Sooner rather than later you’re going to have to dig round the wood supports and pour some concrete round them. If you don’t they will definitely rot within two or three years. Failing that I suppose you could try to build some stone or brick pillars to support the base when the posts fail-which they will. I’m confident you can do it though.
Hope they got that message. Always got to dig post holes and embed in concrete or here in the US we have the concrete pilings that sit on the ground and the pressure treated lumber posts get attached to those so it never has contact with the decaying damp of the earth.
The color should be Pale Yellow! I think you should name her “Rapunzel” in honor of your future wig business (which will take place in the garden studio, right?)
Ok guys, as many have said , those posts into the ground will rot very quickly, but you can save her! Dig 3-4 round holes spaced out equally, so they line up with the same on the other side. Maybe 1 to 2 feet deep and near to the sides, but enough space so you can work. Buy 8" ridged round pipe down your local farm shop, cut it up to fit holes, they would want to be about 4 inch proud of ground level but you will get caught at the back, so whatever you can do. As you get to the front, you will have the opposite problem, and they will be sticking out of the ground, but these can be hidden later. Fill these with concrete mix and flush of top with pipe, nice and level. Buy steels, you will need to check with expert about these for the correct loading, treat them, slide in underneath, and bolt down both sides onto your concrete pads. Use slate to pack slight gap between steel and base frame, hide concrete pads with flower boxes, made by Craig, job done! Calculations need to been done, and the job would need doing as soon as poss. I hope this helps and thanks as always for the giggles!
Love your new space! Congratulations! I beat stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2018. Finally, after 6 years of remission, I was given the cancer free status this summer! Even in my 30's I felt like I was too young to have it. I couldn't imagine having it a 17. Happy Cancer Free Anniversary!!!
I know its early in your wig business journey however, It would be such a good Idea to have a part of your business where one can pay to donate a wig to someone undergoing treatment who may not have the funds to get one of their own. That will give us a chance to support your business and help some one in need even if we don't want to purchase a wig for ourselves 🥰 Love the She Shed youve inspired me to manifest one of my own
just an idea Aimee, I'm guessing the wigs will be sold on a website of course but maybe from the get go, have a space on the website where people can buy wigs for other people that are in need of them that maybe they can't afford them etc. Or like a crowd fund for each person that your community build up a little pot so everyone chips in a quid and at the end of it, someone gets a wig :) just an idea
Cement the posts in or build concrete block supports to hold up the deck. Those wooden blocks are going to rot quickly in that damp earth. Also, mice are going to love burrowing into the insulation under the cabin and into the floor, but it won’t last long anyway because it has no moisture barrier. The corrugated wooden deck planks and stairs are going to be a nightmare to clean (probably should have been installed with the smooth surface on top). I hope this isn’t a spoiler for what’s going to happen in other buildings. On the other very positive side, I loved your life story and message, Aimee. I know a young man going through your type of cancer (and undergoing chemo and immunotherapy) and he’s beating it. He also got hung up on his hair loss, but it’s growing back (he has even gone to the barber😅). Thank you for your motivational message and your new wig line. It will mean a lot to a lot of people.❤
@@georgeattig8088 thought the same about the insulation and the posts. The decking should be okay if they take a pressure washer to it once or twice a year.
Yup. You guys needed to use Essex piling tubes, dig down, fill with concrete, add anchor. The pressure treated posts are going to rot. A 12" diameter 5' tube is £30
My sibling has cancer (they’re 43, which is way too young to have stage 4 cancer) and it’s been the most awful and stressful time the last six months, trying to figure out how to be and what to do and how to LIVE. For them, and for all of us who love them. Thank you for talking so openly and honestly about your journey. More than anything I want my sibling to be able to celebrate 16 years free from cancer but it’s most likely that they’ll live with it for the rest of their life. I love you guys. Please put concrete around those posts ❤
I am sobbing. I got to "today is the day, Aimee is 16 years free of cancer". Such a beautiful soul, it wasn't your time. Nor Craig's either with his broken neck. You two are wonderful, beautiful, barrels of fun people and I am soooo glad I found you a couple years ago. Call her "Elysian" which means heaven or paradise. Love and hugs
Aimee, I just want to say what a massive inspiration you are to me. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with lupus. One of the hardest parts for me was the massive hair loss.. I was so afraid that it wasn't going to stop. I was honestly surprised and confused how upsetting that uncertainty was for me--I don't know that anyone who hasn't gone through it can understand. Eventually, it all grew back after getting on meds to help contol my illness. This year, I experienced a major flare and am currently losing lots of hair again. I don't feel as scared this time, and have accepted that it may not grow back. A lot of that is due to self-work, but your strength is also a big part of my acceptance. Two years ago wigs felt like admitting defeat, but hearing about your journey and your relationship with wigs helps tremendously in my attitude about the uncertainty of my hair loss. I cannot thank you enough for being so open, brave, and resilient. You are empowering so many people, and it's a very beautiful thing. 💜💜
@@kingingit 🚩🚩I retired from the Airlines. We fly for FREE. I would like to make my wife dream come true and let her fly over to meet Aimee. So cool 😎 👍👍
You guys need a moisuture barrier attached to the bottom of the floor of the house. If you don't do the floor will rot out. Love your channel guys. ❤🧡💛💙💚💜
You Americans and your moisture barrier, you know it's mostly overused, a scam by the manufacturers, upheld by legislation. Scotland, cottage, shed, out building 😅 nah
It will be fine as long as its off the ground. I have a building like that built that way and it's 20 years old, no issues, more the issue would be the mice getting the floor insulation. But that insulation might be metal faced on both sides which would prevent mice.
was waiting for you to drop that you're kidding on the base on the hut. wood spikes will rott in 12 months and lateral movement will have it down on the ground in months. it cannot be wood direct on the ground. you need concrete bases blocks. really sorry guys but this isn't good. really love you guy's. I once did posts in concrete and those rotted where the water collected at the concrete. only option is concrete post base with U brackets and bolt wood onto that.
RoamingWildRosie did something similar for her deck, but all wood going into the ground was on a concrete base and the wood was painted in a tar to protect it from moisture.
@TheAtanyrate I painted my posts with tar into concrete. lasted 5 years. you need to mount them on U brackets above the ground if you want it to last any longer than that.
That whole building it relying on the sheer rating of the screws and bolts vs sitting on top of the posts and being connected. Plus there is zero option to adjust or level the building because Amiee is going to load it down causing settling as well. Is it just me or does it seem the deck boards were installed upside down with the groves to go down. Not sure how much snow they get but there should be 1/4 inch spacing between deck boards to allow for swelling and drainage in a wet area. Sealing the outside and maybe even a vapor barrier under the floor insulation. Overall just concerned it will not last or require some significant repairs before long.
Yeah we have one of those cabins, and our garden slopes, so we had to have it excavated and a concrete base laid, for the cabin to be built on. These cabins weigh a couple of tonnes, so need a decent foundation. Also, first thing we did was apply wood preserver, before painting anything. Love this channel, hope they can do some remedial work to make sure the cabin lasts a long long time.
Aimee hearing your cancer story and your personal journey was so inspiring. Being a two time cancer survivor I could empathize with you about loosing your hair. I worked in oncology for 12 years and at that time never quite understood the turmoil and head game of loosing your hair could do to a person until I went through it myself. You are so right nothing prepares you loosing your hair….ALL of your hair EVERYWHERE. I too would look in the mirror and be distraught because I didn’t know who that woman was staring back at me. Luckily I had great friends who helped me find a wig that totally matched my hair style and color. You are so right about your hair being your identity and femininity. My heart swelled seeing the excitement and enthusiasm you have about your dream of helping those who are walking that journey. Cancer gave you that passion and by remembering and celebrating your journey you have a heart to help young girls and women find themselves. I can’t wait to see that dream come to fruition. You and Craig truly live by your motto “Rule your own world”
The cabin is beautiful well done. Amy I’m so sorry about your cancer journey especially being so young, but congratulations on being 16 years cancer free. My big sister was diagnosed with brain cancer and tragically died 15 months later. She was so beautiful and I hate thinking about the way the cancer and medications changed how she looked, but she was so brave and courageous, I hate that I don’t have her in my life anymore. All the very best with your wig business x
Dear Kinging It. FIRSTLY, CONGRATULATIONS on your success of beating cancer and being so INNOVATED with your programs. My husband and I figure you both must be MILLIONARES to do what you show us on TH-cam. ALSO, I wanted to tell you that your wigs are BEAUTIFUL!! I was at a hospital waiting to get in for a blood test and a lady beside me starting to talk to me, saying she was there due to having cancer. The AMAZING counselling and treatments that were provided for her made her SO much more POSITIVE about living. She had a touque on with hair; then she removed her touque and her wig was attached to it. ALL I could think of was this wig connection was an AWESOME idea. Maybe while you're producing these wigs, POSSIBLY you could include a hat of some kind. PS...LOVE your show!!!
Due to my autism and sensory overload I had to cut of my beautiful long hair. Short hair gives me way less overstimulation, but damn... do I miss my long hair sometimes. Now, for the first time, I started to think about buying a long haired wig. Just for the moments when I am not overstimulated and want to feel like my old self again. Thank you for making me think outside the box. I know your wig line will be gorgeous. Can't wait to see them. And your ideas about the shed sound soooo cozy. I wish you all the best luck with setting up your company!!!
I am SO SO happy for your cancer-versary!! I can’t imagine being diagnosed at 17! I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 53 and I’ve been clear for 2.5 years! I lost my hair after my second chemo as well. Once it started coming out, I gathered my 3 college age kids and had them all shave a portion off and then let my husband finish the job. I was mortified but didn’t try a wig because I was always so hot. I keep it short now because it was super nice not doing hair for a year! God willing we will both be celebrating many years to come. Love, peace and prayers for you my friend!
I've never seen this base/ground work before, with just wood poles straight into the ground. Especially in a country like Scotland (not without humidity and rain) id assume these would be prone to rot and or setting/shifting a lot. Hope you guys take appropriate meassures to stabilize the building before any of that happens!
Yep, should be in postcrete. All my garden structures, fence and decking have posts in concrete. I felt awful watching Amy hammer those posts into mud, I knew it wouldnt last and feel bad at the amount of work theyll have to re do as those posts will rot quickly. i hope they see these comments and sort it out, I wish only the best for them.
Congratulations on your anniversary Aimee! You have inspired us for years, way back when you were in Queenstown and we couldn't help ourselves but buy you guys a box of goodies when you were there. Today, I still follow your channel and I have been through cancer twice, both in the year of 2021. First it was a pheochromocytoma, which landed me in ICU on life support in March of 2021, then in October 2021 I had a full hysterectomy as I had endometrial cancer. I have not done chemo, but I have spent the last three years recovering from the first surgery and the heart events and hemorrhaging the pheochromocytoma created. Thank you for the reminder to "rule your own world" because to be honest, I have had a form of PTSD and have struggled to get my life back...although I just completed a Master of Arts in Sociology. Thank you for being you!!!! Keep ruling your own world, you guys are legends!
Aimee this video came at a frightening time for me. It's been 6 years since my husband's initial diagnosis and treatment for bladder cancer. Up until about 2 months ago everything seemed fine. Life was not what it was but that was OK. Looks like the cancer metastasized and now we are waiting for test results and a liver biopsy is scheduled for next Friday. I am so happy you are healthy and happy. You do make a difference in my life. I love your attitude and style. Wishing you a long and happy life!
Aimee, you are a true legend. I am currently waiting on a diagnosis of a biopsy and it’s unnerving. You’re an inspiration to a 2nd generation American German-Scott 1/2 way across the globe. Thank you ☺️ ❤
Congratulations on 16 years being cancer free! I’m glad Craig makes sure to celebrate it as well. Shelia the she shed is my vote for a name! And she’s looking fab. Can’t wait to see how she looks once you’ve decorated her! When the builders come back maybe get them to look and see if you need to concrete in those support posts, and also have a chat about a drainage system for the back to increase their longevity. As for the wig business - I am sure that you will have great success. Maybe get in contact with cancer nurses in the countries you’ll be shipping too to let them know, as I’m sure they would love to have affordable options to recommend to their patients.
I don't wanna be that girl but the posts will rot in the ground. Id try and add extra braces and then dig out around the posts and concrete them. OR replace the posts with something that wont rot. LOVE YOU
Yes , @MaxandOccy just Build a deck & he used cement to secure the wood substructure. it seems easy to do. Also in the back could be better to put some gravel for the wood is no in contact with the ground, so the water can easily drain, to prevent mold & humidity on the wood. The cabin is Gorgeous, I wish it last for ever!💕🥰
On October 30th, I finished my last Radiation session on my Breast Cancer journey! Cheers to having many cancer free anniversaries from here on out. Cheers 🎉🎉🎉
So pumped for both of you! You're turning your dream home into reality, one project at a time-having a blast, picking up all kinds of DIY wisdom, and somehow dodging the stress like pros. You both absolutely deserve all the happiness, health, and success the universe has in store for you! Much love from So Cal. ♥
Aimee, you and Craig have shown the world what is possible when you put your mind to it. The garden cottage came out epic. Your cancer story is more epic. I’ve lost several loved ones to breast cancer and I have never got over it but listening to your story makes me smile!! Godspeed you two!
Congratulations on 16 year cancer free! So brave sharing your story and starting a wig company! I had a huge smile seeing Gary from Berry pop up! Great job everyone on making Aimee's dream cottage!!! "Aimee's retreat " 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
So glad you are here with us, Aimee!! I can’t imagine how difficult having cancer is for anyone let alone a 17 year old girl. I lost my mom and my nephew to cancer. It is a brutal disease. And now here you are beautiful and living your best life!! Craig… amazing job on the cabin especially the roof and the stairs!! You rock 🪨!! Until next time 🌴
I was diagnosed at 19 and hair was the scariest part for me too. I did the same thing with the bun and not brushing it! It’s so crazy to hear you had a similar experience. I love you Aimee❤❤
I totally love this! Not wanting to be that person but id be worried about the lifespan of the posts especially on a slope that will probably have water run off going through it and the weight of the cabin on the posts, Maybe a few dug out concrete plinths may have been better with the fixing brackets set into them would have been more sound. Great job tho going from a fat bird cafe to a near on chalet is some going!!
I was going to comment the same. Plus the wood posts will eventually rot. Perhaps some concrete blocks to help the foundation to keep you she shed in long and level standing. 😁🤗❤️
Yeah id also be concerned with how close the back of it is to the ground especially the back corner that was dug out that will end up letting damp and mould in also the lack of air gap back there. I would have put small gaps between the boards that are closing the sides in to to let air flow under. If the insulation was fitted and taped up right there will be no issue with draft but the air can flow under the building keeping the damp down a little. I love watching the vlogs but man theres going to be some expensive learning curves. Also id have moved into the cabin, installed a log burner and used it as home until the reno was done a bit more space to stretch out and relax after a days graft and be a bit warmer in the winter x
The joists/rim not on the posts even. All the weight is sitting on the screws and I bet they are not using structural screws if they have done the rest so badly
Thank you for sharing your journey Amy. I’m sure there are lots who will find comfort and encouragement through your words. And your She Shed is adorable!!
Hey Trev. I was 15 wen i was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. They found a tumor the size of a grapefruit lodged at the base of my brain. I started to lose my hair when I was having Radiotherapy and then lost it AGAIN 9 more times with Chemotherapy. I totally understand what you mean when you say that your hair defining you. Giving you confidence and identity. I remember the day my hair started coming out. I had been losing strands of hair on the pillow while sleeping but nothing prepares a 15 year olf girl for the moment you brush your hand and handfulls of hair come out in your brush. I cried when my mum had to shave my head. Its a loss that can only be understood my someone who has gone through it. The wigs gave me my confidence back. I loved how uplifting it was to slide one on and feel somewhat normal again. I was diagnosed on the 16th of November 2005 so tomorrow (I live in New Zealand) is my 19 year cancerversary. With radiotheraphy as well as Chemotherapy, and losing my hair soooo many times, you can imagine the damage it has done to my hair. 19 years later, my hair is super thin , bald in places and has absolutely no life to it without expensive products. Watchinng you over the years with all your wigs is inspiring and whats even more inspiring is your wig business. Making these available to people struggling with their hair journey where it may not be as easy as a government grant like I had as a teenager that got me 3 different wigs is amazing and I cant wait to see it take off!
You are a bright light! We really need more of you in this world, as someone from the US who is devastated that love lost here. Don't ever let anyone dim your light love! I am old enough to me your mama, but absolutely LOVE your videos! So very happy for you both.
Captain B -Your wig shop - you should try adding to the website the ability for someone who doesn’t need a wig to donate one to someone that does but simply can’t afford one! Pair of legends btw
So excited for your next venture with your wig line. I’m cancer free 5 yrs this year, and I hate my hair. I would love to rock wearing a wig. So proud of you Amiee.👍
Aimee, it was strangely refreshing to hear you talk with passion, yet in a calm manner, about such a personal and emotive subject. I think it's great that you are working on enhancing wig choices for those that need them and are going to be able to encourage others by demystifying some of the choices etc.
I love your journey, Aimee! I also had Hodgkins Lymphoma and was diagnosed when I was 13 years old, and losing my hair really took a toll on my mentality. My hair was one of my favorite things about myself and losing it really hit hard for my 13 year old self. I felt so weird not having hair and looking different from everyone else from school. It took me a while before I felt myself again and I am still working on it as my hair was never the same. I had attended a small group of women with cancer on how to use makeup and wigs to make your self feel confident. Even though I felt alone in that group as there was probably a 20+ age gap, I still had a small feeling of togetherness and that was where I had gotten a wig that made me look my old self. I am so happy with your journey and being so open about it. You truly inspire young women about perseverance through a tough time. I can't wait see what you do with your goals and your products!❤❤
My Nan just got the word she has cancer and no treatment will help amy you are a warrior and I would be lieing to say u have been giving me the strength to deal with this I may be crying as I watch this but u truly help others in ways u don't even know ❤🇨🇦
I love when you share your story and every time we get to learn a little bit more. I can’t express the LOVE I have received from this channel and I feel you ALL even (Gary from Bary) have contributed to me trying to be a better person in this world. Thank you! ❤😢😅😊
Hi Amy and Craig, I just love your videos and Amy, I love that you are your own person. You have such an amazing way of living life. My sister has just finished chemo and fingers crossed, she will stay cancer free. She also had nearly a year of chemo and like you, her beautiful blond hair was the thing she felt most when it fell out. Like you she loves her wigs and is just the best little sissy. You and Craig deserve every happiness in life and I think your Scottish haven is just perfect. I would call you little haven Hope Haven! ❤
The boards on the deck and the stairs are facing the wrong way, you want the grooves to face down. If you leave them facing up they will accumulate water and grow algae/become slippery/rot.
Like you Amie when my Daughter was diagnosed and started chemo her beautiful auburn long hair was her pride and joy she cried so much.unfortunatly she dident pull through and passed 22 years ago.she was 30.i love your shed by the way the style is just me.i bet you cannot wait to sit on that verandah and look at that stunning view.🤗🤗
I loved your video and the choice you made to share you cancer journey. Congratulations for being cancer free ❤️ You are just a beautiful person inside and out. Your wigs will bring joy and confidence to all who wear them. Thank your for making me smile ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful edition to your property! I am excited for you! And most of all Congratulations on being cancer free all these years! That is the best news ever!
You nearly had me in tears, I've suffered with alopecia since I was seven years old. I was quite lucky as I had quite thick long blonde hair. But in 2017 for reasons I don't know it virtually all fell out, and I had to wear a wig. Well, really, for my own confidence. And again I was really lucky as it grew back I'm nine months, but it came back white!! So I have the darker bits bleached. I really feel for women who lose the hair. Until you lose your own hair, you don't realize what women go through. You are an inspiration, full of fun and love. Thank you for being you. PS love watching you and Craig.
Heading into my 6th week of chemo radiotherapy and worried already about the results as couldn't go through this again!!!! Can't wait for the day I can say I'm cancer free ❤
Great video lads. Amy you said during the video that you wished you had the confidence you have now back when you were ill. Remember you are who you are today because of the experience you’ve gone through and you should be immensely provide of what you have achieved.
I think the door should be purple, not only is it the colour of the hodgkins lymphoma ribbon but also the heather on the moorlands of Scotland, which then leads me onto the name of Heather. 💜💜 You guys never fail to make me smile and I am LOVING this little part of your lives!
My best friend passed away from brain cancer Thursday morning. 😞 Cancer is a horrible thing for someone to go through. I'm grateful you kicked its ass and kicking ass at life. ❤ you two are wonderful.
I would've dug holes and secured the support beams into concrete, over time they may begin to sink into the ground and the cabin may end up shifting/sagging
Congrats on your garden studio, she’s a beauty. I think you should name her Dahlia, just like the wild flower considering it’s a garden studio. Thank you for sharing your cancer story (again) I was my mom’s caregiver, she was stag 4 non-curable so she only had 10 months but it was the best and worst 10 months of my life. It’s good to see that you can have fun, joke around when your or your loved one has cancer. I know it made my mom feel better and looked like it did for you too. Congratulations on 16 year’s remission ❤
Firstly I love your She Shack!!! And I can NOT wait to see what you do with the inside!!! Secondly, I lost my husband the day after Christmas to lung cancer. He was diagnosed on his birthday and then 2 weeks later ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks due to 3 aortic aneurisms. Once I got him home from that ordeal, which we almost lost him then, I had him another 2 and a half months. I took care of him until the end He had a port in his kung that I had to drain daily and a bed sore on his tail bone that he got laying in the same position for 3 weeks while in the hospital. Watching him wither away was a very hard thing as he was my soulmate. In the 15 years we were together we never fought once!! So I really appreciate you sharing your story with us all and Happy Cancerversary!!! And to anyone dealing with cancer or caring for someone who does just remember to show them daily how much you love them!!! Love you guys!!!
The boards on deck are wrong way up ,grooves are for air circulation , that way will have same affect as your post without concrete ! Water will sit and rot and you will get black mould lines in groves , best be turning them all up the othe way , smooth side up , cheers
The cabin looks so amazing. Congrats. I totally understand your cancer story. My husband had cancer when we were only 28 years old. He was totally bald, and our son was only 1.5 years old. Great advice for people that have people going through cancer, just be there and let them know you care. Keep up all the great work and living your best life
Thank you so much for sharing your cancer survivor journey with us. I always wondered about your wigs, your collection is beautiful and I thoroughly enjoy seeing how you style them. Can’t wait to see the products you produce and am even more excited to see what you do with your “she shanty”❤
Congratulations on building the garden house! It's beautiful and will bring you lots of joy! Keep the wigs coming!!! I've heard your cancer story several times and each time I'm so grateful you're here!!!! You're very inspiring💞! Can't wait till you start on your outdoor space - the plans look epic!!!!!!! ♥♥♥
This video was epic. Aimee & Craig - you have come so far and achieved so much. To see you build your dream cabin together and grow as a team, it was beautiful to watch. I think your wig line will be epic too. You will put so much love into it and it will certainly help a lot of people. And Craig, I can’t wait for you to crack on with more projects and get stuck in with rest of the house build.! Lots of love Georgie (from Worcestershire)❤
I’m a huge fan of your channel and love you guys. Been watching you since Covid. I love how Aimee told her story and I’m so glad you are starting a wig company. I’ve friends and family who went through cancer treatment and I’ve accompanied them to have their hair shaved. The hair dressers didn’t charge them to do it. I thought that was so sweet of them. I also helped them to pick out a suitable wig. And yes it was super expensive. So thank you for making the wigs affordable. You’re the best Aimee. Hats off to you.
My partner has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Currently going through Chemo now! 😢 love your videos guys, they bring me a sense of calm in the storm I'm currently in ❤
Im so happy for you, Aimee/Trevor. Your wig business will thrive, I feel it. You and Craig did a fantastic job. I'm so impressed! Can't wait to see it all done up! 🎉
I had Leukemia in2009-2011. I never wore a wig they were itchy. Shaving my head was an emotional experience for sure. So grateful you are cancer free. F Cancer!
Thank you for sharing. You are an a very amazing lady. I am a 22 year cancer survivor. You are to h e an amazing wig store. The cabin is top notch! So proud of you guys. Love all of your videos, been watching for several years now! Blessings to you both. From Waco, Texas.
I had hodgkin's lymphoma, i know how you felt.I too am cancer free now.... I didnt suffer as much as you did, but I did contract meningitis before they decide to start my chemotherapy, and had complications and I was put in a induced coma.... but I'm pleased to say I'm all good, and enjoying life.... I think my family suffered more than I did mentally.... me and my wife really enjoy your vlogs... thankyou ❤
Ovarian cancer survivor of 30 years here. Congratulations and keep on! Good luck on your Wig Business. I was fortunate that my health insurance covered my wig so Doctor wrote me a script for it. I went to a wig shop prior to losing my hair//had a hair cut to match the wig and so transitioned. My bestie did the buzz cut. I admit I had fun when I went back to work after 6 chemos shocking some when I would show what was growing under the wig. It came back ultra curly like a sheep. == Again, you are an Inspiration. Love you both!
25:57 This is my favorite part of the blog ❤❤ YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL MS AIMEE. BEST WAY TO PUT LIFE IN PERSPECTIVE ❤❤ Can't wait to see how it's going to finish with you ideas.
I can't see you in any space that isn't a light, cheery yellow color with bright red. pink and purple and blue all around.. happy. joyful , alive colors!!! Congrats!!!! You guys are building a dream!!
Aimee, I'm sure most of us love your wigs - it's delightful seeing all your different looks. That said, of course I wish that you had never had cancer - such a traumatic and frightening thing for someone so young at the time. Glad to see you doing so well. Keep doing what you do ❤
You are an amazing young woman and you got yourself a pretty great guy there. I love watching you two and the way you keep me smiling but you're not afraid to share the not so perfect parts of life. Keep keeping it real and keep kinging it. Love you both 🩷
Aimee, thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on your anniversary! My sister had non-hodgkin's lymphoma in her early 20s, and it started out in much the same way - with a lump in her chest and a cough. I just know if she had kicked cancer's a$$, she would be living her life all these years later with the same zeal and passion that you do (and maybe even rocking some wigs)! I miss her a lot but love success stories such as yours. Keep on loving life and making awesome videos with Craig.
Daisy Mae 💛🌼🐮💛. I think painting your precious cabin a buttercup yellow, with white trim, and green flower boxes under your windows, suits you just fine. I can see pretty vines painted around your window frames with lovely little butterflies flitting around🦋. I can also hear the charming sound of a cow bell clanging when you open and close your front door. Whatever you decide, sweet Amiee, will be the prettiest!! Much love from Ohio, USA!! 💜
Lads the decking boards (which you stand on) need the grooves on the “underside”. Google it. Especially where you are. The boards will warp if they’re not ribbed side down. The ribs are designed for airflow when the boards are soaked through - and that’s going to be really important where you are living.
Aimee, I LOVED the old shot of you with super short spikey bleach blond hair. You look gorgeous! AND that's a style that works well under all the beautiful wigs. BEAUTIFUL cabin. So delightful!❤
Thank you for sharing your cancer journey. I have been cancer free for 2 years now. ( colon cancer) I have to have a CT scan this month to check my right lung. I shaved my head during my chemo. Stayed positive throughout all of it. I absolutely love all of your wigs. You rock wearing them. Lots of love. 💕
The cabin is amazing, we don’t know much about building but can say it looks wanderful. You two are so inspiring to us. We hope to be like you in a few years time. Building our own house with happiness and joy around us. So happy you are cancer free for 16 years it’s incredible. It give so much hope to others going through challenges. We need to have a big binge on all your videos soon. All the best Chelsea and Mike
So far the best video you have done. The way you showed your excitement on building the shed without any knowledge on how to do it, but the determination never stopped you. What I liked the best was the way you talked to us about your experiences with cancer. It was so profound, you had me in tears. I was very happy to hear you have been cancer free for 16 years. The whole topic of cancer was well presented, it came from you (your heart) showing us what a good support team you had (family & friends). Now a days all we hear from the new generation is how to get to a solution the easy way, for example getting help from Better Help, whom they have license people to help, but they are still strangers. To me there is no better help than the one coming from your family and friends. They know you and will give you the best help you can get, and it is free. Keep up with the good work. I would like to suggest a color for the shed. Why not use the same motif as in Custard (the van), Green and White, then I would add the zodiac sign of cancer ♋and the word Free, or Wigs.
I’m currently battling stage 3 cancer. I watched tonight with my little girl and were both really moved by your story. You are inspiring and obviously fills me with hope when I hear survivor’s stories ❤. Your cabin is incredible, I would have given up at unloading the lorry 😂. I think she should be called Louella! Very excited for your wigs. I’m one month into 6 month course of chemo and my hair is coming out though not from my legs which I’d be quite excited about 😂
My niece just went through this illness at 10 years old last year. I can’t tell you how hopeful it make me to see a young woman survive and be thriving 16 years later. Thank you for the hope and strength and sunshine you spread, Amie!
Craig-The Life in Pines is a TH-cam tree house build worth a look Aimee-you're a wonderful and I wish you so much luck with your wig venture. Congratulations on on your 16 year cancerversary Aimee-amazing!xx
Alright guys, I NEED your help - WHAT SHALL WE CALL HER?! 🥳🥳
Star
Lorelei
Doris!
Bloom!
Katrina. Trina for short. ❤❤
Sooner rather than later you’re going to have to dig round the wood supports and pour some concrete round them. If you don’t they will definitely rot within two or three years. Failing that I suppose you could try to build some stone or brick pillars to support the base when the posts fail-which they will. I’m confident you can do it though.
My thoughts exactly.
True story. I put more post support in my garden fence. Most important bit in my opinion.
I like the name Cherry Blossom
The way the stairs was done was better but yeah defo concrete pillars with bedded in fixings. That would help with the rising damp too ;)
Hope they got that message.
Not a fan of the yellow, but absolutely LOVE the name suggestion!
I love the name too, clever 🎉 yellow is my favourite colour, it's a happy colour
Omg forget my idea this is it!
Pale pink
Words from my mouth ,good advice
Thanks, I'm amazed the supplier of the cabins suggested timber.
This! 🤙🏼
I don’t think the building has inspection at the end unless they put the cement in ASAP
Brilliant fix ❤
Love your new space! Congratulations!
I beat stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2018. Finally, after 6 years of remission, I was given the cancer free status this summer! Even in my 30's I felt like I was too young to have it. I couldn't imagine having it a 17. Happy Cancer Free Anniversary!!!
I’m a PA that works with lymphoma patients. How wonderful it is to hear you’re 16 years cancer free and living your dream. Congratulations Aimee! ❤️
I know its early in your wig business journey however, It would be such a good Idea to have a part of your business where one can pay to donate a wig to someone undergoing treatment who may not have the funds to get one of their own. That will give us a chance to support your business and help some one in need even if we don't want to purchase a wig for ourselves 🥰 Love the She Shed youve inspired me to manifest one of my own
Thanks for such a sweet thought ❤
Was thinking the same. A community pot that people can donate in to - to go towards a wig for someone. X
That is a great idea!
just an idea Aimee, I'm guessing the wigs will be sold on a website of course but maybe from the get go, have a space on the website where people can buy wigs for other people that are in need of them that maybe they can't afford them etc. Or like a crowd fund for each person that your community build up a little pot so everyone chips in a quid and at the end of it, someone gets a wig :) just an idea
Brilliant idea!
Exactly my thoughts! And I wanted to buy-a-wig-to-pay-it-forward. If that could be done it would be epic! Xxx
This is a wonderful idea
🎉🎉👍🙏🏻
Awesome idea! Maybe a 'keep the change' option at check out to round your purchase up to the nearest dollar so the change can be donated.
Carpenter’s daughter who lives up in Washington state USA. Those posts should be concrete. Maybe get some cement blocks to put around the posts??
Yup. You guys needed to use Essex piling tubes, dig down, fill with concrete, add anchor. The pressure treated posts are going to rot. A 12" diameter 5' tube is £30
Those post are going to rot and sink 😮
Im in NZ and was thinking…how stable is it and also wont the posts rot? Do theyneed to do drainage around the posts too?
Agreed!! That'll start rotting immediately with the rain you get there!
The nomadic movement just did it for their cabin in vt

That’s what I thought!
I'm so very sorry about your sister...thank you for sharing ❤
That's what I thought. "How long will that last without concrete?" I'd get Eamon over there stat!
Having just replaced our wooden garden fence here in the south of England, I was immediately thinking the same: that’s gonna rot!
BTW, it is lovely. You guys are wonderful. 💛💛
Like everyone else, I just don't want to see it damaged in less than a year.
I'm so GRATEFUL that your strong spirit beat cancer because this world needs more beautiful people like you. You're AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!💘😘
LOVE YOU
I was thinking the same thing. 🫤
Definitely 👍🏻 they need to be encased in cement.
I think they're also gonna wander around ...oh well , Good time not long time ? ❤
@@samporter2146That depends on how much the ground freezes there. In Wisconsin, we have to dig down 4 ft. (1.2 meters).
Yes ,
@MaxandOccy just Build a deck & he used cement to secure the wood substructure.
it seems easy to do.
Also in the back could be better to put some gravel for the wood is no in contact with the ground, so the water can easily drain,
to prevent mold & humidity on the wood.
The cabin is Gorgeous, I wish it last for ever!💕🥰
On October 30th, I finished my last Radiation session on my Breast Cancer journey! Cheers to having many cancer free anniversaries from here on out. Cheers 🎉🎉🎉
Congrats hope you have the best life ever!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🍾🍾👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻😃😃
Well done for getting there. May you now be cancer free for a long happy healthy life. 🤸♂️
Ahh thanks so much! This is such a spot on comment! We really are doing all those things 🥹🌺
This was by far my favorite video you’ve done. Your message was very inspiring.
Thank you for reliving your cancer story for us. You live in my heart for your ability to share so we can understand how fabulous you truly are
Thank you for sharing your journey Amy.
The shed looks amazing. I can’t think of a better ambassador for wigs than Aimee. Best wishes on the new venture.
❤❤❤
Thanks for being the light I need during this scary time in America. I truly needed this today❤
This! Flip the boards over!! Plus they’ll hurt your feet and hard to keep clean.
You guys have so much courage to take on Amy’s workshop build with no experience. Kudos to you!!!
Oh wait! You got Gary!!!! Woot Woot!
Sending love and good thoughts your way!
Healing in Jesus name, Amen! I lost my mom to cancer and I'm standing.
@ amen 🙏
Great video lads. Amy you said during the video that you wished you had the confidence you have now back when you were ill. Remember you are who you are today because of the experience you’ve gone through and you should be immensely provide of what you have achieved.
CONGRATS ON 16 YEARS CANCER FREE !!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Plus , Craig !! You ( and the team ) just ROCKED it !!
I think the door should be purple, not only is it the colour of the hodgkins lymphoma ribbon but also the heather on the moorlands of Scotland, which then leads me onto the name of Heather. 💜💜
You guys never fail to make me smile and I am LOVING this little part of your lives!
My best friend passed away from brain cancer Thursday morning. 😞 Cancer is a horrible thing for someone to go through. I'm grateful you kicked its ass and kicking ass at life. ❤
you two are wonderful.
I am so sorry for your loss!! 🤍
Keep up all the great work and living your best life
It makes me so happy to see you smile so much!
Aila means light from the green meadow, which is what your wig line will definitely bring to so many! I can't wait to shop!!! ❤
I think my family suffered more than I did mentally.... me and my wife really enjoy your vlogs... thankyou ❤
Thankyou for your share...Wonderful ,so glad you're well...Enjoy a long,healthy, happy life 🙂💕
Ovarian cancer survivor of 30 years here.
Girl! I cried, she turned out so beautiful 🤩
Sounds bloody awful !! ...sorry
Also my TH-camrs would’ve made this like an 8 part video! So we appreciate you and I think that means there’s great Reno videos coming each week!
Hate anything longer than 40 mins
The cabin is amazing, we don’t know much about building but can say it looks wanderful.
You two are so inspiring to us. We hope to be like you in a few years time. Building our own house with happiness and joy around us.
So happy you are cancer free for 16 years it’s incredible. It give so much hope to others going through challenges.
We need to have a big binge on all your videos soon.
All the best Chelsea and Mike
Loved the story telling throughout this 🫶🏼
So far the best video you have done.
I’m one month into 6 month course of chemo and my hair is coming out though not from my legs which I’d be quite excited about 😂
Great video guys! Love how you talk about wigs Aimee. And your story about living life to the fullest is so precious!
Will the posts that are in the ground, rot and then sink? The build looks brilliant.
Haha I hope not! 😆 legendary question
Yes they will 😭
Unfortunately they will rot, you should have charred the wood or if it were me- done concrete footings.
I'm no expert but surely you should of used Postcrete or something similar. Post are gonna sink and rot, hope I'm wrong, love you guys❤
@@stevehoward7718 This is exactly what they should have done
Oh Aimee! You're an absolute Angel! And look at Craig making things happen!
Treehouse Masters is an epic show with Pete Nelson whose an absolute genius at designing and making treehouses
The BEST
Tree House Masters do amazing work!!
I third Pete Nelson. the best!!!
My niece just went through this illness at 10 years old last year. I can’t tell you how hopeful it make me to see a young woman survive and be thriving 16 years later. Thank you for the hope and strength and sunshine you spread, Amie!
Highly recommend Osmo products as oppose to ‘paint’, really good stuff and your amazing studio will last even longer!
I love the story intertwined with the build! Brought tears to my eyes.
Craig-The Life in Pines is a TH-cam tree house build worth a look
Aimee-you're a wonderful and I wish you so much luck with your wig venture.
Congratulations on on your 16 year cancerversary Aimee-amazing!xx
