Great, comprehensive video. Consider using fine-pointed tweezers to remove supports. You can grab them right at the end where they touch the model and pluck them off. Then you have less cleanup to do with the nippers. You don't end up with as much resin on your gloves, etc. because you aren't handling the model with your hands as much.
Great "getting started" video. Some tips: Don't mess around with the supports before cleaning. Just clean them with the model in the ultrasonic cleaner. Then remove the supports and only after this start curing with UV. I use chop sticks to move the contaminated Model from the paper towel into the ultrasonic cleaner. Doing so doesn't contaminate my gloves and I can use them more often - avoiding too much trash. When removing the model from the build plate put one edge of the build plate on the working surface (paper towel). Doing this gives less stress to the holding screw and providing readjusting and releveling of the build plate.
The amount of gloves and fuss he did was actually counterproductive from what I could see, and he never showed us using the toothbrush, so I'm not really sure at what stage he uses it. He also seems incredibly wasteful, he already has IPO, so why buy another product - a spray which contains IPA? Trying out the microfiber squares for the resin tank. How do you deal with the little fuzzies that it sheds? They generally have been getting into the corners and edges making them fun to deal with. They do clean and absorb great.
After I cut them, they do tend to get the fuzzies. Sometimes, I will run then through the wash once and dry them or at least rinse them with water and dry them.. That helps with the fuzz.

Let your prints soak in rubbing alcohol for 2-4 hours and the supports become super soft and you can pretty much break them right off the print without hurting the model, no snipping needed unless there are some decent supports on small tips of the print. I do it all the time and it made this portion of the proccess super quick, and wish wash in the alcohol as well after this, dry off and put in a curing chamber and your set!

Excellent, very helpful video, my Elegoo M. arrived today. How strong is the stink of the gray resin?, some people say it's harder than other colors. Translucent smell is not bad, not printed yet. I assume formulations are different for different colors.
It's not too bad at all. Make sure and shake the resin well. The smell will dissipate once the cover is on. Elegoo is one of the least smelliest resins with Anycubic resin being very strong in odor!
Any help would be appreciated. I have the Mars and I am having trouble printing a raspberry pi case. The case warps of the printbed, then when using supports to "cushion" the warpage the supports adhere beautifully with no warping but then the case warps off the supports. Printing with stock settings using Anycubic clear green, and tried elegoo black but with recommended settings for black resin.

Well, I managed to finish the test print on third try but not when I try to print another figure. oh well, I will figure it out. Any thoughts on the Mars 2 pro? I've been seeing bad things about the lcd screen getting scratched up very easily and can't be user replaced. I want a Mars but not sure if i should get the original, the pro, or the 2 pro. Thanks!
Great vid ,have a question I just bought the Elegoo Mars and the grey resin . Does the rain have a striking g I have to play with. Or just put in the resin And fire it up.
Hey man. Once again, awesome video. Im still printing on my Anycubic Photon ☺️ Quick question! Ive made a print, but it seems the tank ran out of resin. Is there anyway to fill the tank and go on with the print, or is it just a fail :)
If the tank ran completely dry, you're probably out of luck. If there is still a bit of resin in tank you can open the lid and 'carefully' add more resin to the tank while the print is going. Just be extremely careful you don't spill any outside of the vat onto the LCD...:)
Great vid, very helpful. Question: after you took the print out of the Ultrasonic, so you dry it off with something? or do just put straight under the UV light?
after some prints (4x) on my Elegoo with gray elegoo ressin my fep plastic in the vat is fogging up. Is there a way to clean this up After printing i always clean the vat first with IPA (Mean green is not available in Europe) and then with water.
Good question! From this chemical compatibility chart, it states that PTFE has a high resistance to alcohol which should mean that it should not damage the coating. www.calpaclab.com/teflon-ptfe-compatibility/#
Hi I have a question, how would you dispose of IPA and the paint strainer/contaminated tissues? I know for failed builds you take the parts out in the sun to cure and then you can throw them away
Yep.. I have not had any issues warming up the Mean Green. The thing I would do is that just the action of the ultrasonic pushes the heat up. I have had good luck at 30c as well. It really helps with support removal.
so i'm thinking about getting the mars pro to start my new adventure with 3D printing but i'm wondering can i make my own custom design and if so can i do it with the software that comes with the mars pro. i'm trying to build special tools for my fathers company but i want to know if its possible to create your own print.
I'm a former environmental scientist who likes to make things. This process is a nightmare. I found water washable resin so I don't need IPA, but I also need to create a procedure to reduce the waste. I think it's possible to reduce the waste down to one pair of gloves and some paper towles, but I still need to safely get rid of the uncured resin wash liquid...
@@evilparadigm I have bought this 3d printer and It's still in the box because I still didn't have found how I will manage to seal the waste to send them away to my city waste disposal area (the uncured epoxy resin residue) My workshop got an air extractor and I will use the printer with a good gaz and particle mask and non latex gloves but still, i'm afraid to use it.
@@tilleul6917 I'm using a pair of nitril garden gloves with a pair of disposable nitril gloves over those. (The back of the garden gloves are fabric, thus the nitril disposable over the garden gloves. As soon as I'm done I can pull the garden gloves off with the disposable one still attatched, then throw them in my home made uv light chamber to cure the resin and make them safer to keep using. This way I can keep using the nitril disposable gloves a few times (like 3-5 prints) instead of throwing away 2-3 pairs EVERY PRINT. I have my printer in an enclosure with a vac system that takes it out the window. I also reuse my wet paper towels a few time s and leave then in a metal pie pan with other dirty cleaning stuff until the paper towels are too dirty to use. Finally I also evaporate my rinsing water (once it's so milkey I can't clean parts anymore) in the sun in a metal cooking tray. I'm still refining my procedure, but I'm making WAY less garbage now and it's all pretty clean. I break supports of on a metal cookie sheet where I can rest my dirty tools. By using a cookie sheet I don't waste paper towels on a table or something.
Well, for the price of $250, I had to pick one up for testing purposes! :). I really like it. It's very simple to level and easy to use! The vats are interchangeable and they both print consistently. I do like the higher wattage lamp on the Mars and the 360 wrap around feature. It's very easy to get to to the prints. It's very quiet and there is very little to no smell since there is no vent fan to blow the fumes out in the room. I noticed that a lot of new users were getting this model, (some Photon users too! :). So I wanted to provide them with some insight into the machine. As for the ultrasonic. It's great! It's noisy, but it works really well in cleaning the prints.
Mean Green replaces IPA? to clean the printer, do I need IPA or can I use Mean Green, or just the window cleaner? Also, there's IPA 99 in Amazon, not IPA 91.. is 99 ok?
Hi I wasnt sure where to ask this but have you ever mixed resins to get a stronger print. I wanted to mix the siraya blue and elegoo grey but wasnt sure what I would have to adjust my settings to. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Yes! This is possible and encouraged to achieve stronger prints! What you could do far as settings is concerned is run the Photon Resin test with your mixture to get results on exposures.

How do you print such large files chitubox keeps giving me this error message saying file is too large and only part of the file can be displayed but I know its within the printable size of the printer. Can I still print the file or will only half of it print.
Thanks for your help I haven't been able to find the answer on the net.
It's a bug in Chitubox. I have gotten that error before and even though it only shows half the model, it should print full size.
@@3DPrintFarm Thanks for answering my question so fast I appreciate it. I've been avoiding printing things because of it this was a big help.
Excellent video. Oh how we long for the day of water soluble non toxic resins
No kidding! It will make a lot of folks rest easier!
Hey do I have to have a digital sonic cleaner? Or can I just use iPA?
Any thoughts on the Mars 2 pro? I've been seeing bad things about the lcd screen getting scratched up very easily and can't be user replaced. I want a Mars but not sure if i should get the original, the pro, or the 2 pro. Thanks!
Where do you drop the water used for prints?
Great vid ,have a question I just bought the Elegoo Mars and the grey resin .
Does the rain have a striking g I have to play with.
Or just put in the resin And fire it up.
Very helpful video. I can't believe how much paper towel you used though. 😂
Hey man. Once again, awesome video. Im still printing on my Anycubic Photon ☺️
Quick question!
@@3DPrintFarm My man! Thanks ☺️
Can you make model car parts? If so where or how do you get the files?
Do you clean the vat between prints?
Very good video, i learned lots thanks!
Great vid, very helpful. Question: after you took the print out of the Ultrasonic, so you dry it off with something? or do just put straight under the UV light?
Wouldn't it be easier to clean the figure with the supports first and then cut them off? That way you don't get your tools dirty?
after some prints (4x) on my Elegoo with gray elegoo ressin my fep plastic in the vat is fogging up. Is there a way to clean this up After printing i always clean the vat first with IPA (Mean green is not available in Europe) and then with water.
does IPA not damage the ptfe coating on the FEP?
Good question! From this chemical compatibility chart, it states that PTFE has a high resistance to alcohol which should mean that it should not damage the coating. www.calpaclab.com/teflon-ptfe-compatibility/#
Hi I have a question, how would you dispose of IPA and the paint strainer/contaminated tissues? I know for failed builds you take the parts out in the sun to cure and then you can throw them away
Do you know if you can use third party resins? for casting purpose.
Is the Mean Green safe to heat to 50F then?
Yep.. I have not had any issues warming up the Mean Green. The thing I would do is that just the action of the ultrasonic pushes the heat up. I have had good luck at 30c as well. It really helps with support removal.
The 3D printer that's linked in the description is sold out. Not sure if it'll be restocked. I'm guessing they will, just not sure.
so i'm thinking about getting the mars pro to start my new adventure with 3D printing but i'm wondering can i make my own custom design and if so can i do it with the software that comes with the mars pro. i'm trying to build special tools for my fathers company but i want to know if its possible to create your own print.
Hi! Please my electric power shut down and I don’t know how to restore my printing in the correct moment that were printing (Elegoo Mars)
I'm so close to pulling the trigger but jeez, it seems like a lot of work, mess and fuss to print the model and safely clean it!
Hi, nice video besides it isn´t with the Photon. ;-) Is this Mars better? The ultrasonic cleaner seems very interesting. Is is worth buying?
Yeah but how do you dispose of the contaminated simple green?
Mean Green replaces IPA? to clean the printer, do I need IPA or can I use Mean Green, or just the window cleaner? Also, there's IPA 99 in Amazon, not IPA 91.. is 99 ok?
Where did you get your pickle straining container?
the spatula - a "rubber" kitchen cake mix spatula will probbaly work pretty well for squeegeeing the resin (they have a nice handle and are CHEAP)
I need help, got my Eligoo mars this week, 6 failed test prints. Ive tried leveling my printer counless times. Im using eligoo grey resin.
Hey David. How is the print failing? Is it sticking to the FEP in the vat?
@@3DPrintFarm Yes, it sticks to build plate for the first layers and then drops off the plate midway in, or never sticks to the plate at all.
@@davidtrujillo3025 You might want to try increasing the bottom layer exposure time and increase the number of bottom layers to help the model "stick" better.
@@3DPrintFarm It was resin temperature, was trying to use in my garage, was slightly too cold. I now have accidentally put a small hole in pef film as well, ordered 5 new sheets. I got 3 prints to work before I realized I had a hole in pef.
@@davidtrujillo3025 Hang in there! It will all come together! You're doing great with the troubleshooting!
Thanks for all of your work and video sharing. I'm running my first print as I type (first 3D printer as well) and your tutorials and videos have been invaluable! Quick Question: I seem to remember that you were able to estimate the cost of a print in Chitubox. I entered the cost of the material in the settings. Where to I find how it estimates the cost of the print? Thank you in advance!
