I just wanted to say I been following your channel for a while I remember when you first started out I feel in love with your videos,,,just wanted to say I’m proud of you brother and keep up the good work
I've been eating Indian subcontinent food from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan & Sri Lanka for 60 years now. Started in west Philly in the 1960's, so I have a pretty good handle on these cusines. JL, this restaurant you ate at is northern Indian focused, the most common cusine offered in the USA! With so much diversity in these cuisines it would take 100 years to try them all, like China! For beginners who would like to try northern Indian food try the buffet AYCE on chestnut street at 40th in west Philly. I think the price is still less than $20. You will have a chance to sample a lot of different dishes and not spend a lot. For Pakistani try the restaurant on chestnut street at I think 45th street. Best Bangldeshi is in Queens, NYC. Best Sri Lankan is in north Jersey! Enjoy the spice!
U came a long way my guy I've been a sub since u had about 3 to 4k subs I'm happy to see your channel grow keep grinding you are definitely on your way
Finally! As one of your fans from the beginning who happens to be Indian I was waiting for you to taste some real Indian home cooking and you found it! You know when JL sings like that, that food is magic! Much love 🫡💙
My Dawg with vocals! I hear you wit the tone, and the runs. Indian food is bomb, and good for you! Their spice profile is literally beneficial to the body.
Hey JL! Long time Indian-American follower here; so a major thing to be aware of is the subregional uniqueness of Indian food - the most basic being North Indian / South Indian food, which is vastly different due to base differences (butter v oil) and seasoning differences - so Delhi garden, being more of a North indian restaurant, the right thing that you got is Tandoori chicken and that naan - get some paneer (cubed cheese) dishes - paneer tikka, palak paneer, etc! That Chicken 65 looked good, but is a South Indian food. Vindaloo is also not North Indian (and is an early fusion Indian-Portuguese dish), more of a coastal/west dish. It’s kinda like getting a NY slice or a Philly cheesesteak in a Texas restaurant- might not be bad, but not the scope of the cuisine. A lot of times, these restaurants will be able to tell you what kinda regional cuisine they specialize in.
If y’all are wondering why there’s these significant differences in Indian subregional cuisine - it’s largely because India was formed as a collection of different kingdoms that had divergent culinary evolutions dating back millenia, and also influences from global trade and historical colonizers (ie Portugal in Goa, Mughals in some areas of the north, etc) - if you’re heard of biryani in Indian cuisine for ex. , that’s due to Mughal influence.
The great thing about this is that it’s rare to have a “I’ve tried it all” moment when it comes to Indian food - try Gujarati snacks and sweets, try Goan seafood, try Hyderabadi / Andhra biryani, try Tamil Rasam and rice, etc - they all taste very different and are amazing in their own ways.
Lastly, even though a lot of Indians like spicy food, spicy food is not a must-have attribute of Indian cuisine (for the most part). The big thing in Indian cuisine is the rich diversity of *spices* and *condiments* which don’t have to be spicy and in fact I recommend people don’t get adventurous with. Because Indian food, first and foremost, is about being *flavorful* with the symphony that is generated with the mix of spices and vegetables and oils and meats and cooking time. Too spicy can actually numb you to that experience.
@@kalikasida Thanks for the info, it's helpful. I am Italian but I love Indian food. My Punjabi friend at work always brings extra food for me, The shahi paneer he brings is so amazing.
I like most veg curries, decant the oily layer, then dip the naan , gotta be that Garlic butter naan with sesame. seeds. Jl needs to mix his ratios of curry and chicken with a starch, cant be scooping gravy and meat without rice or bread lol
What a fun review! I can feel your joy! I appreciate you stepping out of your comfort zone to help show followers that it is ok to put yourself out there!
Next time you go to an Indian restaurant YOU HAVE TO TRY THE BUTTER CHICKEN🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. That was the first dish i was put on and i have been going back ever since
My go to order at an Indian restaurant is always tandoori chicken, a garlic naan, chana masala (garbanzos bean in a thick sauce), a plate of onion and chillis to eat with every bite and a big pot of mint sauce to dip the chicken in. Can't beat a mango lassi, some gulab jamun or carrot havlwa if you get something sweet 🙌. I also recommend trying southern Indian food, nothing better than a fresh masala dosa with a bowl of sambar and all the chutnies to dip it in but I always need extra coconut chutney.
I must say , your son is so well behaved ! He sits in his seat and you never hear him as he plays with his toy . He must be a very picky eater because in most videos he never eats . Most kids would be sreaming , jumping all over the seats , in your food etc . Lol He is so cute ! The food looks Da💣 !! 😋😋😋😋
Garlic nan, veg samosa, chicken tikka masala (mild to offset some of the heat) goat vindaloo, Goat Curry Masala any goat really, better bone in if available ( anything vindaloo is crazy spicy) a combination biryani and DONT skip the vegetables, they do crazy good things with them. Try lamb dishes and Manchurian dishes as well. Lastly ask for all available condiments…chutney is a sweet accompaniment and the yogurt based items cool off the heat. ENJOY

@AngelicBeatdown I live about 15 minutes from Edison and noticed most people who left bad reviews complained about getting sick of finding foreign objects in their food.
Here are my go-tos for Indian food: veggie samosas, chicken curry, lamb vindaloo, aloo gobi (sautéed potatoes and cauliflower with spices), bhindi masala (sautéed okra and tomatoes in spices), mala dosa (Indian “crepe” stuffed with seasoned potatoes with a dipping sauce). All very flavorful. I do plan to try some different things on the menu at my local spot.
My wife and I went here today based on your video. All I can say is all the food we ordered (basically all you ordered in your video 😂) was DELICIOUS!! Thanks man! We have a new place to eat 👍🏼
From Philly didn't try Indian food till move to SF....gotta checkout the lamb dishes!! And, have some kind of yogurt at the end to settle the spice. Aloha
I really love your channel, I have been watching you for at least 2 and a half years. You make food look so good and those Indian Dishes looked absolutely delicious. BTW your son is such a cute well behaved little guy ❤
Try Lamb/Goat Saag (spicy) with chapati or parata. Chicken or lamb Korma is good as well with Poori/Roti. If you like rice and meats infused- Goat/Lamb Biryani/Kuska rice is good too! Chana Massala & Dhal Mahkani is good as well if you want to try vegetarian Indian food. You’ll find that the North and South cook differently. I like both. Afro/Indo- Guyanese so I love anything Indian 🥰
edison/islen is the truth when it comes to indian food. i don't know if you got to drive down oak tree road but its called little india locally and its straight up all indian businesses, from restaurants to clothing shops. theres a spot there called papa pancho pizza thats indian pizza and its amazing. if you ever want some good indian food but don't want to take that long of a drive there's a very similar community in jersey city that would be a lot closer to you
Darn darn darn, You had to go to The Delhi, best almost kept secret.Well it's over now gonna be harder for me to order with these thousands of new people. Love ya Brother you need to go back and get the butter chicken.
Love your videos bro, enjoy them all. Their NY chicken and rice platter is dope too. As your Indian friend, don’t say “naan bread” you’re basically saying “bread bread” 😂😂😂
Get chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, vegetable pakora, and different flavored chutneys (tamarind, mint, etc), tandoori chicken, and biryani chicken and butter chicken! First 3 are my go-to’s though
