    I was tested in the 80s and turned out to be ‘winter’. I have pretty much bought almost all my clothing in winter colors and it’s been great. Everything matches and I can combine pieces that I’ve had for years, even decades. We could avoid a lot of waste if more people knew which colors work for them.

    adding on, if you have a neutral undertone (i have no obvious yellow or pink, and my veins are purple, blue, and green), if you can determine the other two, then you can still find your season. i'm neutral undertone, but because i have very little contrast in the coloring (pale, light eyes, and even with my natural brown hair it's not a stark contrast to those two, you can check by making your pictures black and white to check hue) and i am muted so all my features tend to sort of blend into each other, i know i'm a summer.

    • @ZurditaDinamita
      @ZurditaDinamita 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But soft autumns aren't muted too? I'm in a similar situation: temperature is clearly not my first feature, and my contrast is medium (dark, but not black, hair + fair, but not porcelain white, skin). I could call myself soft *iguess* but I'm struggling between autumn and summer

    I have a friend that studied color theory in college, she’s helped me tremendously! I have a light, light warm undertone, green looking veins, dark hair and green eyes. I was told that I’m an autumn. I used all warm makeup exclusively and autumn clothing, but I kept searching for something but I didn’t know what. My friend told me try cool colors , makeup and clothing ( but always use my correct foundation for my skintone) which I did. Wow! What a difference! She said doing this will give me a more dramatic look. By using the opposite colors was the contrast I needed . Staying in the autumn pallet was a more natural look and doing the opposite was the dramatic look I had been looking for! Same for my clothing ! I wear silver jewelry too!

    • @PandoraBear357
      @PandoraBear357 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Exactly. Contrast is not a bad thing. I'm a dark autumn, but will wear pastels I "shouldn't" wear because they contrast my skin and hair. I can't do muted colors as they wash me out, but if it's a clear cool pastel my skin looks more golden tan and my hair looks even darker and richer.

    Color analysis became popular in 1979 or 80 with a book called Color Me Beautiful. Unfortunately, I do not recall the author’s name. I have had my colors “done”. by several different stylists, and each one said something different. I pretty much stay with winter, but Summer and spring leak in there. I found that if I wear something autumn EN muted it makes me look sick so those are the colors that I wear to work when I want to be sent home L O L

    This was really popular in the 80s, and my Mom and I went to “have our colors done.” When the lady asked what my favorite colors were…I listed off red, black, bright purple, royal blue…it was the 80s! She was like, “uh huh” and then I was appalled when I found out that I was a “Fall” and I was going to look best in orange and brown…However, I do definitely look better in warm toned clothing, and can still wear pinks, purples and reds…I just look for the warmer shades of them, and they are flattering. I can pull off yellow! And, I look like death in light blue, grey, and really light pastels…totally washed out, makes my skin look sick. So, I say, wear what colors you like, and I’ll wear black and navy blue, I love them! But, I know that some things are more flattering, but, I choose based on what I like generally.

    These variables aren't always absolute. For example, my sister has gold undertones but is an obvious winter, hands down, no exception.
    One way, aside from the silver vs gold jewelry test, is to examine yourself against some of the colors that are distinctly the season in question without overlapping with other seasons. My picks: Winter; electric blue, jet black, and pure white. Summer; cool berry colors, light lemon yellow, cadet blue (like the crayon)and lavender. Autumn; mustard yellow, warm rust, and forest green. Spring; peach, peachy tan, and berry colors that have a warm tint. More often than not, when you hold up "your color" against your face you'll know because they POP like other colors don't.
    To get a better idea of what you're looking for, look up the contrasting photos in "Color Me Beautiful" by Carole Jackson.

    I love your lipstick tone - it's one I can wear even though I'm pale with mousy brown hair. The color palettes you show look exactly like the ones I go by. I'm a spring and look much better in warmer clear colors and actually do like many of the colors in the autumn palette, but some of those are too dark for me. Spring colors can be harder to find in my experience. I actually have the original book by Carole Jackson, "Color Me Beautiful," that came out in the early 70s when I was in high school. (I see you can still find the book at thrift stores and maybe in your public library). Once you get an eye for what you know you look good in, it makes things simpler with makeup, clothes and even in decorating in your home. I choose peach and coral colors for lipstick. I really don't like the cooler colors on me and know I don't look good at all in stark black or white ever and never wear silver toned jewelry. Dark colors up against my face make me look too pale and sickly. It can help if you're new at this to go into a thrift store where the blouses are arranged by color and play around with them. I know I'm drawn to certain color tones, and I like simple classic clothing.

    Advice for someone with warm/neutral undertones, dark & high contrast features, and a bright chroma? Very clearly bright (highly saturated), and dark (dark brown eyes), and barely warm undertones are enhanced by natural red hair and loads of very warm freckles. But there is no colour season for this! Can you be a mix of two? It's either a dark autumn or a bright spring or both?

I look better in gold jewellery but my skin is more cool/neutral. I find colour theory quite alienating, and can't find which season would in theory suit me! What I do know is that beige, light grey, tan, millennial pink colours next to my face do me no favours - anything washed out is not my friend. Hot aqua, schiaparelli pink, soft neon orange/yellows look great. I'm always v happy in a warm tomatoey red. I gravitate toward warm/saturated shades, but also muted greens, deep lilacs, cobalt blue seem to work well too. Eh, I don't know. I find "this is your type" categorising very tricky to find my place in (see also: kibbe body types!)

    I think this video is very well done! In fact, it's the best video I have seen on this topic. But I am still having problems figuring out my color season. And also, for each season there are colors I look great in and colors I don't. So, I just buy what I feel looks best on me lol

    not sure if I'm spring or fall - Ive always been confused by this. I tend to wear olives, browns and navy always looks good vs black. Pastels make me look dead, and a lot of the spring colors don't work for me, until you hit jewel tones. So what season is Marion Cottilard, cuz I was told for a long time, we look like sisters, except eye color.

    Lol I was excited until we hit the color wheel, then I realized my combo wasn't on there 😅 I think I'm warm, medium/dark, & bright I think, so I'm closest to spring I guess! I haven't had much practice in knowing what colors suit me tbh, looks like I'll just have to start paying more attention to these things 🤔

      Hi. Do you know your contrast? If you don't, then take a selfie w/ o makeup. Set the filter to B&W. If you have high contrast, there will be much difference between your hair & skin, like Anne Hathaway. If you have high contrast, warm, bright = you may be a bright spring.

      Hi, if you're a POC, you can be an autumn or spring. If bright suits you better = spring. If muted = autumn. Can you wear pumpkin orange, olive green & mustard yellow? If yes = autumn.

      Are you dark, fair or in between? Does your hair have reddish or golden hints, or is it more neutral or ashy looking? How would you describe your skin? What's the colour of your veins on the back of your wrists? Best way to determine if you're warm or cool is to hold up silver and gold fabric against your skin.

    I found out years ago that I'm a Summer. I look best in blues and purples -- the Summer power colors -- and disgusting in yellow. Note there is only one yellow in the Summer color scheme. I have naturally blond hair with eyes that are bluish grayish green. (I've had my eyes described as all those three colors.)

      Being a spring doesn't mean that you have to be clear and bright, you can be a light spring (so muted), bright spring (if you're very bright in coloring-bright blue eyes for example) or a pure spring in case you're a redhead

      It depends - perhaps you're a Soft Autumn, which is quite light and muted, or maybe a Light Spring, which also isn't very bright as it is influenced by the Light Summer color palette.
