You should really check out the Diablo 2 "mod" *Median XL*. -All characters "remade" with 30+ new skills each. Some of which require difficult challenges to unlock. -700+ new Uniques (Some are Super Unique and can only be found in Destruction uberlevels). -300+ new runewords -A bunch of new cube recipes that allow for a ton of item customizations/rerolls/etc -Like 30+ new "uberbosses". -The list goes on I played vanilla D2 to death and still went on to play MXL much more than vanilla after I discovered it. It's what Diablo 3 should have been + more. Just calling it a "mod" doesn't do it justice. The amount of content added is pretty insane. I loved Vanilla D2, but it's nothing compared to MXL. Should you try it, I recommend getting "Plugy - The Survival Kit" to go with it. It gives you an infinite stash that's shared between characters. And unless you are ridiculously hardcore, you'll want to have it for the insane collection of new items and resources.

I agree with you, but in the video he was not using the term "hardcore" in that context. He is stating he will be playing in the game mode "hardcore" where if you die, it is perma-death bye bye toon (and items) start over from scratch. If you play in "normal" mode you can die all you want and not lose your toon, just repair damage to your items.

I don't really think you understand the way kripp plays games. I feel him, I thrive for a hardcore experience, He enjoys trial and error. But todays games barely have enough trial and error to last a few days let alone weeks. I'm currently in this situation, and I'm dying for a game to give me a hardcore game with trial and error, as well as "motivation" to continue playing.
ladders haven't been the key feature that kept diablo 2 alive. diablo 2 was a game which kept itself alive by its own. you didn't need 1 quintillion dmg per hit to make the game interesting. you also didnt need super flashy effects and dozens of affixes from monsters filling up the whole screen whith lights and rays. the only thing you needed was a simple lvl 99 cap with a limited amount of skillpoints to spend for skills and stats and loottables with different kinds of interesting items for each individual monster in the game. i didnt have to fight an act boss for 10-20 minutes to eventually only receive some blues and yellows which i had to pick up to sell them or bring them to the smith. One meph run took me about a minute or two and i had a chance of getting pretty useful stuff for one of my chars or someone else i could trade with. in d3 i can farm for weeks and not get shit. and loot 2.0 doesn't change anything about it. more over, even if i find something nice i couldn't even care less since the items all are boring! and now they make things account bound and bring up even more random affixes on set items and uniques which imho is just ridiculous and has nothing to do with diablo.
Just so you know Kripp, I had given up on D3, played RoS beta and found it boring. Now Patch 2.0 comes out and guess what... the game is super fun. Maybe you'll be surprised!

Playing hardcore without ah will make it a lot more heartbreaking to die. I've gotten a new found love for D3 after I started D3 on hardcore again, ofc playing on the hardest difficulty I can even if I might not have the gear, but using 10 mins to get a leet pack down which can most likely combo me down any moment is so frigging fun.

I started playing for this patch, 1-2 weeks is about the threshold for me, with the droprate on gear so high and the lack of any challenge, progression or competition aspect there really is no point in playing longer. You can take a class from zero to hero in 1-2 weeks due to the massive drop rates now.

Well, 1. there are cheaper sites for buying games, 2. RMAH bought my copy of ROS, 3. It'll be fun for at least a couple of months, so money/time ratio is still quite good.

i don't know if ros is gonna be good , don't even know if i'll buy it but with the new loot system , removal of the auction house and the new legendaries the game became fun for me again. i just wish there was some kind of loot table as far as legendaries go so we could farm for specific builds we have planned instead of getting random drops from everything and adjusting our builds around what we get

Ladders won't help anyones experience with this game. I've leveled 3 HC characters since 2.0.1. The leveling experience is 99% identical with the same gear dropping for every one and everyone. At para 20-30, or about a short day into 60, everyone has 800+ allres, 35+ cc, and 1.300.000 TN. A few more days and shit's borderline maxed out. What the hell are people in a ladder system going to compete about over the course of x months? Paragon levels? MEGA YAWN. That said, I'm having fun with the game right now and looking forward to RoS, but i foresee that d3 will lose a whole bunch of players real quick.
I figure I'll get a few solid months of fun before I lose interest. But the devs have hinted at adding quite a bit of features over the course of RoS that you could consider "end-game content" (in particular, laddering) which could give it a nice boost in replayability. And hell, even if I only play for a solid month, that's still light years more then I'd get out a $60 game. It's about the experience. I only got 17 hours out of South Park: The Stick of Truth, and I'm not even mad about paying close to full price for it. So just have fun with it. Not every game needs to be competitive. And even though that's what Kripp generally enjoys playing; games where he can really master very finite details and strategies to find a competitive edge - don't take what he says about RoS as an absolute. Give it a shot, and decide for yourself. I've had great fun with the pre-RoS patch over the last couple weeks, and the experience will only improve with the actual RoS features. So I'm excited. I've always been a fan of you; watching your videos, your stream etc. but since you started playing Hearthstone you've become a lot more casual which in (once again) my opinion sucks. yeah kripp its worth playing dota 2, takes a little time to get into it, but its worth the challenge, its such a fun game, valve recently released a documentary about a dota tournament a couple of years back.

Play Dota if you're looking for a game that you'll never stop learning mechanics. I'm a lot like you, 26, played games forever, played competitively in quite a few of them. I was a complete noob to mobas, I played LoL for about 8 months before I got bored of how face value and predictable almost everything in that game becomes and tried out Dota. It is so painful for the first 50-100 matches as you try to get your bearings, but 2500 games later I'm still enjoying it, and still learning and mastering mechanics. Not a single game has lasted that long for me without hitting the skill ceiling, not warcraft 2, not starcraft, not WoW, not DAoC, not LoL, etc. etc. etc. But it can also be a very soul crushing game.

The only way this will be fun imo is starting a new character fresh with the new Loot 2.0 and the upgraded loot and seeing how good you can get your character to be. Farming these "farm zones" with your previous character and upgrading your gear will get old and boring within 2-3 days. I can still see you hitting a wall after you upgrade your gear and it taking days of gameplay to upgrade your upgraded gear. Than in the end we have diablo 3 grindfest all over again.
Yeah, lets all play Hearthstone arena for 7 months(most casual mode in a casual game) and then lets play heroes of the storm that is even more casual. Oh and add some south park.

i don't know if ros is gonna be good , don't even know if i'll buy it but with the new loot system , removal of the auction house and the new legendaries the game became fun for me again. i just wish there was some kind of loot table as far as legendaries go so we could farm for specific builds we have planned instead of getting random drops from everything and adjusting our builds around what we get

Much respect for kripp, subscriber to his stream, etc etc. But i have a few things here.... 1) He says that its an rpg for "funsies"... Umm... isn't that what all games are about?.. 2) i think he needs to be alot more optimistic about it going into the expansion or yeah, he's definitely going to get "bored" 3) .........
Ladders won't help anyones experience with this game.
I've leveled 3 HC characters since 2.0.1. The leveling experience is 99% identical with the same gear dropping for every one and everyone. At para 20-30, or about a short day into 60, everyone has 800+ allres, 35+ cc, and 1.300.000 TN. A few more days and shit's borderline maxed out.
What the hell are people in a ladder system going to compete about over the course of x months? Paragon levels? MEGA YAWN.
That said, I'm having fun with the game right now and looking forward to RoS,
but i foresee that d3 will lose a whole bunch of players real quick.
Modz and KingKongor are sad cause the real King, Kripparrian is coming back to stream D3 once again and take all the viewers from those scrubs

I figure I'll get a few solid months of fun before I lose interest. But the devs have hinted at adding quite a bit of features over the course of RoS that you could consider "end-game content" (in particular, laddering) which could give it a nice boost in replayability. And hell, even if I only play for a solid month, that's still light years more then I'd get out a $60 game. It's about the experience. I only got 17 hours out of South Park: The Stick of Truth, and I'm not even mad about paying close to full price for it.
So just have fun with it. Not every game needs to be competitive. And even though that's what Kripp generally enjoys playing; games where he can really master very finite details and strategies to find a competitive edge - don't take what he says about RoS as an absolute. Give it a shot, and decide for yourself. I've had great fun with the pre-RoS patch over the last couple weeks, and the experience will only improve with the actual RoS features. So I'm excited.

I am very disappointed in you Kripp. And I know my own opinion alone doesn't mean much at all to you, but I'm surely no the only one who feels this way. I've always been a fan of you; watching your videos, your stream etc. but since you started playing Hearthstone you've become a lot more casual which in (once again) my opinion sucks. Hope to see you back at Diablo, WoW, PoE etc. playing them games more hardcore!

yeah kripp its worth playing dota 2, takes a little time to get into it, but its worth the challenge, its such a fun game, valve recently released a documentary about a dota tournament a couple of years back.

I'm pretty sure the amount of time he spent on RPGs or w/e has a huuuuuge effect on how long he'll be enjoying this game. If I played the RoS beta everyday for 7+ hours I'd probably have the same opinion

I'm a lot like you, 26, played games forever, played competitively in quite a few of them.
I was a complete noob to mobas, I played LoL for about 8 months before I got bored of how face value and predictable almost everything in that game becomes and tried out Dota.
It is so painful for the first 50-100 matches as you try to get your bearings, but 2500 games later I'm still enjoying it, and still learning and mastering mechanics.
Not a single game has lasted that long for me without hitting the skill ceiling, not warcraft 2, not starcraft, not WoW, not DAoC, not LoL, etc. etc. etc.
But it can also be a very soul crushing game.

Am I the only one who thinks that the expansion will actually offer a better experience because there'll be less expection/hype about it?
The only way this will be fun imo is starting a new character fresh with the new Loot 2.0 and the upgraded loot and seeing how good you can get your character to be. Farming these "farm zones" with your previous character and upgrading your gear will get old and boring within 2-3 days. I can still see you hitting a wall after you upgrade your gear and it taking days of gameplay to upgrade your upgraded gear. Than in the end we have diablo 3 grindfest all over again.

Hearthstone, Southpark and heroes of the storm ARE casual games. They don't pretend they are anything more, unlike some ARPG that won't be named *cough* D3 *cough*.

Sorry, but I honestly can't take this opinion seriously given that he plays Hearthstone for 10+ hours straight a night--a game far more casual in design. Hate or love it, fine. But to call it so casual that it's not even worth being excited about doesn't mean really anything given what you've spent the majority of your streams doing the past 6 months.
Please, suggest a hardcore game for him to play that he hasn't already no-lifed.
Hes pretty much just waiting for games to come out at this point. And if you watched his previous videos hes anticipating a few games such as wildstar, wod etc.
D3, as well as Hearthstone in his eyes is just a time holder for him till the games he has his eyes on comes out.
Sadly, d3 isn't what he wanted it to be, so he doesn't want to waste his time on it. D3 has become a game where you beat, not grind.
Sean Nolan You missed the point. He said in a previous video that Hearthstone is in fact a game he enjoys playing endlessly, going as far to say that he has 'goals' in mind before he's done playing. Such as getting every class to level 50, all gold cards etc. That is what I based my comment on. A guy who puts as much time into Hearthstone along with that mindset (a game far more casual than D3), then calling D3 too casual for him to want to get into...makes little sense (to me). So I can't take his opinion serious in that regard.
I'm not calling D3 hardcore, or even a stellar game. It has many areas where it falls short. I'm simply pointing to a 'hardcore' Hearthstone player calling another game 'too casual' and calling that statement absurd.

No. This is not what people want to see. YOU do not want to see this. You want the end result, not the journey. The journey to "paragon 1000" is farming the same content, over and over, for weeks on end. It is NOT what we want to watch on stream.

Is pretty much the same game with different drop rates and no-AH. How or why people thinks this makes such a difference IDK. D3 is an arcade action game, not so much an ARPG, and now difficulty has been trivialized with a WoW'esque progression model of "omg stack diiiips".
It will be good for a bit, but is not a lasting title and never will be cause has been dumbed down too much and stripped of all the true RPG elements.
