🇳🇿 My attempt at climbing a volcano | MOUNT TARANAKI | New Zealand

  • All my life I have been curious about what it would be like to climb the majestic volcano of Mount Taranaki. Not exactly the right season for climbing just yet, I thought I would see how far I could get as a novice mountaineering enthusiast.
This was the first video of many as I make my way to the northern most tip of the North Island of New Zealand.

Thank you so much for sending out the responsible message, mountains are not to be messed with. It looked scary the nearer you got to the summit and two experienced climbers lost their lives in May 2021 on there. I did the Ben Lomond in Queenstown in snow and got to the saddle and turned around as felt unsafe attempting the summit in snow and icy conditions.

Hey Cassie thanks for watching. I was beyond devastated when I heard the recent news about the two experienced climbers who had passed away up Taranaki. I remember wanting to push on and summit Taranaki but had heard of the tragic stories and knew better not to. I had planned on returning but I injured my knee a month after. Maybe one day :)
Glad to hear you knew your limits on the Ben Lomond track - it just isn’t worth the risk in subzero conditions. Stay safe 😃

So happy to see you getting out and posting again! I also have Mexican stuff in my car.. Just need those reminders to get me heading back soon. The mountain trek looked very Beautiful.. I always drink a lot of water when Hiking, so my biggest challenge is Packing in enough water. After checking out those volcanic rocks I would say a basic First Aid kit also Not a bad idea! Even some good elastic and a bendable support incase of break or sprain... I did break my ankle once :( Anyways... Great job! I really loved looking at the colored stones in the area where you found the spider, I would be picking those up for further examination Geology is so fascinating!! Keep up the great work!!! Thanks so much for the message! Apologies for the giant stall of videos. Post travel blues and a mistake return to my previous job slowed me down but I am free again now after finishing up and focusing full time on travel vlogging :)
I’m such a nerd and took a small rock of every colour with me for momentos. I love rocks - will have to do a video when I return to my hometown of the pyramid I made down at the river a decade ago. It’s still there to this day!!
Next time 100% I’ll have everything I need including a bigger bag, first aid kit and more food / water. When you broke your ankle were you remotely on a mountain trail? Sounds painful!!
Oh the Mexican decorations in my car help me sleep at night. I can pretend I never left with them around me 😅😍. Do you know when you will be down these next? I hope to be there within the next 6 months - year :)

@@FinnDelMundoTravel Looking forward to seeing your pyramid! I am crazy about rocks,, I get that from my dad. It just so happened when I learned about mushrooming, I was telling my dad and he quickly said "let's go" So I took him to a rather remote, and steep mountain, which was a bad idea because he was only 1 year post "heart attack" .. we were excited to head down a very steep area in the forest when I decided to jump like a deer. LOL I landed on branches that broke through along with my ankle... but I didn't know it was fractured... My dad helped me back up the mountain and later as the swelling went down and Pain came then I went to the doctor for X-rays... Sorry that was a long story! :D
