Did some research into it too. Porsche was scrapped on the 2nd November 2010. Saab 900 turbo isn't scrapped or exported. Probably hidden away in a garage or rotting somewhere. Mk1 golf gti is also not scrapped. Although changed owners 3 times in 2014 which is odd. Although most likely still somewhere.
Saab was Vic checked 1/12/2003 so must have been involved in a small accident after the show was broadcast. No cert of destruction issued - so it might be out there somewhere or broken privately for spares by a Saab enthusiast. The Golf Gti was sold on eBay back in 2014 - it had suffered an engine fire and needed a lot of work - its probably been tucked away ever since. It was still quite rough when WD sold it on in truthfulness.
Wheeler Dealers actually made a series of "specials" where they tracked down a few of the cars along with their current owners, to see how they'd faired...
I heard a story about the Saab: it wasn't really for sale and belonged to the Saab specialist who owned the immaculate one. The WD team asked him to find them a 900 Turbo for sale so he offered them his parts car if they let him buy it back afterwards. The 'buyer' was his wife and he actually bought it back for less than he'd sold it to them for, broke it and used the new parts they'd fitted to repair other Saabs. The whole thing was arranged in advance.
good video. just one for the future for you - the 2nd mini they featured in a later series I saw at the London To Brighton mini run back in 2018-ish time. Very worse for wear, but had driven there as it was in the public car park. hope it helps with the history on that one when you come to do it.
The 924 had the same owner for six years after the show, but was issued a certificate of destruction on 02/11/2010 so unfortunately is definitely dead 😢
It's a TV show, I'm sure a lot of things went on off camera. Was always suspicious of the easy fixes they did. Would the boxter really have parked it up for years and sold it for scrap money if all it needed was a gearbox oil flush? The Lancia Delta needed a new steering rack which was sn engine out job. But we were told just replacing the bushes fixed it. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the show back in the day. But the longer it went on the more I could see a lot of it was staged for the camera.
Hi , I’ve subscribed because I love WD especially when Edd was on it and like so many love to hear what happened to these cool cars. Great content and look forward to the next episode
Watching the 924 programme raised my interest in them, they were so cheap, I ended up buying a 944 for £1500, sadly due to an unexpected illness I had to sell it, a year later I bought another for £2k, paid to have it polished and it shone. One day I went to it and someone had taken a screwdriver to the whole car, I was devastated, the only reason I can think of was because of what it was, I claimed on the insurance and never bothered with another
Great video very informative 👍 iv got an interesting challenge for you if you wanted to do it. for a lot off years people have been wondering what happend to the three mini thirty limited edition classic minis that were used in the driving display at the minis thirtieth birthday bash at silverstone in 1989 one was black one was a red convertible and one red one they were drivin by Russ swift the famous british stunt driver are these cars still out there ? Thanks again 👍
God, I can not believe 20 years have past. I remember very good each original WD episode. Time is surely running out of control ... the way it passes. Looking back at the Wheeler Dealer cars, all of them are good engineered cars, compared to the washing machines on 4 wheels from today. Jeremy Clarkson used washing machines, fridges and cardboard boxes as comparison between regular cars and the then-new 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom. That comparison became true now. Now we really have some properly badly engineered cars, in fact, the most of them.
This is useful to know - '£100 in 2003 is equivalent in purchasing power to about £194.98 today, an increase of £94.98 over 20 years. The pound had an average inflation rate of 3.39% per year between 2003 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 94.98%.'
Hello Oscar. I'm just wondering where you live. Obviously I'm not expecting you to revile your actual home address on here but you must be fairly local to myself. I live between Exeter & Dawlish. Loving your channel. Keep it up Fella 👍🏼
For valuation purposes, that show was mainly about tarting something very average up. Not surprising that most of them did not survive the real test being actual road use.
Indeed I own a Saab here in Ireland which arrived here in 2007 from London - a lot of 'nice' cars were imported here c. 2003-2007 as we marched triumphantly to the credit crunch.
To get a better perspective of what's happened to the cars for future episodes it would be worth doing a proper HPI / Car Vertical check on them... That way you should be able to determine exactly what their history is - including things like reg number swaps etc.
Good point, and something we are looking into as we need information on a large number of cars, but this series has taken off a lot better than we expected so we are catching up. Watch this space!
I think the last MOT of the 924 was 2008, just before the scapping scheme. That scheme was terrible. I know they are not to everyone's taste, but I loved the Ford Probe and they all got eaten up by the scheme. I did have one mid 2000s but it was stolen.
@@oscarsgarage447you just look up a vehicle's mot record on the government website. Seems vehicles no longer registered still have an MOT record. Three MOTs, mileages all the same. Strange.
if it had been a 924 Turbo the price today would be a whole lot different was the red 924 that Mike bought in America (for nostagic reasons) not a Turbo?
how are people finding info on when a cars changed hands or been scrapped? I regularly check the mot status website for a couple of old cars to see if they’re about or not still, didn’t know you could look deeper
The general plural of "pound" has usually been "pounds" (at least since Chaucer), but the continuing use of the Old English genitive or neuter "pound" as the plural after numerals (for both currency and weight) is common in some regions. It can be considered correct, or colloquial, depending on region. So technically either is correct...
This video came up in my suggested and it didn't disappoint. This was rather interesting and informative. Keep it up.
Wheeler dealer cars were never condition 1, fully restored mint etc. Perhaps the odd later car but these early ones were very much rattle-can-resto's
Did some research into it too.

That series reffers to the cars which Edd fixed?
Same keeper on the Saab since 2004 and has not been scrapped so maybe sat in a garage, barn or field somewhere!

Great to hear!
Great video 👍 WD is one of my favourite shows i go to meet mike he is a nice man very friendly
Thanks. Agree on Mike, met him yesterday.
I remember Mike saying to the doctor/dentist about the electric window not working. Wasn't happy about him not being honest about it!
I saw the golf gti in Prestatyn some years ago at a classic car show. It was for sale at the time
Interesting and informative

Fantastic, more of these
More to come!
It you look closely at the Golf GTI you can see they put the graphics on upside down

really interesting, can we ask where did you sourced the info?
Was there a "cash for clunkers" like program in the UK at the time?
@@andreasu.3546Yes unfortunately. I think the E30 325i Touring was lost to it
@oscarsgarage447 I found out too. I used Carbaba to find the info. Most likely in the scrappage scheme
Car Baba :-)
The Boxster that Mike bought for just £1K that only required an oil change would be interesting. That said, it's all interesting.
I remember that one, I always wonder if they knew more about what the fault was than they let on in the show?

The Golf changed keeper 3 times in 2014 but not since. Not scrapped so likely stored somewhere...
Bloody hell, a face from the past. Interesting stuff Trevor.
Go on, give us a clue?

Love a challenge, but a few WD series to get through first, but will put it n the list.
People typing brought instead of bought is one thing that annoys me, but actually saying it? NO.
Bugs the hell out of me
I remember the golf was also featured in car mechanics magazine, however they put metal wheel trims on not alloys.

You should start doing the flipping bangers cars 👍
The freelander they did is on Market place as a non runner for 600…needs new alternator
If the owner puts a custom private reg plate on it will we then lose the ability to hunt it down on the dvla mot checker website? Just a thought.

Think I saw the GTI for sale on eBay a while back - think it had a rat look, lowered, etc and was partially disassembled. Anyone else confirm this?
For valuation purposes, that show was mainly about tarting something very average up. Not surprising that most of them did not survive the real test being actual road use.
My dad searches the reg of most of the cars. So may of them either don’t exist or are on entirely different cars
924 MOTS : 05, 06, and 08 (no 07) all advisory free but same mileage 9999?? Nothing since which corresponds with an earlier comment.
Would be more interesting if you used a third party car history checker (eg car vertical). Would confirm if scrapped or had new plates etc.
We are working on that!
Perhaps some of the cars have ended up in Ireland? They would disappear of the British registration system if that was the case

Just come across this channel and subscribed, most of the sales on WD were fake, especially in the earlier series.
Can you imagine buying any of these or the parts for those prices! 😂😂😂
It's bought, not brought
So many people can’t understand this these days

Nice to see my mistakes from over a year ago still haunt me... but welcome aboard! 😂

The Golf GTi is in Ireland, 100% confirmed.
Love info like this, but wouldn't it have come off the DVLA database?
Porsche definitely scrapped - Certificate of destruction 02/11/2010
Even if the Porsche did have a private plate put on it, surely, there'd have been a record of that?
We updated in part 4 the Porsche had been recorded scrapped. :-(
i wouldnt class any early wheelr dealer car as class 1 condition, there where all bodged to sell on
Never watched it after Ed left.
Unless I picked it up wrongly, the Saab turbo was scrapped a year after getting restored/ repaired?!
Its not had a certificate of destruction issued so still shown as existing on government website, but is probably scrapped.

Last mot was 06/02/2008 😅

Stick with us, thanks for comment we will get to the Corrado
You should change the chanel title to 'Old Cars That Have Disappeared Off The Face Of The Earth.'

Seeing the title of the video I expected to see the mentioned cars.
We are confused... features Porsche, SAAB and Golf as mentioned in the titile???
