    I like the idea of adding Winker if Nats are willing to move their rentals. He checks all the boxes: OF, LH, OBP guy.
    I still like the idea of adding someone with some control with all of the injuries this year. No guarantee the main 3 will be healthy next year. Not even the all-star break and they're on their 8th or 9th outfielder?

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Makes no sense for the Nats to not move guys like Winker really. I'm not sure why you would look for anyone that has any control beyond this year, unless they are affordable salary wise? You still have control of Ramon Laureano for 2025 if they wish, as he still has 1 more arbitration year left yet, even control of guys like Martínez or Wall if they wish.

    • @acgonzales7
      @acgonzales7 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MassBoost I have no confidence in Wall or Martinez being quality options if needed for any extended period, which we're seeing now. Laureano needs to show he can perform and stay healthy for more than a few series.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@acgonzales7 And that's fine if you have no confidence in them, as they are just options that you have which you could platoon or not. But remember it's a 2 way street too, as guys like Gavin Sheets or Ty France show to be no more valuable than Orlando Arcia due to their terrible defense, despite their above average hitting. Even with Winker, I'd still at least platoon him with Laureano or Duvall, as both hit left handers better than Winker along with both playing much better defense than Winker as well.

    The Braves have to get a bench bat; can’t have Luke Williams or Zack Short pitching hitting with game on the line against top relief arms.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why not? Short has the 2nd best OBP on the team at .345 due to his 20.0% walk rate, and has the highest career walk rate on the team, the guy just gets on base.

      @@MassBoost who cares? I was not talking about him anyway, I was talking about Bellinger, Happ, and Suzuki. Mike Tauchman has played in MLB games since 2017 by the way, that’s 7 years. Getting back to the point, Happ, Bellinger, and Suzuki are three of the Cubs outfielders who could help the Braves and most Cubs fans would cry if they were shown the door.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scottemory72 I mean I guess it's hard to say who you're talking about when no names were mentioned? Tauchman has the 3rd most time played behind Happ and Bellinger this year, and Suzuki only has 2 years of service time/1283 plate appearances, which is less than Tauchman, thus Suzuki's could be not considered a vet either depending on who you're asking. But at least you're now clarifying who. But none of them really make sense, as Happ and Suzuki aren't free agents till 2027, and you likely don't want to touch Bellinger who's performance isn't great, and his metrics are even sketchier than last year, to go with his Player Options of $27.5 and $25mil over the next 2 years beyond this year.

    • @TheSonofabiscuit
      @TheSonofabiscuit 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @MassBoost he's only signed through 2026, and Acuña Jr will most likely need plenty of DH days in 2025. I feel it would only seem worth it if Springer comes through in the 24 playoffs, and Bichette signs an extension.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheSonofabiscuit I mean 2026 is 2 more years beyond this year. Then there's the issue that the Braves still have a option on Ozuna for $16mil for 2025, while Springer consumes $24.1mil each of the next 2 years. Just hard to see them taking on that much salary, with the option on Ozuna which will likely be taken. Then you'd have one of Springer, Acuna, or Ozuna not playing at all times possibly. Plus Springer hasn't been overly impressive the last year and a half, slightly over average offensively last year, and below average offensively this year, and his metrics aren't great either. Just not seeing something they would ever do, especially at his price range.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheSonofabiscuit I get it, but you have to think sensible from a teams perspective. You would end up with an outfielder who you don't need beyond this year, you get a shortstop that you don't know what he'll do beyond next year, and taking on both would add a significant amount of salary, and you get taxed on all that salary. You might as well try to get someone like Jesse Winker who's hitting well for the outfield, you only pay a prorated amount on his $2mil salary, and who's contract is up at the end of the year. If you still are looking to upgrade at short, call up Nacho Alvarez who likely won't be any worse than Arcia, but has a chance to be better, and he costs you next to nothing in salary. It's not like Bichette is hitting that great anyways this year with a 78 wRC+, which is even worse than Zack Short's 80 wRC+, which Short could be an option as well for the Braves. I don't see it being worth it from mine, and likely the teams perspective.

    What do we think about Nolan Jones from the Rockies? He seems to have the tools that Braves FO typically likes, Rockies are in need of arms in their system, and a lot of their top prospects are OF. Think he could potentially be an everyday OF looking at his splits. But even if you wanted to platoon him you can. Doesn’t make much sense for us to get a guy with control, but Acunas knees are a concern. Could transition him into a DH once big bear is gone. If you could get him for cheap I’d say go for it

      @MassBoost you are the funniest guy. I didn't say i don't like him, I'm worried about him. He has quite a few appearances in non pivotal spots. He has some good appearances in tight spots too. You always bringing up these cherry picked stats that honestly don't mean chit! Here ill cherry pick too..... 1.606 WHIP 10.9 H/9 .413 babip and ZERO HOLDS! It's the eyes. He hasn't been in real pressure yet, and the closest thing is preserving some shutouts and holds. I like his pitch mix, I like his delivery and I like that he has lowered his BBs but he really hasn't figured out keeping runners off base. I watch him and every time he gives up anything it looks like someone killed his dog. I just think when time comes he's gonna fold. I hope not, I like the guy and want him to be great! He's doing some good things! Just not sure if it'll translate to post season ball.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mychaelmitchell4632 I didn't say you didn't like him either. I just posted his ERA, along with his FIP and xFIP which both suggest that his ERA should be lower, not higher, and is not on the fortunate side of pitching. His 25.6% strikeout rate is good, and his 8.8% walk rate is average, so it just comes down to him having some of his hits just not being caught by the defense at an extremely unfortunate rate due to his .413 BABIP against, while his 86.3 mph exit velocity ranks towards the top in baseball in the 91st percentile. So hitters aren't squaring up on anything most of the time, but yet the defense hasn't been good enough to get to them, or just unlucky enough to where some were hit in the perfect spots. How is that cause for concern?

    • @mychaelmitchell4632
      @mychaelmitchell4632 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MassBoost I agree he's got some really good red in there. It's just the blue is in bad areas. It's still only 30 games+/- he's appeared in so can't make the full case but a 1.60 whip for relief pitching isn't going to ever get it. That's just too many runners! I'd like to see hid overall splits for coming in with runners on and starting an inning. I'm not the greatest at savant metrics searching. I'd like to see how many times he's let inherited runners score vs starting an inning and whip for each situation

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mychaelmitchell4632 I get that, but his higher WHIP is a product of hitters getting hits off of him, even though he doesn't allow hitters to hit the ball very hard or hit them in the air with a 57.5% ground ball rate. If it was a walk issue we could say that walks are an issue in that, but his walk rate is average. So it's a matter of unfortunate hits, most of which aren't being hit hard, and most of which are being hit on the ground. Heck Bummer has yet to even give up a single Barreled Ball all year in 28 innings, and he's only 1 of 2 to do that out of all pitchers who have faced 100 batters or more, the other is Justin Martinez of Arizona, that's impressive. His results might not be overly impressive right now, but the concern level is very low with the way hitters have hit off of him so far this year.

    I like the Jesse Winker idea. I've thought about him a lot. I also saw an article earlier saying we could trade with the Cubs for Bellinger😂😂 I'd love it but ain't gonna happen. Would be like trading for Joc in 21 kinda due to both players being former dodgers, and both are left-handed power hitters. But you already know that. My sleeper picks that I think AA could target:
    Hunter Strickland RP(from GA but on the Angels/history with Harper)
    Joc Pederson LF/DH ( I genuinely think that ATL would be willing to sacrifice the defense for the clubhouse presence. Especially considering his season stats)
    Eloy Jimenez LF/DH for some reason to me has just felt like the type of guy AA would target. Former well regarded prospect and honestly a LOT of similarities to Ozuna. Maybe under the right coaching he could revive his career. He would be a lot like the Jorge Soler trade but his injury history and season statistics leave a lot to be desired. Also not sure how long he has on his current contract.
    I know people have talked about this one a bit but it just fits too well.
    Luis Rengifo IF/OF Now I'm bringing up Rengifo because of his unique ability to play all over the field. I do think Arcia is more than likely THE GUY for the rest of this year and possibly the next few years but only if he picks up the pace at the plate. While SS is a more fielding first position... You CANNOT be a guaranteed out at the plate... So he is going to have a LOT to prove. Otherwise I think we see AA trade for Rengifo and potentially extend him. Depending on who he is eyeing for a free agency signing. SS is our biggest ? for the future of the lineup. I'd personally love Bo Bichette or Willy Adames but I don't see those 2 happening.
    Brendan Rodgers 2B/SS (kinda similar to David Fletcher. Not a lot of pop but has good bat to ball skills)
    Jose Siri OF (This dude hasnt had the best season but he has been pretty hot lately. He has a lot of energy and seems like a great clubhouse guy. Also played for the Astros during their playoff runs and pretty sure their 2022 world series win. So he has playoff experience. He's also very fast. So it would add some speed to a pretty slow lineup)
    With that said this last 1 is the least likely but I'd love it.
    Matt McClain SS
    McClain is injured currently yes I know. But I'm going to list a few reasons why I think AA COULD target him(more than likely won't) #1) the Reds are loaded up on infielders particularly SS/3B and need outfield help/pitching. I think it could be a 3 team trade type of thing like we had with Murphy. We would get McClain and he showed serious promise in his rookie season but has been bitten by the injury bug. But they have Elly de la cruz and Noelvi Marte. They have Jonathan India and Spencer Steer(yes ik he plays a little of everything). They have Cam Collier and Edwin Arroyo who will be in the bigs pretty soon. So it makes sense to move 1 or more of those pieces for other needs. No idea what that trade could look like but I don't think it's super likely anyway. #2 He is young and controllable a lot like Kelenic. #3 he's really not going to have many opportunities to play everyday unless he switches positions or if Elly switches to the outfield like I've heard rumors of. But even then... Their farm is kinda cramped on the IF. #4 there aren't many teams that will be looking for their future SS who will be competitive. Cubs- Dansby Swanson, Yankees-Anthony Volpe, Astros-Jeremy Pena, Red Sox- Vaughn Grissom(maybe?), Orioles- Gunnar Henderson, Dbacks-Blaze Alexander, Royals-Bobby Witt Jr, Pirates- Oneil Cruz, Brewers-Willy Adames. Let me know your thoughts. Don't be a jackass. It's just speculation and my personal ideas. I do not work for the Braves' front office so cut me some slack.

      I'm sure they would trade Bellinger in a heartbeat. He hitting worse this year than last with a 110 wRC+, while having even worse metrics than what he had the year before which were already sketchy, plus he has 2 player options for $27.5mil and $25mil for the next 2 years, so he has every right to take those options as they are player option and not team options. The Cubs would have to pay to get rid of him. Joc is a DH only now, as his defense is worse than Ozuna's, and hasn't played in the outfield since 2022 pretty much.
