I did macrame in the 80's when it was popular. I decided to teach a class to the women in my home and garden club how to make a small plant hanger. I looked on TH-cam to see if I could find a simple pattern tutorial to refresh my memory. I"m so glad I came across this one. It is a great pattern for beginners or for someone like me who had experience from long ago. I like this one best because it had several different knots instead of just one and that you can add beads or not. This tutorial was very well done. I'm going to check out her other videos.
I have seen a lot of videos on the net and this is fantastic. I was looking for a gift for Christmas for myself and my wife and came across this. I did a "Man" crame course through my wife's yoga studio which was to help men connect with men but like all other things it was just all sorts of people, and genders, having a fun time with rope and knotts (no weirdness intended.) thanks for the video.
I can so relate to your measuring process. When I was very young, I remember my Grandmother telling me how to somewhat gauge a yard of fabric by holding the end in your fingertips, stretching your arm out straight from the shoulder & measuring it from there to the tip of your nose. Many years later I read where if you stretched both arms out & measured from the tip of your middle finger on one side to the tip on the other side, it will usually equal your full height in inches. So I'm pretty sure her measurements where off since she was only 5' 4". Lol
May i say... Your very good at teaching. I'm 38 never been able to do a 4 strand braid before until now. Beginner at macrame and this is my first project... Its going very well for my first go thanks to you. 😊
Hello Chrystal, thank you for this fun tutorial! I am making this plant hanger, it's my first macrame project and I'm adding some beads. Your tutorial is so clear and easy to follow!
I have made this hanger in the past and its lovely, today I made it with shock cord, which is stretchy and weather resistant, I also used a heavy duty metal ring, which makes this hanger fantastic for heavy plants and doesn't matter if it gets wet :)
Great tutorial! Thank you. I made one as a kid in art class back in the 80's but they had us use a kit with ring and beads to go on it too. And I really wanted a more clean looking hanger without all the hardware!
Hi Crystal...thanks for your awesome videos! I was wondering if you have a finished length for this hanger. Also, on another video you were working on a white board. What kind of board is it and how do you fasten your work down? It must be quite sturdy to handle the tugging! Thanks for your help.
Hi, loved this one, I must have gone wrong somewhere, I had several very long ones left and 2 very short ones ,almost too short to finish, started with 8 x 170inches
Il faut juste twister les cordes pour ramener les plus longues à l'intérieur. Le faire en passant des nœuds plats au noeud en spirale. Pas de risque de manquer de cordes.
Great tutorial, just made my first for my never ending growing purple/silver tradescantia! Very easy to follow but I’ll adjust the cotton length next time as I seemed to be cutting a lot off! And I’m such a tight @rs£! 😂😂😂xxx
Not that there's anything wrong with your braiding method because it is just fine; HOWEVER, I'd like to mention that it was MUCH, MUCH, EASIER for MY brain to comprehend the 4-strand braid by always braiding from right to left like this: *** ALWAYS starting from the outer right strand, take it and weave it "over-under-over" each of the 3 strands to the left of it. Repeat always starting with the far right strand. Keep repeating ALWAYS starting from the outer right strand until your braid is finished. I don't know if the end result is exactly the same as your method but I think it is. Either way, this method is MUCH, MUCH EASIER TO REMEMBER how to do because you are constantly starting from the outer right strand and weaving over-under-over-repeat. It never changes; therefore, it couldn't be any simpler to comprehend and remember. I had the ABSOLUTE WORST TIME remembering how to do a 4-strand braid until somebody showed me how to do it that way. I will definitely try your way of doing it and maybe the end result is better but I wanted to mention my method for anyone else who might have a very difficult time with it like I did. This method might be easier for them. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful tutorial! 🙏👍😊
An arms length is your height. Just saying So im 170cm/ 5 foot 7", its 66. Something inches . So basically below Average Height do 3. Lol. Sorry hopefully someone understand that

How do i know how much weight my rope will hold?

Took me an hour to make the first loop 😅
So the length of 8 ropes is 150 inches each or it’s 150 inches divided by 8? I’m so confused
❤
So overall you used like 320 meters?
32 metres
