WHAT ABOUT OLIVE SKIN? 👀Olive skin can't just be put under one category, because we need to also look at the intensity between your hair colour, eye colour and skin colour overall. Some olives find they look best in cooler colours, some like the warmer ones too; we all have unique colouring even in that category. Just wanted to bump that up here as many people asked that question, and I'm sorry if you felt that it was overlooked in the video! We assess hair, skin and eye colour all together (when possible e.g. hair loss or similar of course takes hair out of the equation but then we still have skin and eyes left to look at) and so the balance between these 3 are what helps us decide on a palette. And then harmony! I like focusing on that bit rather than the “dark circles and shadows” which definitely does sometimes appear when you wear your less “flattering” colours, but it doesn’t always happen! Sometimes you literally don’t see that kind of stuff when testing. However, you will always be able to notice the presence (or lack) of harmony - are you wearing the colour or is the colour wearing you is the question. 👀 when we wear colours that match our colouring it leaves room for people to notice us too, not just the clothes we wear. Anyway, a final reminder to HAVE FUN! Colour analysis may be highlighted as a way to “look good” but I think it’s far more important to look at it as a tool to help you wear colour and enjoy it! I’d like to look at myself as living proof! I used to shy away from colour in black, white and grey but I feel more confident with my personal style now than ever. Thanks for watching, it means a lot. Signe xx ❤️
I am light olive, light to medium cool brown hair and cool green eyes, but with a bit ocher. I am in between every category that I ever saw. I cannot go light AT ALL (washes me out). I cannot go too deep (makes me feel goth). I am not extremely cool, but still cool is way better than warm on me. I LOOK soft (hair and everything), but I NEED more intense colors for the light olive skin (otherwise I am washed out). But I cannot wear jewel tones, since I am too soft. So, I am MEDIUM in everything...but leaning cool and a bit more intense. :D What category is THAT?
I'm also soft & cool (greying hair that used to be light ash brown). I think when you want to wear a color that isn't maybe in your 'best' colors, you can still wear it, but maybe not next to your face. Like I think anyone can wear black pants or black shoes and you can just be more focused on tops fitting into the best colors palette. The colors of each season and undertone are not always available every year and every season of the year. Sometimes you have to wait for your best color to become trendy, and then when it does, stock up on it! Because when it goes out of trend, it might be years before it appears back in stores!
This is very helpful. I’ve been professionally color typed several times and every consultant has given me a different result. It’s been very confusing as I’ve tried to rebuild my wardrobe (after significant weight loss, I’ve literally had to repurchase everything except shoes and socks). I didn’t want to invest in pricey clothing or jewelry only to find that it doesn’t actually suit me! After watching this video, I can clearly see that the reason my other analysis’ didn’t seem to fit is that the other consultants were primarily focused on whether I was warm or cool toned (seasonal) and I’m neither! I look good in both gold and silver, depending on what clothing I’m wearing and the time of year. (I tend to be paler in winter of course, and my skin takes on a distinctive purple quality when I’m cold, though I get a nice golden glow in the summer when my freckles become more pronounced). Your example makes it pretty evident to me that I am neutral toned and can wear warm leaning colors AND cool leaning colors, as long as they don’t fall too heavily toward any one end of the spectrum. I have warm eyes and cool hair, but not a lot of contrast so soft makes the most sense. Up until now, I have been afraid to branch out and have been purchasing mostly all neutrals as well as cheaper costume jewelry but this explanation has given me the confidence to expand my horizons.❤
The seasonal concept ALSO includes the characteristics of intensity. Muted or clear, pastell or deep. Those characteristics determine if you can "borrow" from out of your season. And these characteristics become more important for people of colour.
Very interesting! I am a Spring (professionally assessed) gone multi toned gray. I have felt confused by my colors since I've been able to go cooler than I used and less neutral. I can actually wear black & white together very well! Pastels make me look completely washed out and sick. But gold is definitely my metal.
Signe, you look lovely in this video! I really like how your hair color is looking lately, and that blue sweater is such a nice color for you (a perfect ad for the importance of color analysis haha!).
This video speaks to me on so many levels! I have always struggled with finding my undertone. I have both green and purple veins, I find both gold and silver suit me. I have also struggled for years with finding my perfect foundation because, as it seems to me, most brands strictly followed undertones' theory and I had an option of either looking yellow, peachy or too rosy. I prefer and usually choose cooler tone lipsticks, but I find warm tone shadows suit me better. I have gravitated towards certain colors naturally and, when shopping, looked for them specifically, but could've never explained why. Whenever I tried wearing black because 'it's the neutral, it's what all of us need in our closet, it goes with everything', I felt so uncomfortable, I looked like I haven't slept in ages and it highlighted everything it didn't need to - when in reality, black should've been the color to 'conceal' imperfections. Same goes for trying any clear, bright color. Following the seasonal chart, I saw myself in both soft autumn and soft summer simply because undertones confuse me and I truly don't see myself in either cool or warm, rather somewhere in between. On the contrary, following the tonal chart, I could've simply chosen soft, and that goes for both warm and cool colors you've presented, which is exactly what is, in my case, correct - I am soft, and that is my primary characteristic. I can wear all colors in the soft family line, whether warm or cool. And it is so freeing to finally be able to put a rest on it and have a proof that what I've been instinctively choosing over years is what actually suits me, and that my instinct was correct - I've been just too strict and tried to adapt to a classification that truly doesn't represent me, my style or my appearance. Thank you, Signe, for this video ❤️
What a thorough explanation with great example photos. I am a cool, deep, clear. Now I know why whenever I buy blush pink or light peach tops they just don't do anything for me. I always end up taking those shirts off and switching to something else. I have dark salt and pepper hair but when I use to dye it the color was a warmer brown. I use to wear warm browns and they looked ok but never good. Now I've found cool browns that make my skin come alive. As for jewelry I go back and forth. Silver or white gold looks better on me but gold jewelry still brings me joy so I wear it when it looks better with the outfit I choose that day.
You look stunning in that light blue top! My colouring has changed as my hair has gotten more gray ( from deep to clear winter). Thanks so much for this valuable guide! ❤❤❤
I honestly love watching your videos and your style. I love that you don’t wear a lot of really branded logo items as well as I do find that keeps much longer in your wardrobe than clothes with logos. I think I’m similar tones to yourself expect my hair is brown with lighter areas but my skin is naturally paler with blue eyes. ❤
From this I realize I’m soft and light and then I can just see from there warm cool or both… I’m trying really hard to phase out black and at least move it away from my face. It’s been more fun and creative for me. I love your channel and your approach. You are calm thoughtful and open. And you really practice what you stand for. Thank you!!
Excellent video! I originally had my colors done in the mid-80's and was told that I was an autumn. Most recently had my colors done and was told that I was a cool Spring, which nobody on this planet has ever heard of. What I do know is that I look terrible in light colors and that soft, medium, muted colors harmonize best with my coloring. Thank you for making it that straight forward. Good job, Signe!
This was so good Signe, extremely well explained. I'm the same with my jewellery, and I will give my daughter my gold pieces, too. I am a winter, bright/clear. While I do have colours in my wardrobe from other palettes that I like, I mostly wear them away from my face. I know what colours make me look fit and well, while some others make me look ill/tired. Many thanks for your wonderful content ❤ from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you for this video!! Never could figure out if I was Winter or Autumn with the seasonal system of colour analysis, but the way you explained it I instantly knew I had Deep colouring. The colours you showed for that colour type I KNOW are the colours that look best on me. This video really brought clarity to me, thank you so much!
Thank you for bringing this up! I struggled SO MUCH to find my season before I realised I am nor warm neither cold! Now I am struggling to choose between deep and soft 😂 because my complection is not that contrasted but I think deeper colors make me look fresh 🙄🤔
Such a fantastic reminder and clarifying video. I have very high contrast between hair and skin and also absolutely cool undertones. And still contrasting looks are more important. If i just do cool colors i look ill.
Thank you for talking about how our colors may change when we let our hair go silver. Most videos I've watched haven't addressed that possibility. I have dark brown eyes, gold tones in my skin (I tan quickly), and my hair used to be a dark brown. Now my hair is almost a silvery blue in some lights. I really feel that some cool deep colors look good on me now. I wear both gold and silver jewelry and both look good. I've felt very confused but your video has helped to clarify things for me.
Thank you for this! I love the additional explanation on how the analysis can provide guidance, but still allows for flexibility. My undertone is not my strongest feature, so this method makes more sense for my styling.
Enjoyed this content! As a soft muted Summer, with greying hair, (medium ash brown) I tend to gravitate to the darker navy blues versus the muted grey blues. I feel sexy yet relaxed. Having lost 40 pounds, with 20-30 more to go, with your help, I am finding more of an authentic and slow style wardrobe. Thank you, Signe!
Very helpful thanks, I found out that I look best in a blush pink, baby blue and light beige... I kind of always knew that I look best in these colours. And I NEVER wear black, instead I use navy blue! Love your videos!😊
Congrats for making it easy to understand. I had come to this conclusion by myself after being typed as autumn. I had stopped wearing black but was craving for it. When wearing yellow and brick I felt too… joyful 😅 and then I realized my dark hair and dark eyes were my main feature and started to focus on the deeper side of my color palette. So thank you for all the explanation. And reminding the freedom to play around depending on the time of year, the style preferences, living in the city or the countryside…
Thanks for watching and for commenting! I’m so glad this made it more clear for you and good for you to follow your gut on it! That’s the most important thing ever when it comes to personal style 🙏🏼❤️
I was typed as an Autumn in my youth as my coloring was stronger (60 now) and in the 80s, the thinking was that, if you have dark green/hazel eyes, you could only be an Autumn or Winter, and I’m definitely warm. However, with subseasons and newer thinking, I was typed as a True Spring, which makes my peachy/light skin pop. I can still borrow some Autumn tones as I was also typed as Soft Warm Medium by another analyst, so who knows? I’m just having fun experimenting with the Spring tones, some of which really do look better on me than I ever thought they would. I’m keeping olive green from the Autumn and Soft Warm Medium palettes since it matches my eyes. These are tools, not rules, as you said.
I’m a man and I’ve just done this to myself and I think I’m a deep, I’ve got natural black hair which looks slightly brown under light and dark brown eyes. Thank you for this. I think I’m more silver then gold too.
Very interesting thanks. I knew I had a warm undertone, but i also knew i looked good in many light shades, even some cool ones, so this makes sense to me!
Hi, Signe. I am clear (dark hair, blue eyes, red skin) and muted (eyes and hair with grey undertone - I've always thought about them this way, my eyes can be grey if the sky is grey) at the same time. And high contrast. I wear black a lot. But need something contrasting down. Light colors just do not work next to my face. There is a type called shaded soft summer.
Interesting! I think if that approach works for you then that’s awesome 🙏🏼😊 I think it’s all about finding an approach that makes sense to you and your unique colouring (and needs of course) 🥰 from what I can see a “shaded soft summer” is what resembles the “soft” type in tonal analysis, maybe secondary deep if you have darker hair or deeper skin. Actually lots of my clients are in between clear and soft - you don’t need to have blonde hair to be a soft, you can have slightly darker hair too. But most importantly you are not as clear as a true clear, you are more, well soft in your appearance 😊 what I love about tonal analysis is that we have lots of flexibility to put together your colour keywords according to your dominant and secondary traits.
Great video! I have gone grey within the past three years, and now I am so bewildered. I still have black eyebrows, and in the Summer my skin becomes almost golden brown. So I feel like everything is clashing, since my tan seems to stay a long time. But some of your reference photos on cool made so much sense.
Color in terms of fashion is something I do try to hold awareness of. I tend to experiment with color more during spring and summer, and admittedly, it's not easy for me to find a good balance of what looks good on me for those seasons. I highly appreciate this video, Signe!
I’m an old lady who had her colors done back in the 1980s with BFAS ( no longer truly available). As one of the Spring seasons, I could wear all three metal tones - gold, silver, and copper ( probably rose gold for the current generation ).
I'm 67 and had my colors done in the 1980s as well. I was typed a spring. I'm getting mine redone in a few weeks because I'm now unsure that it's correct. It's fun to explore but not an exact science.
I haven’t finished this discussion but have noticed no mention of hair color. I now wear very different colors since letting my hair go gray. I’m amazed at the difference when I wear a knit cap. I’d like some mention of hair color effect in color analysis (and, if you have covered this, my apologies…I’m a big fan of yours!)
I do cover it when going through the colour types one by one, especially when talking through the cool type! Hair colour can be quite important and it can potentially push you out of your past colour palette if the change is significant. Happens to lots of people when they go grey in particular! We look at eyes, skin and hair colour all together in the analysis 😊🙏🏼
@@UseLess_dk Yes, I was very happy to see that you talked about those of us with gray hair! It does make a big change and I think my skin tone is changing too. I've always thought you were beautiful, so was amazed to see to see how colour analysis brought out more of your beauty. The greens and blues you wear are are so nice! And I love your hair in today's video with the softer curl look.
@@les0101syes you’re right for noticing slight change in skin tone too! Again, it happens to a lot of us as we age - our bodies don’t stay the same forever 🙏🏼❤️ also, thank you so much for your kind words I really appreciate that!!
I asked for one for my birthday this year and I’m so glad I did. I was struggling with the warm vs cool and none of the vein tests worked for me. Turns out I’m a spring, so warm, but my skin tone is neutral skewing slightly warm when it comes to foundation. Which is why I was struggling to decipher it myself. It’s a good starting point though finally knowing but also received a great lesson in colours and how to match them with different neutrals, beyond just black. ❤ But i agree as well, some contrast and staying away from muted or super pastel colours is better for me 😊
This was helpful, Ive spent soooo long trying to identify my undertone and it wasn’t making much sense. I don’t really like the colours for my skin undertone. I can also easily wear gold but silver is more striking. I have very clear features and have always gravitated to bright colours. So I think I’ll forget about undertone and think more about my clear bright features when looking at what colours work for me.
This was pretty helpful. I have been trying to identify my colour season… I can wear gold and silver equally, and confusingly when I look at my wrists, one has quite green veins and the other has blue. My coloring is similar to yours, but have teal green eyes, not blue. (But people assume they are blue…) Realising that they’re not as clear and striking as yours or others has made me look more at contrast. I’m obviously soft and neutral. Going to explore this world of colors now.
Do you have any tips for finding basics in your chroma/value/hue? I know you’ve mentioned the brand Colorful Standard and wondered if there are others that you’ve come across? Thank you for all of your thoughtful and thought-provoking content (loving the podcast!) :)
Interesting information. I have a cool undertone with a slightly yellow overtone and soft grey medium/dark olive eyes with amber specks, which often confused makeup salespeople in the past. They would use warm colors on my face, which looked awful on me. My hair color was a dark cool brown, it’s greying now. I think I’m a cool/soft/deep and medium to slightly deep colors work best. Charcoal grey is one of my best neutrals along with navy blue, soft white, and medium taupe. I think silver jewelry works best, but I can get away with delicate jewelry in light gold. I’m probably some type of summer, however, some soft summer colors look dull on me and others look good like soft peachy/pink.
This is very interesting and helpful. Thank you. I was a true summer in my youth. It was easy to use the seasonal palette in those years. In my 40s my hair darkened, and my skin thinned. I'm no longer cool but neutral and have higher contrast so it's been confusing to choose the right colors now. Once I saw a color analyst on TH-cam say that the important thing is how does a color make our face look when we hold it up to our chin. Did the dark shadows fade away do we look brighter and healthier? Does our face take center stage or does the color draw the attention instead. I've found this to be extremely helpful especially because I do a lot of thrifting and I try things on in the fitting room before I buy.
Thanks for watching and for your comment! Indeed, that’s a super good point 👌🏻 I refer to it as “harmony” in the video, so as you say - is the colour wearing you or are you wearing the colour? Lots of analysts will mention things like dark circles and shadows when you wear less “flattering” colours but these don’t always appear. The harmony bit though always appears so that’s always a super helpful way forward! 🙏🏼
I’m a dominantly Soft type, too, a Soft Summer in the seasonal analysis. Lighter, cooler to neutral tones (tones have a mixture of both white and black, or gray, added), and some tints, suit me best. I can wear some “Soft Autumn” colors, too, they don’t have to be as cool as the coolest Summer colors, because my overall characteristic is Soft, and my undertone is only slightly cool. I just avoid colors that are yellowish, like yellowish greens, orangey reds and all yellows, of course. White, or a Soft (slightly gray) White, is better on me than ivory and taupe is much better than camel beiges.
I love the colors of your taupe and light blue outfit. I have Soft, Cool, Medium to Light coloring, and along with white, these two are some of my favorite colors to wear, together, with white, or separately. I also love light, cool-toned greens and pinks. My Color Me Beautiful analysis 40 years ago was very useful, but I ended up dropping two hues, grays and purples. The grays don’t flatter me, I think, because I have dark gray circles under my eyes that can’t really be “concealed”, and the purples I just found very hard to find and style. For years, I followed the recommendation for silver-toned jewelry, too, but always longed for gold-tone versions. So, I switched to gold-tone jewelry, it doesn’t take up enough visual space to clash with my coloring and I think my undertone is only slightly on the cooler side of neutral anyway. I have both dark gray and some golden brown in my hazel eyes and my natural hair color is a fairly gold-toned bronde (my skin is super-pale). I think a pro color analysis is an excellent starting point for developing a loved, flattering personal color palette, but as you say, it shouldn’t be followed slavishly, “it’s not religion!”
I have blonde hair and green eyes and wear black and denim most of the time. I find that if I don't like a color visually, then I won't wear it. Keeping it simple. 😊
I thought I looked better in gold until I challenged myself to only wear silver for a month and then after the time when I placed gold up to my skin it seemed so harsh. I have similar coloring to yours. My most dominant trait is also Soft. It’s interesting.
Thanks for a great video. When I take a photo of myself and put a grey scale on, I see a fair amount of contrast. I feel that bright is my first quality, especially in grey scale. I am greyhaired with a fair amount of high and low lights naturally. I was born with brown hair but at times it was very blond, especially in the sun. My eyes are almost black, and my skin tone is quite fair. Does grey scale help someone assess their level of brightness?
This was incredibly helpful, Signe! The standard seasonal system has been so confusing for me. I have dark hair and eyes and pale skin, so identifying myself as a "deep" type was a no-brainer, but I also have an olive undertone, which makes the warm vs. cool question so hard to figure out. I think my skin does lean more cool than warm, but I have a lot of freckles and my hair and eyes both have warm tones in them, so neither deep autumn nor deep winter ever fit quite right. The winter palette had a bunch of shades that felt too icy and/or bright, and the autumn palette had a lot of shades that felt too yellow. I'm realizing now that the "deep" trait is by far my most important, so pretty much any dark color will work, and since the overall balance of my features is pretty neutral, lighter neutral colors will look most harmonious! 🤯And if I look at my closet and the colors I've naturally gravitated towards, it totally lines up. Thank you for explaining all of this in a way that I could finally wrap my mind around!
My veins are green sometimes and other times they are teal…i thought I was a winter but certain winter colors look terrible on me… I thought maybe I was deep autumn but idk bc of my skin tone. Ugh
I've specifically been wearing light, cool, bright colours. But now i'm sooo confused because i dont have a whole lot of contrast in my face. But i always didn't really 'feel' the soft colors on me. Maybe i should see with fresh eyes (:
I have always found this so confusing. I had dark auburn hair with black eyebrows and lashes (courtesy of my grandmother). Everyone said I was an autumn because of my hair but my skin is far from “golden”. I’m so freaking pale that I’m practically translucent. Printer paper white is an accurate description but I also have great deal of redness as every emotion shows by blushing bright red. In some lights my irises look black and in others like amber. Now I am going grey and have decided that grey, black, and white can go with anything so I will wear the colours I like.
Thanks Signe! Is it possible to embrace the neutral palette instead of choosing to lean warm or cool? I tend to look best in true middle-of-the-road colours (for example, a neutral pink blush - and my favourite metal is an older, weathered white gold which has become warmer over time).
For sure! Unless you’re a dominant cool or dominant warm, you’ll find lots of colours of neutral undertone in the other dominant palettes. So that’s also an option, and if you find those are the ones that work best then that’s also a very valid reason for wanting to choose them 🙏🏼🥰
I appreciate your response! I've identified my dominant traits as "soft" followed by "light," but I was a bit unsure about cool vs. warm, especially when it comes to blush. Your guidance has reassured me, and I'll happily continue embracing neutral colors with confidence. Thanks once again for the advice!
Hi Signe, I am a light skinned Asian. Have you found that we are harder to type and we tend to fall into more Neutral? I find it so hard to type myself!
And how to deal with dyed hair? My natural haircolor is ashen blond, I think. Not seen it in ages. I always gravitated towards reds and orange. The times where my hair was more blond people asked me if I was sick. So with my neutral haircolor I would be a 'soft', but with my dyed hair I would be a 'warm' I guess.
Yes, when you change hair colour many people will notice that the colours they wear will also look different. So potentially you can move from one palette to another when you change your hair drastically 😊
hi Signe, I have a quick question, is it possible to have a warm undertone for makeup (like powder or foundation) but overall looking better in the cool undertone clothes? or am I just tripping? ;)
I have warm skin undertone, blue/green eyes, and my hair is now white. Hate being identified as a season (or for that matter, a geometrical shape). I may be 70 but don't want to be put in any kind of box 😅
Each to their own! I think it's not as much being "boxed" as it's a tool to help give direction. But if you prefer a more free way of navigating then that's awesome!
Olive skin tone can fit under a variety of dominant palettes because it depends on the intensity between eyes, skin and hair colour. We assess your skin tone and undertone for sure but we also look at other factors. Therefore we can't just say all olive skin tones are under the same category 😊
It depends on the balance between your hair and eye colour, also the depth of your skin 😊 everyone has unique colouring regardless of the undertone in your skin. So we need to take more factors into account 🥰
I have very dark brown hair and fair skin, but my eyes are a greeney grey blue. They’re not a clear colour at all- and I know brights look a bit off on me. I tan and in the summer everything softens. Am I a dark? I am not sure as I don’t have the dark eyes! But I do have naturally dark eyebrows?!
Oh great question and observations! I had a client not long ago who had dark hair and dark green eyes, she wasn’t clear enough to pull of the clear palette so we went with deep instead. So it happens! And of course it all depends, I’d like to see you and analyse you properly of course to give you the most precise answer! ❤️🙏🏼 some people who have “mixed” or confusing characteristics find themselves better off with the soft palette.
Light is dominant for me, than leaning more soft than bright, then neutral or neutral-warm. How do I create a custom palette for myself? Do you customize palettes?
I do offer palettes through my different services yes 😊 but it depends if it’s virtual or in-person how far we can go. There’s a link to my website and services in the description box if you are interested! 🙏🏼
Thank you for this! After 20 years of trying to fit into one of the 12 sub seasons, this makes way more sense! My dominant trait is warm! But I need medium depth colors to harmonize w my olive green eyes, salmon colored lips and auburn hair. I seem to be able to wear muted and saturated colors equally well as long as they are medium value. For example intense medium red looks just as good as muted medium olive green. In your system what type would this be called?
My pleasure! It’s hard to say when I haven’t seen you to be fair, but your palette could easily be a warm/soft/deep combination from your description. But again, I’d need to see you to be absolutely sure - just want to say that’s it’s a possibility for sure! That’s what I love about tonal analysis, the flexibility to find your unique set of keywords 😍🙏🏼
Is it possible to have medium features in all categories? So neither light nor dark, somewhere in-between bright and soft, neutral undertone. Would that mean that there is no clear dominant feature?
It’s hard to say when I haven’t seen you! But many people who have “mixed” or confusing features find that the soft palettes (with the additional secondary palettes to tailor make further) works best in those cases. We talk a lot about how to wear colour according to your features too, so that’s a conversation we would also have. 😊 I doubt there’s nothing significant about your look at all; but it could be that the significant thing is all more blended together for sure. Hope that helps a little! ❤️ I’d advise a colour analysis to be sure though!
I've been wondering how an analysis can be done over a computer screen. It seems to me it would be distorted. I ask because I've always wanted to have one
I have written more about that on my website! You can find a link to my colour services in the description box under the video. For most of my clients I know what their dominant colour type is the second they walk through the door to my studio; so a lot of the analysis can be covered virtually but we may have some limitations. But as I said it’s all listed on my website! ❤️🙏🏼
A soft can have brown hair too so you definitely don’t have to be blonde. As long as your dominant trait is soft 😊 but of course, it’s always more precise to actually see you to analyse you properly ❤️🙏🏼
Took my awhile to understand I am true autumn. Many colors (pink, most shades of blue) look terrible on me. My wardrobe has lots of earth tones that most women avoid. Unfortunately with few exceptions, spring and summer clothes are the wrong color for me.
Depends on the balance between your eye colour and hair colour and how those harmonise with your skin 😊 everyone has unique traits regardless of your undertone ❤️
I do still like how gold looks on me too, because my skin is neutral and it’s also simply a matter of taste! Gold looks more luxe and silver is more fresh and brilliant 😊 I do prefer the slightly more cool-toned gold though rather than super orange and golden so that’s also a way forward if you like both or find yourself in between!
I don’t think I fall into any of those categories. I seem to have a feature from each. But I’m almost 60, so everything I was used to before, like what colors I look good in, is changing. 🤷♀️
@@kt1711 That pretty much describes me, too, but with graying hair. What is a girl to do?
Perfect example of this pseudo science LOL
@@ET76001yet here you are, on a pseudo science video, watching it.
Strangely enough, I’m a light, soft type but light soft colors make me fade away.
It just made me realise why I hate black on me, I'm light and muted and most likely a summer, maybe a light summer or soft summer.
That blusher is perfect on you! (I have cheekbone envy though 😆)
Soft and warm here according to your description 🙏. I feel my best wearing warm but with not much contrast.
I like to wear my gold jewelry in the winter to warm up my complexion and I find silver jewelry pops against a tan ❤
Super helpful. You allowed me to see in definitely soft! I need to hire your services soon!
So happy to hear that!! Thank you ❤️🙏🏼
Ah that makes it much easier to me to think about my color type! Thank you so much.
This approach and your explanation makes everything more clear than I've ever heard. Thank you for this video.
You look stunning in that light blue top! My colouring has changed as my hair has gotten more gray ( from deep to clear winter). Thanks so much for this valuable guide! ❤❤❤
We share the same dominant characteristics, Signe ❤ Soft and leaning more cool, but I get away with some warmth too.
Thank you!!
Thank you...I love your approach to colour analysis ❤
Very helpful thanks,
I found out that I look best in a blush pink, baby blue and light beige... I kind of always knew that I look best in these colours. And I NEVER wear black, instead I use navy blue! Love your videos!😊
Thank you for mentioning gray hair.
I have been waiting for this vlog. Excellent an eye opener. Thank you xx
I’ve noticed that I get compliments when I wear bright colors such as turquoise, and when I wear high-quality fabrics.
I also have a golden skin and now it's gone grey, it looks practically blue! So now I'm dyeing my hair, because I thought it looked very clashing.
You really do look lovely in your colours Signe😊😘
Love your shiny boots. Thank you for all the advice xx
This was really helpful, thank you Signe, I think I may have worked out that I'm in the clear category!
Hi Signe, loved this video - thank you. Also, I’ve just found your podcast ‘Sustain This’ which I’m really enjoying 😊
Thanks for helping me out today. I notice that black is not the best color for me as I have aged
@@UseLess_dk I like that word harmony, that makes sense to me.Thank you so much
Thank you so much your video made it a lot clearer what to think about to go into the right direction 😊
I have very similar coloring as you! Can you please share what makeup you like?? So glad I found your page for inspo!!

Great explanation. I find a lot of theories confusing but this made more sense.
I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for watching! ❤️
This makes so much sense! thank you Signe!
Such great reflections, thank you! And I so agree with you 🙏🏼 thanks for watching and for commenting, I appreciate it!
I have blonde hair and green eyes and wear black and denim most of the time. I find that if I don't like a color visually, then I won't wear it. Keeping it simple. 😊
Super helpful and fun to watch. Thanks so much for this breakdown!
Thanks so much for this, lots to think about!
You made it so easy to follow. Thanks
very interesting and helpful!
Thank you so much for that inspiring video!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I honestly loved the brighter pink ((in the comparison) on you too. What colors do you wear that are not necessarily your colors? :)
Do you by chance recall what nail polish you had on near the 7:38 mark? Thank you
I have always found this so confusing.
Hmm, I still am unsure as I typically wear silver but only because gold disappears on me, blends in too much.
Thnx for your soft cool styling inspo =)
Thankyou ! Great explanation and very helpful xxx
So potentially you can move from one palette to another when you change your hair drastically 😊
hi Signe, I have a quick question, is it possible to have a warm undertone for makeup (like powder or foundation) but overall looking better in the cool undertone clothes? or am I just tripping? ;)
The grey and the soft pink sweater/longsleeve ist so beautiful. Which brand is this from?
The grey sweater is from a brand called Residus, and the soft pink t-shirt is from Colorful Standard 😊
@@UseLess_dk thank you!
What was the pink blush you applied? Looked so nice!
That's RMS cream blush in colour "demure" ❤
What about olive skintones? Many analysts avoid/ignore deep olive skin tones.
Olive skin tone can fit under a variety of dominant palettes because it depends on the intensity between eyes, skin and hair colour. We assess your skin tone and undertone for sure but we also look at other factors. Therefore we can't just say all olive skin tones are under the same category 😊
Hey Signe, where do olive (light/medium olive) skin tones lie in this spectrum? Thanks! 🥰
It depends on the balance between your hair and eye colour, also the depth of your skin 😊 everyone has unique colouring regardless of the undertone in your skin. So we need to take more factors into account 🥰
It's definitely personal preference. I have all 3 types of gold for whichever phase I'm in at the time.
@@UseLess_dk hopefully I will be able to come to your studio sometime this year 🤩
I've been wondering how an analysis can be done over a computer screen.
Hi, is it possible to have big contrast and still be soft (darker hair, light skin)?
A soft can have brown hair too so you definitely don’t have to be blonde. As long as your dominant trait is soft 😊 but of course, it’s always more precise to actually see you to analyse you properly ❤️🙏🏼
@@UseLess_dk Thank you for your answer 🤗🌺❤
Took my awhile to understand I am true autumn. Many colors (pink, most shades of blue) look terrible on me. My wardrobe has lots of earth tones that most women avoid. Unfortunately with few exceptions, spring and summer clothes are the wrong color for me.
Where does a light skinned olive fit in? Blue eyes brown hair fair skin
Depends on the balance between your eye colour and hair colour and how those harmonise with your skin 😊 everyone has unique traits regardless of your undertone ❤️
A question: I've got freckles but I still think I'm cool. Is that even possible?
Hmm, I wouldn’t say no but I’d really need to see you to give a straight answer! We all have individual and unique features! 😊

Interesting… I thought gold jewelry looked really good on you when you strictly wore gold in the past!
@@UseLess_dk yes I was going to say you’re definitely neutral. I am neutral too 💚
I do think silver complements you just a bit more than gold.
I loved gold on Signe too 🥹
Then there is white gold. Unlike silver, it does not tarnish
To look at me, I’m clear. Yet the highest chroma colours are too bright for me. I’m starting to think I’m a summer.
I don’t think I fall into any of those categories. I seem to have a feature from each. But I’m almost 60, so everything I was used to before, like what colors I look good in, is changing. 🤷♀️
