G-4's _ALL DATELESS. Unable to return due to being unwrapped ! Left appropriate feedback.
I have several pennies which are valued at $4 each. Picked them up in a local parking lot.
I’m not seeing the link to Keith’s channel … 🤷🏻♂️

I'm not a professional coin/bill hunter, but I have enough common sense to reach anything from I buy it...
I got ripped off once for a sports card about 15 years ago.
Then, a chemically altered $5.00 bill 2 years ago.
Since the bill scam, I research EVERYTHING...
Usually with the Kennedy half dollars if the middle looks copper color it’s 40 % silver.
I just got my Mint subscription for burnished Eagles. I couldn't believe the premium. $76 each.
Trying to keep my sets complete for my grandkids.
I got mine this week, I cut my subscription down to 1 from 2. They’re to over priced got the one for the collection.
I tried an Evidence Bag last month from Choppers show on TV.
I was surprised and happy to find significant silver coins and even a one gram gold bar. Cost was $129 + shipping. Conservatively, I figured I received $150 plus +++.
Seeker, I'd like to see what you think of his bags. Would make a good video.
Keep up the good work for us stickers and collectors.
If I had a 1785 Lincoln Penny how much would it be worth?
I would like to see a video on coins that are worth more money and a good buy.
Yea I found one coin in a tube of twenty, silver plated, worth about $17 on eBay but no LCS in MN would even take it only doing this 4 yrs since retirement but enjoy you're vids🎉😂❤ we learn as we stack 🥈💰🩵
Littleton Coin Company is the biggest rip-off. They always massively mark up their coins. I made the mistake of buying a few of their coins when I first started and years later, I still haven't broke even on those coins.
I would have thought that they would be worth more than what the dealer said.
Somewhat busted my bubble, I have a couple of hand fulls of silver coins and thought I had some $$$$$
I guess my silver certificates are not valuable as thought also 🤔
But I have a bunch of Texas quarters , I feel certain they are priceless, to me 😀
Never buy a mystery bag!
Always will be overpriced and little value
