Vauxhall Key fob shell & button replacement

  • Here we have a go at replacing the casing (shell) of a Vauxhall Corsa remote.
    The old shells tend to break down especially where you press the buttons, resulting in a key fob you can no longer use to open / close your car.
    In this video we replace the shell (casing) of the remote and also replace the 2 buttons on the circuit board, these tend to fail at the same time.

    I hate solder wick, I use a flux pen on it , and you need to put a good bit of solder on your iron tip to get good heat transfer to the wick or it just never gets hot! Thanks for the video.

    I have one of these keys and some of the transistors are missing. I got a new one, but I cannot program it because I don't have the card anymore. Can I solder the old black block into the new chip?

    So on my 02 zafira its the circuit board in key broke, but transponder chip is old type not soldered to the board, question is if i change the board n case for one from 2nd hand key but put my chipnin will it work didnt think the boards needed programming just the chip itself? Anyone

    • @ElectronicStuff
      @ElectronicStuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly don't know, but in theory it should work as the transponder is just an rfid chip

      yussi01 put your key in the ignition barrel and press the buttons on the key. if I remember correctly it needs to be on the on position without engine running. this happens if you keep the key battery out for over 15minutes.

    Why dont these people rehearse before filming? Why solder wires on to test when the clips will need to be fitted eventually?

      Thanks for your comment, This was a quick off the cuff repair video and I was using the wires to show the repair working (had I put it in to the new shell then I would have been able to show the unit working but as a enclosed remote rather than the board I had just repaired) However your comment is a valid one and some things could be done differently but the style of the video is how I shoot most of the time

    This is simple the problem is you will still need to program the key to
    the car :(( waste of time..

    Sorry, but this video is a real "how NOT to do" something.... Thanks for the effort, but it's a real botch!!!
    ...Not even scissors to open the battery, don't you have something sharp? ...and the contacts of the controller battery and soldering the power wires on the motherboard... better not to talk about it!
    Good luck!

    This video is a joke. Who would trust the repair advice of a bloke that can't push a battery through the backing card of the packaging. SERIOUSLY!!!

    • @ElectronicStuff
      @ElectronicStuff  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was one of the worse battery packages I've come across, it did not want to push out the back
