Been using super smash orange exclusively for years, I use Gosen Micro Sheep as the crosses, 43 lb M 47 lb C. Works perfectly for me using Head prestige youtek mp
I was using kirschbaum super smash spiky back in 2002. Found it was the best for me at the time with my budget. Big banger was double the price and i was going through strigs every 5 days
Luxilon 4G on the mains and either Luxilon Element or Babolot Super Fine 17g on the crosses. Head Hawk Touch 16g on the mains and Babolot Super Fine 17g on the crosses. Head Sonic Pro 16g on mains and Forten Nylon 15g on crosses. Head Sonic Pro Edge on main&Head Hawk Touch on cross
Hawk and or Harry, this is a great video with super comments. It sounds like the original recommendation was Kirschbaum in the mains and Solinco in the crosses? What about switching Supersmash to crosses and Tour Bite to the mains? And I think I read 123/125 are the officially recommended sizes.
I might have the most niche hybird set up in existence. Tecnifibre Black Code in the main and Gosen Polylon in the cross. I decided to try it one day when I ran out of black code for the crosses.
Hey Harry - it was great meeting you at the USPTA conference as well!! Thanks for trying the poly-poly combo. Good call on the lower tension, as there is a bit of break-in time. Spin and tension hold is good but also, surprisingly, is the durability given how thin the gauge is for the set up. 16x19 pattern helps. Thanks for doing the review. Very cool. I hope others give it a try 🙂 and provide some feedback. Hawk
@@hameedn.b7004 tension maintenance is “good” but it does drop but I find that it breaks in very nicely over time. If you’re using a 100 sq inch frame or more you need to increase tension a bit. If 95/98 sq inch frame, 53# seems to work well but this is personal preference. I recommend going 2# above and below your normal tension setup to find the range you like best.
Hello Hawk, although he says Orange 1.25, the package he holds is 1.23. I can't find Orange in 1.25 so I assume that is for the Solinco 16L. Do you have any similar versions using a multi in the crosses to play softer but still retain some tension/playability? Understanding that I lose some spin potential?
@@rds4629 Hi you can get super smash in 1.23 or 1.28 so yes the Solinco tour bite Diamond rough most common gauge is in 1.25 (16L) but also comes in 1.30 and 1.20. I’d go with 1.25. For crosses, good options are Head Hawk Touch (softer), Head Hawk Rough, Luxilon Alu Power Rough (firm), and Tourna Big Hitter Silver (softer) - these all all great cross strings.
I returned playing after 5 years and had 2 racquets with super smash in it. Ppl told me to cut it off but i kept it and its been alright. I have no clue how tense is it right now but i am playing normaly haha. I also love the string and still have some remaining in my reel. I will try some of these hybrid combinations now just to know how they will feel
Enjoy your videos. Currently, I'm playing head speed MP with Luxilon Element 50 pound and enjoy this set up. To help my tennis elbow, I'm thinking hydrid setup natural gut and element. Can you recommend the setup and tension for this combo? Thanks.
Hey buddy. You are right im in my 30s. Most of my teenager career i used that yellow supersmash. I loved it. Now, i have a remaining old supersmash reel and will give a shot with this combination. Any multifilament you would recommend to go with the super smash? Thanks keep it up with the good work, cheers from brazil
Head Velocity is another option as multi in crossed. too. Then stringing crossed every 7-8h, and KSMO in Mains every 15-16h use use works perfectly, too. Multi starts fraying after 5-6 h use but you will detect to decide re-stringing based on your game, if flat-hitter or spinn-er stressing multifilaments Head Velocity.
@@TimTheMusicMan spin helps with control, you might try a hybrid set up with your poly tour with a rough cross string: Head Hawk rough, Solinco Diamond Rough, or Luxilon Alu Power Rough. 👍
@@TimTheMusicMan Fed uses gut in the mains and Luxilon Alu Power Rough in the crosses. This is a great combo…but it’s costly to use gut…tension goes and durability is a factor. But he can afford that set up 🙂
I tried it equal to less tension and it felt incredible

Hi! I'm actually considering that combo. How many hours of good tension do you have until you need to re-string? Cheers!
The family definitely saved this episode. Clutch.

Can please further elaborate your experience in tension maintenance with this set up ?

I always string my crosses 1/2 or 1 oz tighter than the main for more mains movement
Just got these super smash orange. I might try black widow in the cross?… maybe barbed wire. Def wanna try the diamond rough.
What's a Shtring?
I use Kirschbaum Super smash for a year now and doubt i will switch. Ive tried em all. And for the $$$. Its basically free

What are your thoughts if we did a hybrid of Kirschbaum Super Smash and Solinco Confidential.
I believe that’s a good combo, I just like the feel/responsiveness of the diamond rough over confidential but I do like confidential
Finally see you reviewing this German brand
Can you recommend a multi-multi combo?
This was awesome

Thanks for the advice on Confidential. I finally tried it, and it looks like it is my string.

I like tour bite mains and pure hurricane tour crosses
Vokl cyclone 52 mains/ solinco tour bite 48 cross my combo

You should try Hyper G Soft on mains and Head hawk touch on crosses
oh snap, solinco's the new kirschbaum...
Mabuhay!
Do you keep telling people Solinco is the new Kirschbaum because it costs more and is better marketed, or is it for a practical reason?
His name: Head Hawk...lol...😁😁
"don't mind it" "not bad"... Not exactly ringing endorsement
Exactly!!!
His "confidential" string choice must be killer
