@Flaros Oceanic I recently built a threadripper system with a shit ton of RAM and just for shits n' giggles I installed VMWare and ran a VM, then installed VMWare on the VM and ran a VM inside a VM, then I kept going for a bit till it was unusable. I was able to go over a dozen, each VM within a VM I just kept lowering the core count and RAM and at the end the VM was down to a single core and 1 GB of RAM and no longer usable because win 10.
for me as a software developer just imagine how cool would it be to bring my PS4 to work and when colleagues and boss asks "why you brought your game console to work? to play?" , i would reply, "no, of course not! its my work PC NOW" :)))))

I heard the exploit is already out but the developers are holding back for some reasons like liability of lawsuit and etc. But I believe it will get released soon.
The thing is the ps4 is really underpowered(It is using it's full power). The only reason it runs AAA titles on it's own OS is because the games are heavily optimised for its hardware. The GPU has 18 GCN 1.1 Compute units, which makes it very close to the r7 370 and since it's GCN optimisation is key if you look at current gen GCN graphics cards in optimised titles you can see the radeon 7 coming close to even the rtx 2080 ti. All that consoles lack is raw power but it kinda makes up with optimisation. Still a even a ps4 pro won't even come close to something like an rx 5700xt or rtx 2070, even w/o optimisation these cards would beat it.

As someone who hasn't really kept up with jailbreaking and only really knew about last gen console jailbreaks, seeing this video in my recommendations is really amazing how far jailbreaks on next gen have reached. A console is a PC though... They all use the same hardware. Xbox even has Windows 10 now days. Only people who don't know what a PC is thinks a console is not a PC. The Switch doesn't count since it's not really a console as it has the same hardware the Nvidia Shield has. It's more of a handheld with the ability to use your tv.
@@MarcinKralka That "custom driver" is literally including the required data for the PS4 GPUs in the normal open source AMD drivers that my R9 Nano is quite literally using to render and display this video afaik. I mean, the PS4 literally just has a HD7870 in it and the Pro a 290X iirc. He already arguably has got SteamPlay installed given that he has Doom in his installed games. It only runs via SteamPlay.

@Justin Martone Metaphor exists. We're talking words not mathematics. The PS4 and xbox were lauded as 1080p systems yet a large number of their releases ended up being 900p with little acknowledgement, anybody without developmental issues should be able to understand the context of what i said.
Drivers for PS gpu arent the sam for PC ones too. That's alot of job to do. U need literally one AMD driver making team to optimize everything. Consoles are much more simple than PC.
The Switch emulators are still very young, whereas the x86 emulators are very mature. Since the PS4 is built on x86 architecture, there is almost no modification required to run these emulators under Linux.

Well not necessarily. You might save up for a PS4 because there is some exclusive you were wanting to play and now you don't have any money left for a PC. Gaming PC's also cost more than a PS4 and you can't play those PS4 exclusives on a PC. Some people might of got their PS4 as a birthday gift. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to defend this as if it's better than getting a PC. I'm just saying people have all kinds of different situations and it's just nice to have something like this as an option.

these comments show a lot of hate towards this for "fps" reasons. But as i look at my ps4 sitting next to me, doing nothing with, as i play with my pc 2080 16 gig ram 7700k . I can still see a Reason to do this, i want to play games i havn't had the opportunity to yet! Buy Final fantasy 8 on steam, it's actually locked at 15 fps(native). still playable in all its old ass glory. Don't believe me? buy and see for yourself on a beast PC! some games were never optimized for PC. I'm sure you could unlock this in the ini files, or something of that nature, but is it worth? Allocating your time is something you have to do yourself. This would be well worth my time if i could go back to ps1 classics on my ps4, or even some nintendo games! talk about a nostalgia overload. I was only able to get Skate 3 to load to the Menu and it won't play, black screens after. I think it's due to the OpenGL drivers and the fact it can't use Vulkan...yet.

@Modded Warfare hey bud just for future reference, a usb hub will never require a separate driver, the drivers are all hardware side and baked in the Linux distro I have had several throughout the years and used on PC, ps4 etc and have NEVER had to find a driver, now a wall outlet for more power maybe but never drivers
I'm currently using a PS4 Pro to test this method *Yes I'm on 5.05 Mira Hen* I used the same files in the description formatted my drive to FAT32, and use the same website to use the linux payload, and all my PS4 does is just freezes. The system shows the white light bar and a black screen. I think this method is not fully compatible and after doing some research I think certain TV monitors cause some issue from the initial bootup. So I tried another monitor and now my system kernel panics everytime loading this payload from the site.
It's because your USB HDD is too slow for the PS4 to recognize and read the file structure when the payload initializes. For example I have a 8GB USB Stick that is garbage for installing Linux on but I have an older 120GB USB HDD that runs Linux perfectly, I keep both plugged in and launch the web browser then once the screen goes black yank the USB 8GB stick out and the payload carries over to the slower loading HDD. To combat that completely I just partitioned a 1TB USB 3.0 HDD I had laying around and it launches the payload first try. Also; if you're not able to see the full desktop screen once linux is booted make sure your TV's screen aspect ratio is set correctly. Linux (on PS4; Currently) can only support 1920x1080 so make sure your PS4 output settings are set to 1080P and not "Automatic". If you set it to 4K/Automatic you will load a green looking filtered screen that's still 1080P anyways lol.

@@MarcinKralka That "custom driver" is literally including the required data for the PS4 GPUs in the normal open source AMD drivers that my R9 Nano is quite literally using to render and display this video afaik. I mean, the PS4 literally just has a HD7870 in it and the Pro a 290X iirc.
He already arguably has got SteamPlay installed given that he has Doom in his installed games. It only runs via SteamPlay.

The Switch emulators are still very young, whereas the x86 emulators are very mature. Since the PS4 is built on x86 architecture, there is almost no modification required to run these emulators under Linux.

Even though my PS4 is not jailbroken, I keep myself always up to date with this guy videos. I don't actually know why, but what i definitely know that I'm exited to get a PS5 once it comes out and apply every single tutorial he will make.

When you clicked on Recommended Settings in L4D2, it set your resolution back down to 900p. Just so you know!

They cant "close" something they already "closed". This is done on an older 5.05 kernel.

Well not necessarily. You might save up for a PS4 because there is some exclusive you were wanting to play and now you don't have any money left for a PC. Gaming PC's also cost more than a PS4 and you can't play those PS4 exclusives on a PC. Some people might of got their PS4 as a birthday gift. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to defend this as if it's better than getting a PC. I'm just saying people have all kinds of different situations and it's just nice to have something like this as an option.

Exclusives are anti-consumer and is the selling point of consoles. Without exclusives there would be no reason to buy a console, just get the game on PC and it'll run and look better.
There's no scenario anyone should pay 400-500 for a slab of outdated hardware that struggles 60FPS in demanding games when I can make a PC for the same price that can run it buttery smooth and will be the same for upcoming games.

these comments show a lot of hate towards this for "fps" reasons. But as i look at my ps4 sitting next to me, doing nothing with, as i play with my pc 2080 16 gig ram 7700k . I can still see a Reason to do this, i want to play games i havn't had the opportunity to yet! Buy Final fantasy 8 on steam, it's actually locked at 15 fps(native). still playable in all its old ass glory. Don't believe me? buy and see for yourself on a beast PC! some games were never optimized for PC. I'm sure you could unlock this in the ini files, or something of that nature, but is it worth? Allocating your time is something you have to do yourself. This would be well worth my time if i could go back to ps1 classics on my ps4, or even some nintendo games! talk about a nostalgia overload. I am actually not even sure if my ps4 pro will work doing this, message me if you want to know if it worked. May not get to it for a few days.

Yes i know it will run like ass due to limited RAM, DirectX to Vulkan, and the horrifically slow CPU in the PS4 (which is why I find it insane that it runs BF5 as well as it does) but it sounds fun.

@Modded Warfare hey bud just for future reference, a usb hub will never require a separate driver, the drivers are all hardware side and baked in the Linux distro I have had several throughout the years and used on PC, ps4 etc and have NEVER had to find a driver, now a wall outlet for more power maybe but never drivers
I'm currently using a PS4 Pro to test this method *Yes I'm on 5.05 Mira Hen* I used the same files in the description formatted my drive to FAT32, and use the same website to use the linux payload, and all my PS4 does is just freezes. The system shows the white light bar and a black screen. I think this method is not fully compatible and after doing some research I think certain TV monitors cause some issue from the initial bootup. So I tried another monitor and now my system kernel panics everytime loading this payload from the site.

It's because your USB HDD is too slow for the PS4 to recognize and read the file structure when the payload initializes. For example I have a 8GB USB Stick that is garbage for installing Linux on but I have an older 120GB USB HDD that runs Linux perfectly, I keep both plugged in and launch the web browser then once the screen goes black yank the USB 8GB stick out and the payload carries over to the slower loading HDD.
To combat that completely I just partitioned a 1TB USB 3.0 HDD I had laying around and it launches the payload first try. Also; if you're not able to see the full desktop screen once linux is booted make sure your TV's screen aspect ratio is set correctly.
Linux (on PS4; Currently) can only support 1920x1080 so make sure your PS4 output settings are set to 1080P and not "Automatic". If you set it to 4K/Automatic you will load a green looking filtered screen that's still 1080P anyways lol.
