Everyone's missing the point. It doesn't matter where the guy is from or what language he is speaking, it's the fact that it took him about two days to ask his question. We would all laugh just the same if an English person did the same thing.

It was his first experience whereas hamilton already knew how to deal with this kind of pressure (2007, 2008). I think that's why hamilton is more relaxed in this video than rosberg

To the people too lazy to read the title: The reason it’s funny is the length of the question, not his accent. F1 is a global sport and many drivers themselves have thick accents (Fernando, Grosjean etc.) they definitely weren’t making fun of his accent. Go look for reasons to be upset somewhere else.
Its funny because people publicly speaking english this badly , in front of many people in the room and many more in front of the TV is unexpected, which makes it fit into the definition of a pointe (or, the dumbed down english version "punch line"). No matter if intended. That is, factually, why it is funny.

It is totally not unexpected to have a guy speak with an accent, its rather common if you ask me. And it wasn't that he was speaking "bad" per se, but rather that it took him half an eternity bc he went on to quote Niki, Vettel, and Nico, to then continue to ask like 5 questions. If he had just asked his questions without the quotes no one would have bat an eye. When Ocon said they were "hardly working" instead of e.g. "working very hard", no one showed any kind of reaction. And when Vettel, Grosjean, or any of the other drivers are speaking in a rather weird way, or just grammatically wrong, no one starts to laugh either. I think we can both laugh and understand. In the same way that Vettel did. It was not that bad a question, it was just, due to it being his second language, phrased in a funny way. Vettel laughed because it was phrased in a funny way and then also gave him a fair answer. That's the way to do it. I think if you are trying to be mean to the reporter, obviously that's a bad thing but, also you have to be able to have a laugh. A balance is the healthy option here. It wasn't to be mean, in fact, it was a genuine laugh. And everyone loves that reporter, racers, staff and fans alike. The fact he has this video dedicated to one of his questions is proof.
It’s especially great because he’s “disarming” himself after he criticised the moderator, and showing he was only having fun. (Yes I’m a trained psychologist and body language expert, it took me years to understand stuff like this.)
Seb's answer was amazing. That press conference was full of jems, like when someone asked Alonso who wanted as a teammate and Jenson strated to stare him. And BTW, it was fun and the reporter is fine about this. Stop with the "it's offensive". If we tried not to offend anyone, F1 would disappear

man, the way he speaks is funny, but everyone in f1 is used to accents, since the drivers are from many different countries. what turned this into a classic was the length of the question and his mannerisms. The accent was just the cherry on top.
It was a great question and i think people forget that the year after this F1 introduced new rules about driver coaching/telling them how to drive the car. The rules turned out to be a silly idea but this reporter asked a very relevant question which shortly afterwards became a hot topic.

I have a sincere respect for the journalist. I am myself learning German, not only because I need it for work, but because I like the language. I enjoy exploring the plethora of dialects and I am working on my listenings skills as well as phonetics. This really helps me to get in the melody of German speech and have fun in the process.
