    Awesome video! I´ve done the same tests over and over to that same conclusion, the numbers themselves are not conclusive, an all-damage gear is not necessarily better than a dot one, and vice-versa. My build is very similar, 50k attack power and 20mi hits, but with 30k life and only 7,5k armor with lots of DR, that´s enough for me. I´m investing now in +life and specially +barrier, since my damage is enough for now.

      I've made a few changes since the clip; like swapped in Temerity since I got a good one, added gloves with +3 Core since that also adds to Firewall (the one I use in this vid for the swap-in), and my two rings are the DoT versions now (you see one in this clip) as I added Inferno Cooldown Reduction to those (Inferno down to 23s now; will add affix to amulet to once I get a better one). Will also be swapping Glass Cannon to Devouring Blaze if/when I find one. And I will probably replace +mana-regen on helm with CDR, and replace movement on boots with mana-regen (don't want to but, I need to get back some mana regen if I drop it from rings and helm).
      Long story short, the build is still in-progress 😀

    I did some final update to the builds, shaco and some others. manage to get pit 73 but gosh it's insane how bad the damage is again. The problem is you have to stand still for at least 2 sec , 3 for aspect and gliphs kinda. You can't do this, you can't stack the damage by standing still and trust me i only have 17k Life but capped resistance, capped armor, A massive amount of universal dmg reduction + a massive amount of general dmg reduction. Still can't tank anything. Plus all the barries for like 34k like more or less. Im will try push at it's limit but i think incinerate will be fully dead by pit 80. Now i start some test with Flamescar too. Flamescar (no masterwork no grater affixes) gives almost the same damage as my rank 10 masterwork staff thanks to MASSIVE scaling with incinerate levels. Might try one last grind for it and see how it goes

      Yea I already flipped out the legendary pants for Temerity,. And since barriers are now up more often and being stationary for 3s is harder I swapped out Inner Calm for Conceited (if that’s the 25% while barrier one).
      1 Rank of Incinerate is currently 200k on the tooltip, so you could be right on its value in the setup. I will experiment with it if I get a better rolled one myself. There is also the benefit of more CDR and slight LH bump chance (though we aren’t actively using, it still helps a couple of procs like Firewalls)

      Oof. Well I found a +5 flamescar in my stash, and masterworked that and a focus to 4; close to where my staff was. It did not work out. Even though the tooltip was in a comparable place, the actual channel damage was about half. There is a big drop in INT, DoT, and Damage % stats when using the flamescar+focus it seems.

      ​@@kestononline I'm not sure flamescar levels can out match the flame thrower aspec on a staff. That multiplier plus all the stats are too good.

    All I want to know is incinerate a damage over time skill or should I just use damage affix instead? The game is terrible at explaining what things actually do and don't do..😅

      It’s really not such a big deal which path you go with. DoT may edge out from a bit more scaling from Burning Instinct, but as seen in this video the difference is huge enough to fret about.
      With Damage % you have the flexibility to change your build around and use the same gear for other setups. With DoT you might get slightly better damage but you’re locked into that setup/gear being for a DoT build.
      I even tested Crit Damage on gear, and if you have a lot of DoT the difference in either is not big. But you need stats to scale in the first place, so if your DoT pool is low, Crit Damage scales a lot less.

    Im new with sorcerer so i still dont get this. Its annoying because it never rolls "fire damage" its always literally everything else on the list. But it will roll "damage" alot easier, is this showing thay fire damage over time is the go to for this build?

      @@A42yearoldARAB Yes, if your Burning Instinct paragon node value is above +100%, then FIRE Damage Over Time will get the biggest scaling effect out of all the contributing types (Fire Damage, DoT/Fire DoT, Critical Strike Damage, Damage %, etc). +100% is x2.0 to your Burning pool. +115% is x2.15, etc. In a multiplicative calculation, the biggest increase to what you already have is what helps the most, and you get the largest lump amounts in the Fire Damage Over Time stat affixes (ie. burning).

      Warmth, the Sorc passive. Think I have +3 from the skill tree and another +2 on helm. It’s interacting with Temerity.

    Dmg % is better and easier to get

      Damage % is only better (x2.0 effect on DoT) before your Burning Instinct paragon gets to +100% (x2.0) and above. Then DoT starts to edge out as the % increase begins to scale higher than Damage %, and eventually the gap widens for larger numbers/amounts (eg. 45% increase to 112 Dmg vs 260 DoT affixes). Which is an extra 101% vs 251% respectively after their scaling.
      So if you’re not min-maxing much, Damage % keeps your gear a bit more flexible in case you want to use it for other builds etc. But if you’re going full-tilt into Incinerate, Damage % becomes the secondary priority.
      That extra DPS then makes it easier to put in some defensive options and stats without your damage being too gimped.
      I started off preferring Damage % also, but once I began having to drop some DPS/Topaz for Ruby Gems to help survival, every bit of potential damage gained/lost started to matter more.
