    This is the first time I've ever seen a review that actually talked about a ball and didn't just show me someone throw it, well done!

    Do you believe the Drive would be a great compliment to the Code X? I absolutely love the Code X and feel it is my current benchmark ball but would love to add something a little more aggressive for sport shots.

    Hi, Luke. I’m looking for a new ball to go with my current arsenal. Right now, I have intense, phaze 2, timeless and IQ tour. Of all the new releases, which one do you think should fit in my current ones. I’m two-hander with 15-16 speed and 350-400 rev rate. I’ m considering dual purpose, for a house shot and sports shot. Soniq, Drive, Hyroad Nano, Idol and Code X. Thanks!

      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Son!Q for me is just a must have ball, would definitely vote for that one, and although it's strong, the Idol kind of fits in that category too. The others aren't bad by any means, these two are just like next level good though, both are great shapes for big rev games.

    I purchased the Drive last week and I have the Timeless as well and I found my Drive to be more snappier than my timeless as well as more hitting power and btw I'm a 2 hander with about a 550 rev rate

    So Luke what about for medium light THS do you think that the drive might work for the fresh or maybe adjusting the surface to 4000 or polish might do the trick to stay longer with it, so it can be use on THS. I am a 2 hander bowler also got the timeless which for me is a beast after the lanes breakdown not for fresh.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're going to use it on a house shot at all, definitely recommend at least going to 4000, the box surface is really chewy, very unnecessary on a house shot unless you bowl on a flood and need the help burning in a track. Drive is definitely a fresh shot ball.

    • @lokoi2171

      Luke Rosdahl thank you very much for these honest reviews that are not based on marketing, I will give it a try cuz a need something for the fresh to complement the timeless when the lanes start to break once again thanks for your reviews and for answering my questions.

    Compare and Contrast this ball and the Hyroad Nano? Where would you be using the two differently?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travis Knox Nano is longer and sharper, Drive is a lot smoother. I’d use the Drive on really sharp backends to tame them down, would use Nano when I wanted more aggression on the backend, their hook potentials are pretty similar

    Awesome video! I've been doing normal lane bowling and using bowling alley balls for a long time. I usually score around 130-165 as an average and I do put some spin on the average bowling alley ball. I'm looking to get a bowling ball and if I'm going to buy one I was considering buying one that I can learn to hook well with and learn to bowl better.
    Should I get the Storm Drive? Would it help me achieve those goals? I play a 12 lbs ball.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Probably a better ball to start with would be the original Hyroad. It's going to give you the maximum amount of forgiveness and help you get used to a hooking ball, the Drive is more of a step or two up from that.

    • @Ethaeos
      @Ethaeos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Rosdahl - What do you mean by a step or two above it? What is the difference between the Hyroad and the Drive?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bowling balls are kind of like golf clubs, some clubs hit the ball lower and further, and some hit it higher and shorter, bowling balls all hook different amounts and some are really smooth and even, while some go down there further and turn sharply. The Hyroad is a lot more user friendly so to speak, while the Drive I would say is going to be best for more experienced or skilled bowlers. The Drive is more aggressive but smoother than the Hyroad, I actually show the Hyroad in this video if you go back and watch again so you can see the difference.

    It looks like a ball aimed at controlling the rip off the spot for big hands or hot backends.
    I have not thrown it, so who knows, it could maybe be a condition ball for flatter patterns?
    I'm curious to see it..... I remember the Fight being the same kind of ball and that was a POS for me.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Hayden Yeah thats how I see it, that’s what I thought I said here at least lol. For me this is better than the Fight, but my Fight was a lefty ball so not sure

    • @Jason_P

      But the Fight smells SOOOO GOOOOOD.

  • @dankrash5771
    @dankrash5771 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so the drive is just a touch more aggressive then the hyroad nano? which one is better on a house shot?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neither? Lol . . the Hyroad Nano is probably the better house ball, I can still think of better looks than that, but yes, the Drive is a few boards stronger than the Hyroad Nano, but is smoother also, so depending on your conditions, it could look weaker just because it doesn't pop on the backend.

  • @skylerolson3348

    Can you post a picture of the layout on the ball? Is it pin up or pin down?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't do layout pictures, can be confusing if you don't have the necessary information. If you throw the ball differently than I do and just drill your fingers in the same place mine are, the reaction could be different, so getting your positive axis point measured and then going off the layout numbers I give in the video is the best way to do it!! This ends up being pin up for me though.

    How does this fit in with 2 of your favorite every day balls, the original Hyroad and the Code Red. Could you compare them? Those are the two I really need context compared to.
    Thanks in advance for your time!

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      T J Shapes are really similar actually, and it’s closer to the Hyroad than the Code Red, but really smooth and continuous. It’s actually pretty good believe it or not

  • @defupa
    @defupa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How will it shape compared to my !Q Tour I’m young two hander 15 mph 450 revs stronger, different shape? As long as it’s not as strong as the sure lock I’m getting this ball plz help me

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's definitely not as strong as the Sure Lock. It's actually not even as much shape as the IQ Tour, it hooks a decent amount but it spreads it out so it's not super jumpy. Everything is going to backend for a two hander, but this one will be more controllable than a lot of other stuff out there, I think you'll like it.

    As always thanks Luke for all the work you do with the videos and I must say I have never looked forward to a ball release any less than this ball. And from your video it confirmed my initial thoughts, I am still not interested.....

      It's not for everybody, but that was never the intent, so yeah, just may not be your type of ball and that's ok!

    How does it compare to the Phaze II? I have the Marvel Pearl been looking at the Drive & Phaze II would they be a step-up from the Marvel Pearl? Thanks best ball reviews channel.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not quite as rolly and is a bit smoother on the backend than the Phaze 2, but the hook potentials are very similar. Phaze 2 just shapes up a little firmer at the breakpoint. Both are a step up from the Marvel Pearl. I'd say if you have a lower rev rate, go Phaze 2, if it's a bit higher, go Drive.

    • @DavidMartinez-zj4ro
      @DavidMartinez-zj4ro 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot you told me to get the Marvel Pearl in a video you have man i love that ball so i take your advice again. Thanks Luke.

    • @Jason_P
      @Jason_P 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just got a Drive and Luke's assessment is spot-on. The Phaze II is really firm when it makes its move. I have a fair amount of (left) hand, so for me the Phaze II needs a lot of oil. The Drive is much smoother and more usable on a medium pattern. I used it for the first time in league last night and shot a sloppy 662. If I had been sharper it would have been a killer series, but as it was the Drive really worked for the first two games (switched to Hustle Ink for the third).

  • @benchristians3n

    How does this ball react during transition and shorter patterns? I'm a two hander and I'm going to Junior Gold this year, so I'm trying to figure out how I should attack the transition and short patterns

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very smooth, so it might be something that could help on the shorter or heavier volume patterns. Control on the short, traction on the wet. I think it would be a good choice!

  • @jysl2506
    @jysl2506 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the Drive or Soniq hook more, and what ball would you say is a better bench mark ball? Between Marvel Pearl, Drive, or Soniq?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marvel Pearl is the best benchmark ball pretty easily. Son!Q needs a lot of oil, Drive needs some conditions. Son!Q actually outhooks the Drive in my opinion by 2-3 boards.

    • @jysl2506
      @jysl2506 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll be getting the marvel pearl.

    I'm tossing between this and the timeless SE which would you say is a more consistent ball overall?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really know, I think the Timeless SE has the Marvel Pearl cover on it, so might go that direction.

    • @jokerface20
      @jokerface20 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LukeRosdahl I tried the timeless SE from a friend yesterday and it has the best reaction I've ever got out out of a ball, I tried about 10 shots with it. I have a friend that has a drive aswell so might try but he says it really isn't that consistent so might be heading in the timeless direction as you said.

  • @Dying12Wish
    @Dying12Wish 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So would you say the drive is NOT a good ball for lower rev rate on THS??

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really, both it and the Timeless were designed for higher rev players, so there's plenty of better balls out there for lower rev rates.

    The Drive is a beautiful ball

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually looks better in person than the stock photo would lead you to believe, the yellow really pops on it.

  • @RRBuilder611
    @RRBuilder611 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My friend got it and he is completely confused about what it does down lane. One throw, hooks back fine and perfect strike. Next throw, pretty much if not the exact same shot, floats down lane and doesn’t react at all. Help?!?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Virginian It’s the core, doesn’t rev much and is pretty smooth, so what that tells me is he’s probably not playing the lanes right, expecting the ball to do too much, so when he misses a little, big difference in ball reaction.

    • @RRBuilder611
      @RRBuilder611 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Rosdahl would it help to slow ball speed down? My brother sometimes uses his ball and he has the same rev rate but slower speed and gets a perfect reaction every time. The funny thing is when I tell my friend to slow it down a tad he shaves off like 5mph which is way too much and then he complains to me how I’m wrong 🤣

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Virginian Yeah. It’s built for high rev bowlers really, so if you’re not high rev, you have to be slower speed.

  • @chrisplaysvirtualpiano7668
    @chrisplaysvirtualpiano7668 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if I missed something Luke, but what happened to your ball rating system?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I said on my Fused and HYB videos that I was ditching it because it confused some people and it was getting kind of broken by some of the newer releases anyway, and as new releases change, it affects the system, so unfortunately it wasn't working out like I'd hoped so I decided to stop doing it because it was fairly inconsistent.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Eh, wouldn't say that. The Match Up Pearl? That's junk lol. The Timeless had its moments, and I think the Drive will have more moments than the Timeless, but they still had a very specific goal in mind for the Drive, and that goal means it's not going to be a one size fits all ball, so it just is what it is. Lol I don't get paid to talk this stuff up, I do this for free, so I've got no reason to BS anybody . .

      This is not junk at all. I have one and it's great for softening up back ends, or generally flat patterns.
