We made it out just in time! SNOWSTORM! (Ft. Me playing hockey!!)

- I really hoped to get all the strapping done, but there's just so many little details that need to be done throughout the process (it's not as simple as I thought it would be 😬). But I got something done, and that's what counts, right?!? 😊
Join me and Luna for some work at the cliff cabin (Clifford!), cozy warm in the tiny cabin, and we get out of dodge just as a massive snow storm hits the area. I'll explain why I'm extra glad I got out before too much snow hit the ground - this kinda changes things for the next couple of weeks!
It snowed about a foot and a half!
Also - see a glimpse of our trip to California AND a couple of shots of me playing hockey.
I always welcome tips and tricks for the work I'm doing, so thanks for all the help along the way!

@michygoss7148 I'm guessing if it's animal allergies, that it's probably the cat. There's a higher incidence of people having cat allergies than with dogs.

I am 75 years old and consider myself fairly active, but you are running circles around anything I could do. Hi Michelle. If you mount the strapping on an angle/slope (not level) like drain pipes, any water that collects on the tops of the strapping will run downhill till it finds one of your drainage cuts and not have to wait for evaporation to happen. I like to think things through too.
I know, but for some reason I kept wanting to put the level on it all! 🤪
@@michygoss7148 Good call. You can use the level to make them equally sloped. Find level, then drop one side of the strap down by about 1/4" per foot of run like a drain pipe.
I bet you can make it look cool.

Watching you build is always a bit like memory lane for me. I built several buildings mostly alone. Constant problem solving. Built mostly just out of my head, no blue prints. My first studio build had a footprint of 44' by 44' and took 4 years in and amongst the touring I did then as a performer. But we got it done. However, I did not do it in the snow on the side of a cliff lol! Love watching you gettin' it done!
Hi Michelle - great shots of the hockey game. The strapping is coming along nice. I never considered the mesh barrier - great idea.
On your drive back, coming out of the tunnel is a sight, but you ought to see these Norwegian night run blizzard trains coming out one of their many tunnels, they glow blue, instead of your bright white glow.
Sooo crazy it took Steve 12 years to watch you play hockey. Took my wife 13 years to watch me play hockey. I didn’t play for those years but a little rusty but being back in the pipes I sure do wish I played those years.

My wife and I found your channel a while back and started following you. We caught a few episodes and then decided to start from the beginning and get all caught up. We watched the episodes about Scout going missing and then the episode where he was located. Our hearts were broken. We hope you know in your hearts that you were meant to be Scouts guardians until he passed into the afterlife. You provided him with a great life even though it was a short time. We have a rescue dog and have had many in our life (although not 5 at one time, 3 was the most). You and Steve are great people for giving these dogs the great life they deserve.
We enjoy watching you create and build. We have a cabin on Kootenay Lake which we believe is just east on the other side of the mountain range from your lake. It is a great place to live.
Keep producing the great videos and make sure you and Steve stay strong and safe.

Its good to consider suggestions, but one thing nice about doing something yourself is that you do it how you want to do it, without someone else telling you how to do it. Again is a nice cozy cabin you have, and an awesome sleeping spot. Luv your hot tub. Your eyes look beautiful sitting in it. :)

And on your hockey, awhile ago you were on a skating rink/place and the way you moved with such balance I knew you were a seasoned hockey player. So I wasn't surprised to see you play so well. You are so aggressive on the rink and if you want to win, that's the way you should play. Luna is such a beautiful fur baby. I'm grateful you got home when you did. As you well know, water is the enemy. But, very little, if any, will get behind your siding if you have full length vertical pieces fit tightly to the soffit. That said, corner joints are more critical and need to be flashed correctly. Bugs as you called them aren't really an issue if there are no holes leading into the walls. There will be though, if you allow rodents to chew their way in. Always best to fend off those critters first. Any 6" long/wide depending on installation orientation, will deter them from climbing. The aluminum flashing around the bottom is great, bot an aluminum critter flashing at the soffit to wall joint will help keep them from entering from the roof area. Just something I did on all my siding jobs, and added to my roof/soffit/facia jobs. If soffit is aluminum that helps too. Anything wood or natural material such as stone is something that critters are made to climb on. My 2 cents, and with inflation? well, you know what that's worth.

I use to be a die hard Buffalo sabers fan when I was a young boy back in the 60' & 70' and until I was 26 and moved down here to north Carolina in 1986. Hardly ever got any of their games so lost interest in hockey and got into nascar and golfing and body building.
Tried to ice and roller skate but even though I was a good athlete I never figured out how to stand and skate on those things LOL. My dad could dance on both he was so good at it. So very frustrating for me not to be able to. Tried skiing, nope only cross country skiing ⛷️ for me so lost interst in that as well.
But it is pretty cool watching you play michy and I'm glad Steve came to watch you play and tell him we appreciate him filming you but more would have been better 😂.
