I`ve watched rhis before but i cant state enough how proud you should be of the man you`ve become, as you know ive been at HMP`s of my own doing, twice!!! you have turned your life around and yes we did wrong but you and i have paid for it i built my own business and have helped others on the slippery slope. proud of you big man best wishes to you and yours. keep inspiring.

I grew up in middle class Australia 60’s/70’s and I think that my childhood was a dream compared to yours, and I had an abusive stepfather who liked to hit me in the face. I was very rebellious as a teenager but never involved in crime or drugs, how ever I admit to shoplifting a pair of knickers fromTarget once and nearly got caught and shat myself. I actually ended up working for the police for 15 years. Others have said that you are a product of your environment and that is very true. You just continue doing what you know, and you learn by what you see. Good on you for rising out of it and becoming a role model for other youngsters.
Kids are a product of their own environment. I'm lucky to have grown up in a different background. Fair play for turning your life around and honesty. Great channel too 👍. You probably save lives.

Ruthless them Ipp sentences I got a 9 for armed robbery and wounding they tried to charge me with a section 18 but the other fella involved pulled a knifebon me to Rob our loot he slashed me we grappled knife come out his hands and I had it so I gave him it when I got charged they initially charged me with the section 18 then got dropped to self defence but still got charged with wounding as the kid admitted his part in it only with a bit of pressure! Anyway had I got the section 18 would of defo got an ipp sentence

Love your work, I think as a kid, you become a product of your environment, if you come from a rough area, you become rough to survive that environment, and if you want to excel, you have to take it to the next level. It's good to see where your at, given the chances and role models you had in life. Love listening to your experiences, I reckon you'd be a top bloke to have a beer and a game of pool with..

I've never been in prison, but i put myself in prison age 52, still puffing and trapped on the painkiller road due to a spine injury you've inspired me, Ricky to start exercising and get back on the road to recovery.

Have lived in Percy Main, North Shields, Chopwell and ended up in Consett just up the road from where you grew up. I have good memories of those places. Cant believe how beautiful the place is and how deprived the areas are.

Your version of starred up. I was at 19 from borstal to port laoise max security prison in the early 90s the irish army were on the roof and every corner of the jail all armed with assault rifles the police were on every landing and then you had the screws thats what you call security
It was charged in the mid 90s they got rid of the cops thats it
I was reading a book called the dirty war about the conflict and men involved say id read at dinner time then go out of my cell and see theses men im reading about really crazy stuff just thought I'd share it with you mate

Keep going mate, I have been brought up the same with poor role models, I still suffer with mental illness at 60yrs old. The only reason I don't kill myself is my daughter. Done bad things as a young man. Just want peace now, but it's hard.

Two of my kids beat up a grapist charged with abh with intent both could of came home from court on bail both asked to be jailed now which they were , it blew my mind that they thought this was a life experience like one off the bucket list , the remand counted as time served for the older one but the younger one went to yo where it didn’t come off his sentence so he did six months extra there for nothing the plonker 😂

A bunch of lads threatened my wife and stepdaughter yesterday in Shipley, on their way to a guitar lesson. Because they, like me, are goth punks. If i hadn't lagged behind looking around the market, I'd probably have ended up in Frankland. Nobody ever threatens me. Because I'm a big lad, albeit in my mid 50's now. But they threaten lasses and kids. Scum. I'd end up doing time if i got hold of the cowardly little bastards
That Headmaster sounds like he shouldn't have been anywhere near kids.

Thankfully not been jail in over 20 yrs now, but when was in n out in 80s was always 23 hours a day behind the door, couldn't believe it when did my last in 2002 3 weeks remand ,telly's n all sorts things hadn't half changed , looking back tv,s are just another control tool the authorities use ,but was ok at the time

I am so sorry Ricky, that you went through so many difficult times. It sounds like you had a really bad patch with friends commiting suicide & everything. I have lost two people to suicide & four to alchohol but the worst was losing my two closest friends to epilepsy & cancer. It has left me feeling I do not have anyone to talk with. I have lost most of my family now too.
I know what you mean by negative & positive mental states & the importance of staying positive. Unfortunately I do not always manage it.

I'm from a place that gets called the jungle people get the wrong idea its just because when it got built it all looked the the same but it has its moments its only a small housing scheme in hamilton but a good place to live

I kew a few lads from up your way, they all seemed to smoke weed, but some got into crime, and some got into cars, getting them super up….
That’s totally messed up! Actually committing offences with an ambition go to prison. It’s embarrassing. One thing Ricky, their ain’t no help when your heads in a tangle.

Don't get offered it but doctor can refer if you ask for it which many don't
