  • The Kokufu ten Bonsai Exhibition is the most prestigious and the largest bonsai show in the world. It si organized, run and sponsored by the Nippon Bonsai Association (NBA). It is also sponsored by The Ministry of Education, the City of Tokyo and the NHK.
Only the finest bonsai in Japan are displayed and, if there is not a worthy tree between those exposed, the prizes are not allowed.
To win one of the prizes is a great honor to the owner of the bonsai and the bonsai master who took care and styled it. Once a bonsai is awarded with a price it can never take part again to this Exhibition but it could be displayed.
In 2019 the first part of the Exhibition is from Feb.9th to 12th and the second part of the show is from Feb.14th to 17th.
Hope you will enjoy the video.
This video is the first of two on PART 1

Barry John I use a DJ Osmo pocket camera which is very small and I do not come in contact with the bonsai while shooting. I know their economic value, moreover I will never do something to harm such beautiful creations. For other shootings I used the zoom with an IPhone. I do video on bonsaicause I love bonsai. You do not harm what you love.

Absolutely beautiful trees and I would love to be able to create or own one as good as these, however I thought the teaching behind Bonsai was to create what you see in nature! How many of these styles has anyone seen in real life on full grown trees not many if any? Great video makes me want to start reviewing my small collection (4 trees) and look at how to improve their look.

Well, I feel it may just depend on the place or location. If it’s noisy and would interfere with the viewing experience than feel free to add some soft music. But if it’s silent or in a very quite area than I would say leave it out. That’s just my opinion.
