The diamond point bits are great for glass, but I have also found they work very well for smoothing out an area that's been carved. They wouldn't be good for the actual carving, but perfect for smoothing and sanding.

I'm just getting started with Dremel carving. Why do you use diamond point bits on wood? I thought the diamond point bits were mainly for glass.
